Welcome It has been overwhelming all the positive response we have had at launching the first e-mag edition of Aneis de Vida – The Circle of Light. And I am very sure that you will enjoy this one even more.
Editing the articles this month has been an extremely emotional ride for me. I feel so honoured and humbled at having been given insight into the lives of these wonderful people. Life is never what you think it is and more often than not, what we see on the outside is a very different tale to what is happening or has happened to someone. Without giving away anything regarding the articles within, suffice it to say that it has once again shown me not to judge a book by its cover. Do let us know what your thoughts are on this month’s issue, again it is always with you our readers in mind that we As a team it was wonderful to be at the publish our articles. KZN Healers Fair earlier this month, meeting many new people and making new friends. Slowly but surely we are all starting to wind down yet another year – stay safe wherever in the world you are. And have a truly wonderful month of November.
I was also able to attend one of Deborah Sutherlands from Sprout-It’s talks – very insightful and again bringing us back to going back to basics. Deborah will share with you within our Love, Light and Blessings pages, each month invaluable Tilanie information that will hopefully change your life for the better.

Serge, for the greater part of his life was a complete atheist and humanist and who believed that the spirit world to be complete and utter mumbo jumbo. He is not a fictitious person, Serge and I were connected through business ventures and can today call him a friend. He is a man with a heart of gold, a man of integrity, who has known emotional and physical pain and who has survived both.
You may not believe in the spirit world, or you may think you are unable to connect. The information in this article was supplied by Serge van der Velde— Brazil. It is about his life and the journey that changed his life.
His journey with the spirit world started when he was diagnosed with cancer. He had two tumours on his liver (1.5mm and 2mm) which were growing in size, a transplant was therefore necessary. Medically if growths are more than 3mm a transplant can no longer be performed. After discovering the tumours on the liver, doctors had decided to intervene by injecting these tumours with a chemical substance which caused November 2014

immense pain for several days. During one pain filled night, Serge dreamed that he was walking on a beach in Belgium. On that beach he met a man who told him that he was suffering with severe pain. The man stretched out his hand and put his finger on the spot where the pain was the most intense. Upon waking the next morning, the most amazing thing was that there was no more pain. Later that same day, a letter arrived in the post from his sister-in-law in Belgium, informing him that his brothers’ ashes had been scattered on that very same spot that he had been walking during his dream and encountering the man who removed the pain.
went for holistic treatment with stones in attempts to heal the stiffness for a number of weeks. At one session just before his transplant, the holistic therapist said to him that he was going to need a tremendous amount of energy for that day, and added her energy to his (this is something anyone can do). After his session with the therapist, he walked home – a 2km stretch, as he got there he noticed that his neck problem had disappeared.
No sooner had he stepped over the threshold of his front door, the phone rang. It was the hospital informing him that a liver had been located for his transplant, time was of the essence and As can well be imagined, this diagnosis he had to be booked into hospital with was extremely stressful and to add to this immediate effect. he had a problem in his neck – it was Serge underwent the transplant and totally stiff. He tried massage and woke to a voice telling him that the acupuncture with no success. He also

transplant was a resounding success. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was no longer in the operating theatre but in his hospital room. As he lay in his hospital bed, the door opened and a women dressed in blue entered and began talking to him. Serge however did not understand the language that she was speaking, and explained this to her, and also made mention of the fact that she had a beautiful voice. The lady then left the room. Later, when Serge’s son arrived to visit him he tried desperately to tell him that he was thirsty. There was a nurse in the room who informed Serge not to try and speak due to the tube in his mouth. Once the tube was removed, Serge asked how it was possible that he was speaking to this woman who had entered his room with the tube in his mouth. Those present in his hospital room told him that his son was his first visitor after his operation. The doctor then came to see Serge himself saying that he had to personally tell Serge that the operation was a success. He felt the need to do this purely because the liver had already started functioning a few hours after the transplant (this is a process which normally takes 4 days). Serge was discharged from hospital a week later due to the immense success of his transplant. So a discharged ‘’atheist and humanitarian’’ leaves the hospital, knowing that something of great importance had taken place in his life. However, he needed to think and
evaluate exactly what it was that had transpired during his time in hospital. Later he would find out that this liver had not originally been planned for him, it was for another person who had sadly passed away during an operation. How on earth did the woman who was treating him on a holistic basis know about what was to transpire that day? Or rather, that he would need all of his energy and more to get himself sorted and to the hospital at the speed of light. In May 2013, Serge travelled to Belgium and together with his niece, visited the spot where his brothers’ ashes were scattered and where during his dream he walked on that beach meeting up with the spirit man. This was where the realisation struck, he had survived because he had to help others. He started by going to a healing centre to learn about spiritual work and energy healing. Today he gives freely of his own time, never asking for money or anything in return to assist those who need more energy to heal and transform their lives. I hope that this true life story, inspires all of you to know that you are all part of a much greater power and that within you lies the resources to help no matter how big or how small you may perceive that help to be. You never know what someone is going through, so reach out and make this world a better place for all. Serge I believe will continue to bless many lives, in his quiet way, and I wish him and his partner love and light in all that they do. ~Tilanie~ November 2014

The basic component of roses is attar which aids in bringing back harmony to the human immune and nervous system. It can be used for the digestive tract and deficiencies in the stomach and intestines as well as reviving cells.
The petals contain Vitamin C, Carotene, B-vitamins, Vitamin K, Calcium, Potassium, Coper and Iodine. All vital components for healthy living.
Information by - Doctor of medical science Boris Vasilyev
It is recommended to collect rose petals early in the morning when the air is clean and humid, better after rain or abundant dew. Blossomed out but not fading roses will do for collection of petals. When collected, rose petals should be immediately dried or used for treatment without washing to preserve their health-giving components. Collected rose petals may be used for making extracts, or rose water. Bacteria die within five minutes when contacted with fresh rose petals which makes rose a perfect medicine for fighting skin diseases. Fresh rose petals will help cure festering wounds and burns; they may also alleviate allergic itching.
Powder of dried rose petals mixed with honey is an effective medicine against mouth inflammations. The mixture should be rubbed into inflamed gums. Headaches, sickness and weakness can be cured with inhalation roses. Rose inhalations are also recommended to people with poor nervous system, liable to neurosis and depressions. Put a bowl with hot water and rose petals in the room in case you suffer from nervous
diseases, head colds, coughs and flus. Bathing in rose petals is a perfect remedy against nervous diseases: it tones up, rejuvenates, relieves anxiety and purifies skin. Pour boiling water over half a glass of rose petals and infuse in a closed bowl to preserve attar of roses. Pour the infusion and the petals into the bath; the infusion's healing power will be stronger if beetroot juice is added to this bath. Never throw faded rose bunches away and make curative baths of them. Spraying with rose water is recommended for treatment of many diseases. Pour a glass of boiling water over 10g of rose petals and infuse in a covered bowl. Everyday spraying within two weeks is recommended to people suffering from nervous disorders. In this case, spraying with warm rose water should be done on the upper third of the back. Spraying with rose water is good for healthy people as well to strengthen the nervous system and immunity. Apply rose water to skin and slightly rub. Warm rose water bath for feet helps cure rheumatism. Tea made of rose petals (a tea-spoon of dried rose petals per a glass of boiling water) is good against cold, pharyngitis, bronchitis and various neuroses; it is a vitamin drink as well. Rose petal jam is a wonderful natural medicine especially in cold weather.

Of course, one of the biggest questions is: Do you have to be psychic to talk to animals?
You don’t have to be Dr. Dolittle to communicate with Animals, in fact, it’s simpler than you think. You actually do it every time you interact with your family pet, believe it or not.
Well yes you do, however everyone has a little intuitive sense – and if it is nurtured it can blossom into something quite beautiful. Just like Sandra Bullock says in the movie Practical Magic. “There’s a little witch in all of us.” The only problem you may be having is that your ability isn’t fine-tuned. How does one change that? It’s simple - you put the old cliché of practice makes perfect into good use. The key is patience and love.
Start With Something Easy

before taking a leap to anything else. A cat or dog who is familiar to you is the best choice to begin. Cats can be a tad more difficult as they tend to pick and choose who they wish to talk to (or listen to). Another cliché comes to mind “dogs have owner’s cats have slaves” in the communication context it very much the same. If you don’t already have a good healthy relationship with your cat, consider a family dog. They can be easier as they are pack animals and will be more apt to tune into the leader of their pack, which in this case – is you.
how he responds when you give him a treat. So you’re in fact forming an “idea” in your head, which you know your dog will relate to. Animals like dogs and cats and some of the larger mammals can pick this up fairly quickly. If you want to ask him to please put his head in your lap, form a picture of him doing just that in your mind along with a picture of your rubbing his favourite spot after he does. With the picture in your mind and following that up with your verbal phrase – you should find that he will ask for the treat or put his head in your lap. I would now say reciprocate the action with a reward of the treat you have been thinking of.

There are four main elements of bullying: an imbalance of power between the bully and victim, bullying involves repeated actions which occur over a period of time, these actions are intentional and there are unequal levels of emotional distress with the victim will show high levels of emotional distress (such are crying or withdrawing from social situations) and the bully showing hardly any emotion or anguish.
Sadly, bullying is a common issue that many young people face. Years ago, bullying was tolerated and seen as one of life’s milestones that children meandered through as they ventured towards adulthood. Today, we recognise the harmful aftermath of bullying: both for the bully and the ‘bullied’. By Vicky Downing Educational Psychologist (M.Ed, B.A. Hons, HDE)
Psychologists agree that bullying is any deliberately hurtful action aimed at another person or group of people which causes them to feel unvalued, humiliated and rejected. Since bullying often occurs as a subtle form of violence, it usually takes place outside the scope of vision of authorities and, as such, is difficult to attend to effectively.
40 Aneis de Vida
November 2014
There are different forms of bullying. The most common form is verbal bullying and includes name-calling, teasing, mocking, repeatedly putting someone down, spreading rumours, harassment and making threats. Verbal bullying accounts for approximately 70% of all cases reported for bullying. It is often directed at marginalised groups due to sexual orientation, students with barriers to learning and ethnic or cultural group differences. Research suggests that girls tend to use verbal bullying tactics such as manipulation and gossiping more than boys do. Verbal bullying also includes cyber-bullying where the perpetrator often remains anonymous. In cyber-bullying, the cyber-bully harasses the victim through the use of text messages, e-mails, cell-phones, YouTube, social media sites (like FaceBook and Twitter), blogposts and online voting. Many times the perpetrators of cyberbullying do not have to face the consequences of their actions as it can be difficult to trace them. Physical bullying involves the intention to cause physical harm and fear in the victim. Typical
examples of this form of bullying include being tripped, spat on and slapped, having clothes or other personal items taken or hidden and demanding money. Research indicates that boys are more likely to use physical bullying as they tend to be more physical and their verbal skills are often not as welldeveloped as girls’. In addition, boys also enjoy displaying physical prowess. The final type, social bullying involves the purposeful exclusion of a person or group from another social group or the coercion within a group. Examples include aggressive stares at the victim, negative and hostile body language towards the victim and the bully rolling his/ her eyes at the victim. Bullies tend to be individuals who lack healthy and happy home and social conditions which can exacerbate inappropriate and defiant behaviour. Research shows that, in many instances, bullies have been victims of violence themselves and that bullying is often a
precursor to violent behaviour and vice versa. An issue which intensifies the problem of bullying is that some children do not believe bullying is a problem and often feel that the victim may have deserved being bullied to some extent. Bullies also tend to lack guilt and actively seek negative responses to their behaviour (believing that negative attention is better than no attention at all), bullies are concerned primarily with their own desires, they do not understand that others have their own subjective experiences and they lack empathy for others and generally bullies do not accept responsibility for their own actions and cannot consider the consequences of their behaviour. Victims are usually characterised by the following: they may often be rejected by bullies as well as non-bullying peers, they may complain about feeling lonely and experiencing a great amount of stress as they lack supportive relationships in their peer groups, victims may be targeted for being different from the rest or even just for being ‘the new pupil’ at school, they often show signs ranging from low self-esteem, depression and inability to concentrate in school following a bullying episode, victims may show signs of self-harm (such as self-mutilation) and may even display suicidal tendencies, they often think they are responsible for being bullied and they may experience physical consequences (such as headaches, migraines, high levels of stress and anxiety, frequent illnesses, tiredness and excessive fatigue, skin

Orleans, listening to just 30 minutes of classical, Celtic or raga music every day may significantly reduce high blood pressure.
So what I found is that according to medical studies soothing sounds induce the release of serotonin. Serotonin is the hormone that makes you feel happy and gives you a general sense of wellbeing. Music also activates dopamine which is a neurotransmitter that makes you feel good. Another hormone which will be released is norepinephrine, a hormone that brings about euphoria and elation.

Choosing music that motivates you will make it easier to start moving, walking, dancing, or any other type of exercise that you enjoy. Music can make exercise feel more like recreation and less like work. Not only that – if you’re training for a specific sport music will benefit your performance on the sports field. The four central hypotheses explaining music's facilitation of exercise performance include: mind off what stresses you, and help you feel more optimistic and positive. This helps release stress and can even help you keep from getting as stressed over life's little frustrations in the future. Researchers discovered that music can decrease the amount of the cortisol, a stress-related hormone produced by the body in response to stress.

Who likes to feel sick? I don’t and I am sure you don’t either. Music can boost the immune function. Scientists explain that a particular type of music can create a positive and profound emotional experience, which leads to secretion of immune-boosting hormones. This helps contribute to a reduction in the factors responsible for illness. Listening to music or singing can also decrease levels of stress-related hormone cortisol. Higher levels of cortisol can lead to a decreased immune response Music improves physical performance

Music Repairs Brain Damage Because of its ability to alter the different parts of the brain, music has been utilized in a number of therapies. For example, it has been applied to stroke victims to teach them how to talk once again. At the same time, it is recommended to stutterers so that they can dictate words clearly once again. pain. Did you know that music therapy is increasingly used in hospitals to reduce the need for medication? There are several theories about how music positively affects perceived pain: 1. Music serves as a distracter 2. Music may give the patient a sense of control
barriers too, music is now being utilized as a mood-altering therapy for depressed and anxious individuals. Music is especially helpful in victims of left-sided brain injury, with symptoms such as the inability to speak. In fact, therapists treat such patients with a program called “Melodic Intonation.” Here, the patient is prodded to sing until he can talk once again. Music is said to repair the damaged parts associated with language because it helps the mind correlate the tunes with verbalisms once again. Apart from this benefit, music ushers the release of dopamine, a feel-good hormone that enhances brain function. This is especially advantageous in individuals who have suffered from major brain damage.
3. Music causes the body to release endorphins to counteract pain 4. Slow music relaxes person by slowing their breathing and heartbeat Music reduces stress and aids relaxation and boosts your memory Listening to slow, quiet classical music, is proven to reduce stress. Countless studies have shown that music's relaxing effects can be seen on anyone, including new borns. One of the great benefits of music as a stress reliever is that it can be used while you study to put your mind in that perfect “study zone”.

Spatial reasoning is defined as the ability to reason depiction, measurement, navigation and shape accurately. As one of the “Nine Kinds of Intelligence,” it is characterized by the talent to recreate a visual experience. "What about that eye patch?" "Oh," said the pirate, "One day we were at sea, and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up, and one of them pooped in my eye." "You're kidding," said the bartender. "You couldn't lose an eye just from bird poop." "It was my first day with the hook."

You know when you look back on life and things start piecing together? You think to yourself ‘ah that happened in order for this to happen’; I needed to undertake that journey, to get where I am now’. I truly believe in fate, and even though we have free will I wonder if our lives are pre-destined for many reasons. People come into our lives to teach us things right? and vice versa, well I believe I am in this world for a specific reason. I had a calling in life that started at school My 'dog days' all started at the tender age of 14 when I helped out at the local boarding kennels 'Colthurst', the owners Joan and Frank Sanderson also bred German Shepherd Dogs. I was very fortunate that these lovely people had been in the breed many years, are highly reputable and respected to this day, and considered breed specialists. They gave me solid foundations and ethics about dog breeding; I became proficient in training and handling for the show ring, and joined the local obedience club. But what they also did was find me. I could relate to dogs very easily, much easier than people. I was very shy and had a few traumatic experiences as a child, the dogs brought me out of my shell, they gave me confidence, self-belief, hope and a true love. I later competed with my own dog Paisley in the specialised sport of Schutzhund, this has 3 disciplines: obedience, tracking and protection work. and anyone who knows dogs comes to know that the term ‘oh it’s just a dog’ is the ultimate insult.
My dream was always to return to the dog world when Aaron was about 9 or 10 years old. As if by magic or was it fate? that is exactly what happened, but not in the way I had thought. I was planning to set up on my own as a pet dog trainer when I ‘stumbled’ across the Pathfinder Guide Dog Programme. You have all heard the saying about candles going out and doors opening right? Well as my precious boy Paisley of 15 years left this Earth, two youngsters by the name of Spook and Merlin arrived, and certainly filled our empty home again. I am now the Training Manager for the charity, we raise and train German Shepherd Dogs as guides for blind people. Fate? I think so, blessed I most certainly am.
I was working for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association at the time but unfortunately due to organisational change and a huge re-structure the centre was due to close, and I faced redundancy. As you can imagine the loss had a huge impact on my life. Apart from a sense of bereavement, what was I to do after having such a specialised job, a job that made me, well me?
I truly feel my Paisley looked after me until he knew I would be alright. He was a good teacher, he taught me to never give up, that you are stronger than you think. He taught me I was worth something and even when I didn’t get things right I could still be loved. He taught me how to love, care, and be responsible for another life. He made me feel safe.
At this time our son Aaron was 12 months old and I was lucky enough to have a few years off as a 'stay at home Mum' which I thoroughly enjoyed. I decided to re-train and qualified in childcare and development, working in private and school nurseries. I then qualified as an NVQ Assessor, (National Vo-

I wanted people to feel safe sharing their thoughts, to receive support from others who knew exactly how it felt. Grief is dreadful and you feel you will never get through. Most of all I wanted it to be a place where you felt understood, you were given strength and be free from comments like ‘it’s just a dog’ or ‘oh when are you going to get over it’ My Paisley was fittingly named ‘The Doorkeeper’
I have a lot to thank him and his breeders Joan and Frank for. They helped make me who I am, and now I’m able to help others. Dog Bless. November 2014

really my angels. I was in a constant state of panic. My father was a very angry man with schizophrenic tendencies. Being in a car with him when he was in a “dark mood” was unbearable with nowhere to hide! I used to escape in a dream world possibly another dimension. I would pick a passing couple or person and then begin to make up a story in my head of what their lives might be like, did they have children, was the relationship going to last? Some were happy others heavy with a feeling of loss or loneliness. If there was a dog with a person, I would ask the dog to tell me what its life was like within the family. One blessing I am grateful for, we had dogs and other animals as part of this dysfunctional family. I always had a dog by my side, my first guardian was a boxer named Karlien. Naturally both dogs were traumatized, the female recovered although she keeps to herself most of the time. The male dog was a rescue puppy and very attached to the woman. He started to howl sporadically, the owner was worried the neighbours would call the animal welfare. He started to lift his leg wetting the other animals’ beds, and then he started to also jump up and wet the new owner’s bed as well. I was contacted at this point. I realised this was his way to call for help. For the first three days I spend an hour a day, just sitting and “being” with him, holding him in white light and calming him by doing an aura balance for him. On day four I took great care in making contact. Creating a space of compassion and love. He saw his role as her protector, safety officer of the home. He could not comprehend why someone would harm themselves. Animals understand nature, birth, survival and death. But not harming oneself as this woman did. It was difficult to explain “choice” to him, it was her choice and he did not contribute to it in anyway. The second part of healing was to get him to accept his new home and family. When I spoke to the new owner and asked how he was doing? She said, “funny thing, he only howled once today and has not lifted his leg either.” Well, what can I say? Be that as it may, he is doing much better and I am most grateful for the experience!
I have also been contacted by owners of pets who have passed over. It brings much comfort. I love working with them as they are “light” and free! One wonderful client asked if her beloved dog, Mr Jones was still with her and can he give her a sign? Mr Jones communicated he observed something breaking. My client burst into tears as she told me she went for a walk with her younger dog, Sally. On her walk, she picked up a precious rare shell that she carried home with great care. When she reached the house the phone rang and without thinking she put the shell on the table and it smashed into a million pieces. Mr Jones asked me to tell her that Sally has a problem. She does not like complete darkness, and Mr Jones used to comfort her at night. Problem solved. Sally got a bed light!
Most animals are grateful for their homes and often ask me to please tell their owners they are grateful for the care and comfort. Other animals I have done reading for? Pet rat, pet monkey to a stud bull who’s reading, shall we say is confidential!

Reiki is one of the most popular and well known hands on healing modalities around the world. By Tracy White Reiki is one of the most popular and well known hands on healing modalities around the world. The International Center for Reiki Training has estimated that there are four million people through out the world who have done at least the first level of Reiki training, if not finished right through to the Masters level. Almost everyone you meet who is involved in any other healing modality started with a Reiki course as the basis for their understanding of energy. What is Reiki? It is a hands on healing modality that works holistically on the whole body, and energy or light body, including the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of ourselves. It is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, often instilling a sense of

well being and wholeness in the recipient. Reiki is known to accelerate healing from a multitude of conditions, including working side by side with allopathic medicine. In America, there are more than 800 Hospitals that include Reiki sessions as part of their treatment plan, as a means to accelerate the healing process and to alleviate pain. Reiki is not affiliated with any religious systems, and can he learned by anyone who has a desire to make a difference and alleviate the suffering of others. How does it work? Everything is made up of energy, including our physical bodies and our thoughts and emotions. The more solid the form, the denser the energy. The lighter the form, the lighter the energy. All energy is measured by vibration. Physical matter has a slower vibration and thoughts and emotions have a faster vibration. Sound and colour are also vibration which our bodies can I nterpret through our ears and eyes. But we can take that further. Our whole bodies are vibration interpreting
instruments. An example would be sensing tension in a room after 2 people have had an argument. You may not have been there for the argument but you can feel the vibe that remains. All matter, both physical and thought form, has an optimum vibration which maintains the health of itself. When an organ develops what we would call a disease, it does so because its optimum vibration has been compromised. This can happen for many different reasons. The vibrational frequencies measured in a healers hands contain all the bandwidths of vibration the the body needs to repair itself. This is one of the ways healing can occur.
A short history. Reiki began in Japan with Usui Shiki Ryoho, which means Usui Style Healing. In the 1920's, Dr Mikao Usui developed a healing system using energy that is transferred through one person to another. He had many successes with his system and people wanted to learn it. Down the lineage teachers have added some valuable adaptions to the original teachings, and have taught others. Around the time of the second world war, this system arrived in the west. The word 'Reiki' was on Mrs Hawayo Takata's training certificate, which was used to describe the 'sacred energy' that is used during the application of this work. It became the name for this modality.
Another is when the body becomes depleted of general energy and Reiki provides a direct link to an unlimited source Since then, many strains of Reiki have of pure untainted energy for the body appeared, but all of them began with to replenish itself. Usui Shiki Ryoho. At the end of the day, the body is always in complete control of what vibration and how much energy it receives. Therefore all healing, even if assisted, is essentially self healing.

We hear over and over again why eating our greens are so important. When I looked into how best to get high quality, nutrient value from my foods, sprouts always came up tops. Sprouted seeds, grains and legumes are the most powerful enzyme-rich foods that exist. Sprouts are known for their high enzyme activity never to be surpassed at the later stages of maturity. Sprouting increases their enzyme content as much as 43 times more than non-sprouted foods. This brought me to the importance of the enzyme activity in our body. I believe the mystery of the Fountain of Youth has been revealed, and I

call it Enzyme Activity. By eating enzyme rich foods, we give ourselves an opportunity to maintain a healthier, biological body. When we continually consume processed, nonliving foods, it forces our body to produce a copious flow of concentrated digestive enzymes, depleting our enzyme bank quota. Enzyme depletion is the fundamental cause of aging. As we grow older our digestive system becomes less efficient as the body’s ability to produce concentrated digestive enzymes. Once we enter into the 60’s, almost 35% of people do not produce any hydrochloric acid in the stomach which is needed in the further breakdown of the food eaten. Our body’s
capacity to make enzymes is limited. If we get external digestive enzymes from our food, as they appear in nature, more metabolic enzyme is freed to prevent disease and maintain health. Eating enzyme rich foods allows our body to maximize its production of non-digestive enzymes, and that helps our body to produce an adequate level of enzymes all our life. Maintaining our enzyme bank is crucial in the journey of health, vitality and longevity.
Undigested food in your stool
What would cause digestive enzymes to stop working?
Reduce and or eliminate: sugar, harmful fats, sodium, poor quality protein in the form of meat and chicken, white flour, white rice, fried foods, bread…… but to name a few.
Low grade inflammation in the digestive tract Low stomach acid Chronic stress Years of eating cooked meals and not adequate amounts of fresh, living foods How to know if your digestive enzymes are not working effectively Gas and bloating after meals Feeling full after eating just a few mouthfuls
Sensation of food sitting in your stomach
How to correct the enzyme activity in your body? Restore gut bacteria = preferably with living probiotics Manage stress= meditate, exercise, adequate rest At least 60% of your daily meals must be good quality raw fresh vegetables, sprouts and fruit, nuts, seeds, legumes
Nature packs her food with enzymes, minerals, amino acids and vitamins, all the essential ingredients to take care of your body. Consider beginning your Super Nutrition journey by sprouting your own sprouts. Sprouts have the highest concentration of nutrition per calorie of any food. of chi and bringing the body back into balance. There are many styles and approaches to Shiatsu. In Zen Shiatsu we use applied thumb, elbow and knee pressure to these energy channels as well as stretching techniques to stimulate the flow of energy.
Shiatsu is a relaxing and rejuvenating Japanese form of body work that incorporates acupressure and stretching techniques to stimulate the body’s energy system. by: Chris Rooke This relaxing and invigorating treatment is a great aid to the body’s natural ability to heal. Shiatsu acts on the subtle electro-magnetic energy of the body called chi (Chinese) or Ki (Japanese). Chi is considered to be our life essence and flows through all the organs and bodily tissues via a system of channels / pathways known as meridians. Along these meridians, of which there are 12 connected to all the major organs, there are pressure points known as Tsubos. Blockages within this system cause patterns of disharmony in the body and therefore dis-ease. By working on the appropriate channels and tsubos the Shiatsu practitioner works to release and open these areas aiding free movement
Originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu can be traced back to China around 530B.C. when a group of exercises called Tao-Yin a system of self-massage and self-applied pressure point therapy was used for promoting detoxification and rejuvenation of the body. By the 10th century AD Chinese medicine had been introduced into Japan from which time an amalgam of palm healing, acupressure and massage, known collectively as Anma was combined with Tao-Yin to loosely resemble present day Shiatsu. Shiatsu is primarily preventative and can help to: * Improve digestion, elimination, circulation * Calm the nervous system
* Release emotional blockages * Increase mobility and flexibility of * limbs and joints * Relieve pains and stiffness * Improve libido * Improve stamina and vitality * Relieve menstrual problems * Ease childbirth November 2014

My parents divorced when I was 10. My dad’s third wife banned us from his home and my mom remarried an abusive man who made living at home unbearable so I did anything not to have to go home. And so I grew up: being used and abused became my way of life. I became anorexic and at 23 my ex-husband, after pistol whipping me he loaded a gun, shoved it down my throat and pulled the trigger. The gun jammed. The next morning he told me I would marry him. I did not argue. He marched me into town to find a court house. Two weeks later we were married.

I gave birth to an angel. The love I had known before her was like an ant compared to a sky rise building size love I felt for her. At two she would lie across my body, spreading herself out as wide as she could to stop her father from kicking me. She told me she had watched me crying from heaven and come down to earth to save me. Living in our home was a war zone, I knew it was wrong but I had no idea how to fix it. I was scared for my life, more so of dying and leaving my daughter with him.
promised to train me to let me take over. I loved helping children in distress and in doing the workshop week after week we remained sane. School reported her to be a well-adjusted child but I noticed she always chose an abusive best friend. After hours of prayer and meditation, I attended a parenting seminar where the psychologist stated: Our children do 10% of what we tell them and 90% of what we do. The penny dropped! I knew if I wanted to save her we had to leave. So I planned our escape.
My little angel would put her hands on me and heal me. I searched the internet for answers and eventually studied Reiki trying to understand what it was she was doing. She taught me to talk to my angels and guides by giving me life-saving information from her imaginary friends. One day Andrew, her “friend” told her to tell me to count to five after the robot changed before pulling off. I did and at the count of 3 a taxi jumped the red light and would have side swiped me.
I arrived in Durban with a 10 year old, a change of clothes and duvet and my car. My health took a dive, all sorts of auto-immune diseases surfaced and I suffered from post-traumatic stress. I could then give up or take everything I had learned in life and use it to help us. I continued doing every single self-help course I could find. Last year two of her friends tried to commit suicide, I finally got her to see a psychologist. He said in spite of our past she was a welladjusted young lady and that I had done something right.
In desperation, I attended every parenting, self-help and empowerment workshop I could searching for ways to keep us sane. I sent her to Indigo Joy workshops every month for two years. Then to my horror Debbie said she was going on sabbatical. I cried as I told her, she was our life line, and my child needed her workshops. She smiled,

I know what it feels like to, as a little girl, hold my crying mom and decide that I would take care of her no matter what. I know what it feels like to conclude that I cannot show anger, or be upset, because I couldn’t rock the boat, for fear of making things more difficult for her.
She brought me up "colour-blind" and I remember with our Moslem friends how weird it was to me not to be able to take them to the cinema with me, to socialise publicly. The neighbours stared over the hedges and my grandparents asked which cups ‘those people’ drank from. My mother, Hester, worked very hard to conform in the time that she was bringing me up, but was a natural artist and healer and went through a painful transformation from a well-groomed besuited school mam to a hippy esoteric healer-artist-craft marketing type when I was around 16. The family thought she was going mad; at times so did I. She always used to say to me, "Don't wait till you are in your forties to start living your life, my Blom." For the first time, I really saw her as a person, happy, on the creative path she wanted to be. It was November 2014

I got myself into an abusive relationship at university at the age of 20. It took me many years of processing to get over it and trust myself to fall in love again. After three years of paying off my student loan I realised I was still in a lot of debt and heard that one could make a lot of money teaching English in the Far East. I bought a one way ticket, a backpack and left with about 100 dollars in my pocket, just trusting the process. No job, no contacts, just the address of the Taipei hostel. In those days Taipei was pretty rough, and really polluted, with almost no English spoken at all. It was tough to say the least.

In 1997, I travelled to beautiful South Germany to a Taipei friend’s thirtieth birthday party. I experienced intense dejavu there and knew instantaneously that I had to stay. That exquisite small town ended up being my home for six and a half years.
It was in that time, 1998, when my then boyfriend from London joined me there in Germany, that my life took a very strange twist. I had just been on holiday to South Africa to introduce him to my mother. Little did I know that the last time I would hear my mother’s voice was when he called her to ask my hand in marriage, a really poignant moment. She was murdered in her home in Calvinia by three children just a couple of

I know what it feels like to lie awake night after night, to feel my chest exploding, my heart tearing inside me. I know what it feels like to forget how to pray, to use the Lord’s Prayer like a mantra, wishing death would come to me too, every day for years. I travelled to South Africa, spent three months in Calvinia through the winter, and packed up Hester’s house and shop. At the time we were living in an adorable flat under the eaves, 37 square meters large, no space to store more than a few memories. I said goodbye to my childhood, to my mother’s precious things and to her, in one fell swoop. I touched everything that she had touched, gave thanks and let go. In the same year, at the time of our wedding, my young cousin died after complicated injuries in a car accident, I had a miscarriage, and my grandmother died too. I was supposed to be called ‘Hester Josina’, the family name for thirteen generations. I grew up with a greatgrandmother, a grandmother and a mother who had my back. Suddenly
