BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE SETTING WITH FAST TRANSPORT LINKS AND EXCELLENT FACILITIES NEARBY Frampton Cotterell is a small village on the River Frome seven miles to the northeast of Bristol located within some glorious countryside but also ideally positioned for commuters - the M4 and M5 motorways and Parkway train station are within easy access. The name Frampton means ‘the settlement, farmstead or village on the Frome’ while Cotterell is derived from the Cotele Family who were lords of Frampton Manor in the 12th Century. Given the location on the River Frome it is no surprise that there were once several watermills in the village and The Old Mill is located off Mill Lane right by the river near the site of one of these. The modernised weir you can see today was once the mill-race which activated the grind stones turning corn into flour. The village is dominated by St Peter’s Church, which has a 17th century tower and 19th century main buildings while The Globe Inn opposite dates from the 18th century. There are plenty of other village pubs nearby as well as local stores and takeaways while a wider range of facilities is just a short drive at Yate, including a large Tesco Extra supermarket and a Cineworld cinema complex.
If you want to enjoy the countryside there are numerous walks and trails in the area – including the Frome Valley Walkway - along designated paths, across bridges and open fields and by the banks of the river Frome itself while Centenary Field is another attractive local space, opened in 1994 to celebrate 100 years of Parish Councils. For education there is a good Primary (Frampton Cotterell C of E) in the centre of the village plus several others within just a couple of miles. As regards secondary education The Ridings in Winterbourne, Bradley Stoke Community School, Downend School and Yate Academy are all within no more than three miles and there are obviously even further options if you want to head into Bristol.
