THE IDEA OF ‘ SYNTAX ’
1
Visiting the Japanese restaurant, Aka Siro to have a specially prepared meal from the chef, is a lesson to understand the idea of syntax. The process of design is just like preparing a meal. There are crunchiness from the deep fried chicken, softness from the pumpkin puree, sourness from salad dressing and smokiness from the pen-fried broccoli. AN DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR DANIAL& EMMA
INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS
INSEPARABLE - LIVING & WORKING Living and working are the most important aspects of our life. Working can never be separated from living, especially for designers like Daniel& Emma. Everyday experience has always been prime source of inspiration for their work. Taking inspiration from ordinary objects, then bring them into the studio and transform ordinary into extraordinary. This relationship of living and working has formed a lifestyle for D&E. Isn’t that a studio-house is perfect for D&E? Therefor, this proposal is intended WR UHÁHFW WKH LQWLPDWH ERXQG RI living and working spatially. To unify two different functional spaces harmoniously, as one, is the challenge for this design project.

DANIEL& EMMA AS INSPIRATION
EMOTION & ARCHITECTURE
OBJECTS & EMOTIONS To me, Daniel& Emma’s philosophy and work inspired me in different way. However most importantly, their work shows me that design is all about EXPRESSION, the expression of feelings and emotions. Every piece of Daniel& Emma’s design is very evocative, both visually and emotionally,
The use of material, the shape, the weight and even the color transmit a sense of ‘solid’ and ‘secured’ feeling from the appearance of the objects. As industrial designer, what D&E deliver are not just functional objects and desktops, but the enjoyment and the pleasure of objects.
In Peter Zumthor’s architecture, he passions about creating atmosphere and explores the things that constitutes an architectural atmosphere, such as the effect of light, the presence material and so on.
D&E explore functionality, materiality of objects, because those are the facts establish a good product. In their philosophy, a good object design should deliver the pleasure of what it is made for. So as a pleasant space, it should trigger your emotions and feelings. As soon as you enter a designed space, you can always feel and sense it immediately, by the light, the material, and the view of the house. Therefore, my aim is to create an emotional space, that transmits a sense of freedom and purity. A space has the clarity of spatial PRYHPHQW ZKLFK GHÀQHV KRZ WKH space should be used. However, at the time, it doesn’t limit the occupant express them self. The pleasure of being free, is being themself. This is KRZ , GHÀQH D SOHDVDQW SODFH VKRXOG be.

3 Door handle inspiration Form cutting
The door handle is designed for the doors entering to the bedroom. Those are the only two doors in the house, and they represent privacy to the entire house. A sense of heaviness and solid quality is intended to create from the use of copper. The door handle has uneven surface that are randomly protruding from the door.
