Types of Drug and Alcohol Rehab Posted by Into Action Treatment on August 27, 2015 in Articles There are many types of rehab therapy programs. When considering rehab it is important to consider the type for the specific condition. Most rehab facilities are for substance or alcohol abuse, however, there are also other types that will help to re introduce the addict (recovered) back into society.

When considering what types of rehab therapists there are one will wish to consider the types of rehab facilities. Let’s examine the various types of facilities.

Types of Rehab Facilities Residential: In a residential rehab program the patient will live in the treatment facility. These may be voluntary, court ordered, or a part of a transition or deferred (court ordered) program. Patients will live in the facility for a specified amount of time (this could be anywhere from three weeks to a year depending upon the treatment facility). A few will have lock down hours where the patients cannot leave the grounds. Others may allow patients to leave, however they won’t allow them to return to the facility.

Halfway Houses: These are also referred to as a sober living house. They are a transitional phase for patients who are exiting a treatment facility, exiting a jail or prison sentence with some time remaining or for those who need to live in a more structured environment in preparation of living on their own. Patients in these facilities can work, go to school and they may also be able to participate in other approved activities.
