Family Weekend at Into Action
This is a healthy and therapeutic event for both current clients who’s family flies in and those who does not. Family Weekends happen every 45 days with full participation of the whole clinical team and is free of charge for the family. This is included as part of the program.
Friday The weekend starts on Friday at 5 pm with dinner. Clients are separated into female and male tables away from parents’ tables. This dinner is usually ran by a Codependents Anonymous (CODA) speaker. At 6pm, an alumni of the center will share his or her story. At 7pm, Andrey Rossin will hold the regular, big book, step study speaker meeting.
Saturday Saturday morning starts at 8:30 with a continental breakfast for the parents. Andrey will perform a formal introduction to the program and 9am. From this time until noon, we will host psycho-educational groups that highlight different therapists and their approaches to treatment. Alumni will also hold Question and Answer panels during this time to help educate parents about enabling, self-will or lack of one, disease of addiction, what to do and not to do, etc. This is a truly eye opening
experience for all who attend.
At noon, parents join the clients for lunch hosted by Liz, the on-site boundaries therapist and founder of the Alanon Tuesday night meeting at the center. Group therapy session begin at 1:30, topics include ‘how the disease of addiction affects the family,’ ‘family secrets’ and ‘what really needs to be done in order to move forward.’ Only clients with family still in attendance will be permitted to stay and these sessions continue until dinner at 5pm.
Sunday Sunday morning starts at 9am with a continental breakfast at the center. During this time, we will hold a morning booster on the ongoing theme of the weekend: “From Victim to Viktor.” Once breakfast is over, we will hold a We Do Recover pinning commitment ceremony with clients and families. After the ceremony, clients with written permission from their therapist will be permitted to leave the facility with their families, to return at 6pm.
We are proud of our Family Program. It has proven effective in nurturing and repairing relationships that have been damaged by years of addiction. This intimate and therapeutic weekend is free of charge and is offered to all families as part of the treatment program.
