Around Dulwich With Sarah Pylas | www.arounddulwich.co.uk |
I
t is the hottest topic on the school run, in the playground, at home and in the pub. It has divided more opinion among our family than the time my husband ordered pineapple on his pizza. It has occupied most of my waking - and sleeping – thoughts. I also bravely went down the rabbit hole that is the East Dulwich Forum and surfaced days later feeling more confused than ever (but with some excellent new handyman recommendations, thank you!). However, it is done and now out of my hands. Yes, my son’s secondary school application is finally in and I don’t want to think about schools again until March 2020… *pours wine* I did still manage to get out and about last month, although I can’t guarantee I didn’t bore my friends to tears with my obsessive school chat. The Great Exhibition has reopened following a make-over and I recently enjoyed a lovely night out there with the Editor of this very mag! The Watson’s General Telegraph on Forest Hill Road is under new management and I have booked it for my husband’s upcoming big 5-0 celebrations – hopefully, the new menu will not feature pineapple as a topping on any foods! There are some really interesting events happening in and around Dulwich this month. Lindsay McCrae, an award-winning cameraman who spent an extraordinary year in the Antarctic filming emperor penguins for the BBC Documentary ‘Dynasties’ is hosting an event at James Allen’s Girls’ School (3 November). Lindsay will be discussing his extraordinary journey and sharing some stories and photographs of his expedition. Tickets are available from Village Books. Visit Bell House to hear Michael Verde, founder of the Memory Bridge initiative, speak about a different way of thinking about dementia and communicating with those who have dementia (15 November). PositivePause Talk Menopause with the Experts at Bell House (20 November). Hear menopause specialists talking about hormonal wellbeing, sharing solutions and empowering women to be healthier and happier. It’s never too early to get a head start on your Christmas shopping. I am not one to leave it all until Christmas Eve (GASP), so these festive events are always welcome. Kingsdale School is hosting a Christmas market in support of St Christopher’s Hospice (16 November). I know I said I wouldn’t

mention schools again, but this doesn’t count! Dulwich Books are hosting two Christmas Shopping Lates (20 & 21 November). The SoLo Craft Fair is returning to St. Barnabas Parish Hall for its Dulwich Christmas Market (30 November); and the Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair is back with stalls, street food, mulled wine, carols, face painting and dancing (30 November). Dulwich Village will be decked out in traditional Christmas style with natural Christmas trees and decorations for the Dulwich Village Christmas Stocking (1 December). Expect special offers in many of the independent shops; arts and crafts activities for children and much more. The Dulwich Charity Lunch returns (5 December) and will be hosted at The Lordship pub this year. Please email angela@semagazines.co.uk for details. If you fancy belting out a few Christmas tunes then head along to Live Band Karaoke at The Ivy House (20 December) and enjoy the thrill of fronting up a live band on stage! And, of course, the festive season wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Catford Broadway to see the new Scummy Mummies Christmas Show (30 November). Expect new jokes, new catsuits and a lot of scummy parenting confessions! Details of all local events including ticket and booking information can be found on our website and Instagram @arounddulwich.

Houseplants
Garden Talk with Janine Winlaw | Instagram @janinewinlaw
Green up you interior with houseplants The houseplant trend continues apace, and with the weather getting colder, it’s a great time to invest in indoor plants. Whether you want to add to your collection, or start one, here’s my pick of easy-to-grow houseplants.
1) Chinese Money Plant (Pilea peperomioides) I love this fab houseplant with unusual circular leaves – and I’m not alone as it’s the most liked indoor plant on Instagram. It’s also easy to propagate, sending out baby plantlets through the soil that can be separated from the main plant and grown on. Care: It likes a bright spot, but without direct light as this can scorch the leaves. Keep soil moist but well drained –letting it dry out between waterings. The large leaves accumulate dust so give them a wipe down.
2) String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii) This is a pretty trailing houseplant with delicate silvery mottled heart-shaped leaves on long vines. It works well on a high shelf, or in a hanging basket. Care: It’s happy in full sun or partial shade, but hates being over watered so let the soil dry out completely before watering again. It also quite likes humidity, which makes it perfect for bathrooms.
3) Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron scandens) This handsome houseplant is great for the houseplant novice, as it’s virtually indestructible. It has lush heart-shaped leaves, taking its name from the Latin ‘philo’ love and ‘dendron’ tree. It’s a jungly creeping plant that can clamber up or trail down - but pinch it out after a leaf to keep it bushier. Care: It likes moderate to bright light, just avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. It thrives under fluorescent light too making it an ideal office plant. Keep the soil lightly moist in spring and autumn letting the surface dry out between waterings in winter. It appreciates the occasional misting and keep the leaves dry by wiping them with a damp cloth. 12 | SE22 - November 2019
Photo by Gláuber Sampaio on Unsplash
4) Snake Plant (Sansevieria) Bold and statuesque with pointy leaves, this is for those looking for something architectural. It’s a great bedroom plant as it pulls toxins from the air during the day then release oxygen at night. Care: Among the toughest plants you can find, it likes light but copes with low light levels and near neglect, only needing the lightest of waterings.
5) Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera deliciosa) This1970s classic is great for those wanting something big and bold, as it can get huge. Its large glossy leaves become deeply cut when mature. Care: Ideally it likes a bright spot - without direct light - and humidity, so mist the leaves, particularly if the room is warm and dr. Keep the soil moist but not water-logged and give them a wash to keep them clean and dust free. Originating from tropical rainforests the aerial roots help it to climb - gently push them back into the soil or into a moss pole if you’d like your cheese plant to grow upwards.
6) Prayer Plant (Maranta leuconeura ) The incredibly striking plant has oval-shaped leaves with light-and-dark- green patterns with red veins, which are often red underneath. Care: It’s a tropical plant that prefers a warm, humid environment but keep the soil slightly drier in winter. It grows best with bright, indirect light from an east or north-facing window – strong direct light causes the eaves to fade. It also copes with fluorescent light. You can choose a shallow pot as it has a shallow root system.

Roast Guinea Fowl Recipes from Suzanne James | www.suzannejames.co.uk
A
utumn is definitely here, and with the change of season comes a desire for more robust, warming meals. Guinea fowl is a great alternative to chicken, it is high in protein and low in cholesterol. It is a good source of vitamin B6, selenium and niacin. The meat has a lovely flavour that is slightly gamey but very subtle (much less so than pheasant or grouse). It makes an impressive meal whether you choose to cook it simply or combine it with more robust flavours. Ask your butcher for freerange guinea fowl, with the giblets removed (but sold with the bird as you will need them to make the stock in the recipe below). Purchased this way a whole guinea fowl will keep in the fridge for 3 or 4 days.
Ingredients Preparation Time: 30 mins Cooking Time 1-2 hours • 2 small guinea fowl, drawn, giblets reserved • 75g/3oz butter • sprigs of tarragon or parsley • 350g/12oz streaky bacon rashers • 300ml/10fl oz dry white wine • 60ml/2 ½ fl oz sherry • salt and pepper • juice of a lemon
Method 1) Put the giblets in a pan, cover with water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 1 hour to make stock. 2) Put 15g/½oz butter and a sprig of tarragon or parsley inside each guinea fowl. Melt 25g/1oz butter and brush liberally over the birds. Cover the breasts with streaky bacon and roast in the oven for 1 hour at 180C/350F/Gas 4. 3) Baste frequently and remove the bacon for the last 20 minutes to allow the meat to brown. 4) Remove the guinea fowl from the oven and carve into joints. 5) Pour most of the fat from the roasting tin, leaving all the residues, then add the wine, sherry and stock. Boil through, then add the guinea fowl. Season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice. 14 | SE22 - November 2019
6) Cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes in the oven. Remove the joints from the sauce and place on a warm serving dish. 7) Strain the sauce and stir in 25g/1oz butter. Pour over the birds and serve puy lentils and vegetables of your choice.

Love & Connection Fitness tips with Leanne Spencer | www.bodyshotperformance.com
W
elcome to month’s blog on Oxytocin - the love and connection hormone. It was World Mental Health Day last month and I thought it would be a good time to continue to talk about this subject and about a hormone inside our body called oxytocin. Oxytocin is a very powerful hormone that also acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain. It comes with the nickname “the bonding and connection hormone” or even “the love hormone” because of its effect on us. How can you increase the release of this hormone inside your body? There are three ways you can boost oxytocin:
Spending time with animals Studies have shown that spending time with animals, specifically, dogs, releases oxytocin in the body, and makes both you and the dog feel good (as you can see from the picture above of myself and my dog). Maybe that’s why so many welcome pets into their homes and why so many therapy centres use animals to help treat and rehabilitate people.
Give people hugs Studies found that this also works with strangers. You hug them for a little bit longer than feels comfortable. I think 20 seconds is what the study found. You get a release of oxytocin, even though you do not know that person - it's really fascinating.
Giving a gift The act of giving increases the release of oxytocin, and makes us feel good as well. That could be a random act of kindness, a surprise gift, donating your time or stepping in to help someone in need. Gratitude also boosts Oxytocin. When you are grateful, you feel real gratitude. It does change your physiology quite considerably. It isn’t concentrating at the end of the day on the three things I am grateful for. I think it is now and again just being present, really grateful for something and sitting with that feeling for a bit, before you move on. That is my gratitude practice. If you think about the acronym called DOSE - a dose of happiness, if you like. 16 | SE22 - November 2019
It’s all about Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphins, and the message is how can you, in a healthy way, generate more of these chemicals to preserve good mental health, to keep you psychologically well. And feeling good about things in the world and your place and yourself. Why not try to activate your happy chemicals by doing some or all of the following - it's amazing for our mental health: • Spend time with animals • Give people hugs • Give gifts • Be grateful • Give someone your time • Help others So, try some of the actions listed above and see how it makes you feel, it could also help someone else who might be silently struggling with their own mental health.

What's On - November Sunday 3 November: West Norwood Feast Community Market 10am-4pm. West Norwood Feast is a community event built around 100 market stalls over five sites along the high street. It is run almost entirely by local volunteers who book the stalls and organise a full programme of free children’s activities and live entertainment. It is a farmer’s market, a craft fair, a flea market and a street food hub all rolled into one, yet the goal has always been to provide an experience that was wider than that. westnorwoodfeast.com
Sunday 3 November: My Penguin Year: Life with the Emperors by Lindsay McCrae 3pm at VWA Auditorium, James Allen’s Girls’ School, 144 East Dulwich Grove, London, SE22 8TE. Lindsay McCrae is an award winning cameraman. He spent an extraordinary year in the Antarctic filming emperor penguins for the BBC Documentary Dynasties, narrated by Sir David Attenborough and watched by 8 million people when it was broadcast in November 2018. He endured unimaginable weather conditions and witnessed behaviour new to science, all the while living isolated on an Antarctic ice shelf for an entire winter that lasts eight months. And finally, how could anyone forget the intervention he and the crew took to save the penguins from death in the storm? ‘My Penguin Year’ is Lindsay’s story and the culmination of a childhood dream. This event is suitable for the whole family – budding cameramen and camerawomen welcome! Tickets: £10/£8. Tickets available from www.village-books.co.uk/events

SE22 Community News Around Dulwich & Beyond ....... Franklins 20th Anniversary
Franklins are celebrating 20 years on Lordship Lane at the end of November. Rodney Franklin was running Franklins Antiques in Camberwell Road and Tim Sheehan was the owner of The Secret Garden operating in the basement and garden of the antique shop. They decided to combine their skills and opened Franklins in November 1999. Since then they have won awards and plaudits from the SE22 locals and far afield. To celebrate this achievement they are organising several events. On Friday 29th November Tim will be reproducing his opening night menu with 1999 prices for the first 50 covers who book and throughout that week, the weekday set lunch will have a glass of wine with each course at 1999 prices. 157 Lordship Lane, East Dulwich, SE22 8HX. 020 8299 9598 | www.franklinsrestaurant.com

Local schools take on environment and road safety Greta Thunberg is the most well-known young climate activist but she’s not alone. Closer to home, local schools are leading the way on the environment and road safety.
Every breath you take Air pollution is a real danger to children’s health. According to Friends of the Earth, Southwark is one of the most climate-friendly boroughs in London, but we must do much more. East Dulwich schools lead by example. Some have used council funding to cover their playground fences with anti-pollution plants ‘green screens’. But what about the classroom? Harris Primary, its PTA and the council have collaborated to install air purifiers in all its classrooms. I was delighted to meet the Year 5 Eco-Committee at their ‘thank you’ ceremony.
Every move you make Pollution is not the only danger for children on our roads. Earlier this year there was a serious incident outside Heber Primary that could have ended much worse. A moving car smashed into the door of one double-parked. The child who opened the door was thankfully unharmed but a few seconds different and it could have ended tragically.
I worked with the headteacher to get a parking camera installed. This allows the council to monitor which cars drive, park or idle dangerously by the school entrance. Some residents expressed understandable concerns over privacy but were reassured when they learned that the camera’s focus is just the road. A second camera is now in place at Goose Green Primary.
I’ll send an SOS to the world Few pupils at Charter School commute by car but traffic is still a problem. I visited the school as the students arrived one morning, alongside council officers, fellow councillors and local residents. I was taken aback at the speed that some drivers hurtled down Melbourne Grove. These speeds are not safe and something has to be done. It may be as simple as road markings and signage to inform drivers of the nearby school. Discussions between the school, council and residents are on-going.
Put on the red light But the most sure-fire way to tackle road safety is to close the street! That’s the goal of the ‘School Streets’ programme: the road outside a school is temporarily closed during school start and end times. It is currently only being trialled in a few locations across the borough but we are lucky to have two of these in Goose Green: Landcroft Road and Tintagel Crescent. So far, the experiment is proving effective and schools want to make it permanent. Residents still retain access to the road, so there no complaints there either. Watch this space to see if they are continued, and rolled out further. 24 | SE22 - November 2019

Art for Art’s Sake Education News from Alleyn's | www.alleyns.org.uk Caroline Dewar, Art teacher at Alleyn’s Junior School, tells us why Art is important for children and advises how to develop your child’s artistic talents. Art is everywhere that we look. Not only is it lots of fun for children but it bestows numerous other benefits that can help them develop and learn now, as well as enhancing their life in the future: • Art improves younger children’s fine motor skills, which in turn helps develop their writing skills, while drawing, painting, and sculpting helps develop visual-spatial processing skills, which is beneficial to both Maths and reading. • Art develops the ability to think creatively which will benefit your child in their academic studies now as well as in their future career. • Research has shown that young people who do Art regularly are far more likely to achieve academically. It is helpful to foster enthusiasm for art from an early age, as visual, tactile and sensory experiences are crucial to a child’s development. Having the opportunity to handle a wide range of media and techniques helps children to develop their skills through experimentation and self-expression, and also enables them to gain confidence. Ideas to get started: • Make Art a fun activity. Do a little each day and let your child get stuck in, exploring textures and using materials that stimulate them. • Use illustrated books as a springboard for telling stories with pictures rather than words. For example, Frida and Bear, in which the characters draw random shapes and swap their papers, inspires children and gets them drawing. You could use this book as a starting point for playful drawing sessions with your child. • Experiment with any materials you have to hand. Junk modelling, using old packaging such as egg boxes or plastic bottles, encourages children to be resourceful and creative. This could be part of a project linked to a topic they are studying at school, or tailored to a specific interest they have, such as animals or fashion design. 30 | SE22 - November 2019
• Visit museums and galleries so they can appreciate artists and craftspeople from different cultures and eras and develop a personal response to artworks. • Ask your child questions about their visual environment and this will foster a wider awareness of, and curiosity about, the world around them. Finally, remember Art is fun and a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child. Join in with them and above all don’t worry about the quality of their (or your!) results – the more you do, the better you get! What next: • The Dulwich Picture Gallery holds family events • The National Gallery has regular family sketching sessions: www.nationalgallery.org.uk/events • Events and workshops at the Tate: www.tate.org.uk/kids • Frida and Bear by Anthony Browne • Books: Art Play and Let’s Make Some Great Art by Marion Deuchars are fun and inspiring books for use with children.

Health Matters
With Becca Teers | www.healthy-habits.me | www.mindplus-experience.com
Using Your Mind for a Change! It can often feel difficult to make positive changes in our lives. You may want to develop a new habit, such as embark on an exercise routine or a healthy eating plan or maybe you’re trying to reduce alcohol or give up smoking. It could be that you want to feel more confident or calmer in certain situations. Feeling better means that you can change your actions or just feel more at ease when you’re at a social event or in your career or studies.
Why is making change tricky? The main reason that creating and maintaining change can be hard is to do with our mindset. Often we let our minds run away with us and control us, but what we don’t realize is, we can actually use our minds to help, rather than hinder us. With some knowledge of how our mind works, we can train it to support us rather than letting it control us with our thoughts and beliefs. Here are some traits of the mind and ideas of how we can use it to work with us and NOT against us; • The mind loves what is familiar and doesn’t like the unfamiliar. We are creatures of habit and every habit of action is run by a habit of thought. To implement a new habit we have to make it familiar by practicing it as much as possible (whilst realizing that at first it will feel uncomfortable). As the habit becomes more familiar, the more comfortable it will get. • Emotions always win over logic! Have you noticed this? You logically know that you want to exercise, but the emotional side of you would rather sit and relax in the warm! To work with this rule of the mind, you need to link the positive emotions that you will feel by getting fit and healthy with the action of actually going for that run. Think about exercising and feeling proud of you, feeling empowered, strong and really good about taking care of yourself! Imagine yourself running and feeling all of these positive feelings and you’ve linked your positive emotions with exercising. This is collaborating with your mind in a great way. 42 | SE22 - November 2019

• The mind responds to the pictures you use internally and the words you say to yourself in your head. The good news is that you can change the pictures and you can change the words. Using the above example of going for a run, if you tell yourself “It’s going to be painful, cold, difficult” and picture yourself running and feeling like this, of course you’re not going to want to run. However, if you change the words to “I’m choosing to do this. I’m choosing to like it. It’s going to get easier every time I go for a run. Running is good for me. It helps me and I enjoy it”. And if you imagine yourself running and saying these things to yourself, the whole idea of running changes, in your head. Try these tips and see if they help you to make a change!

Financial Matters

Is there a Will? It’s almost 250 years since Benjamin Franklin penned the immortal words 'In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." Yet in 2019 some two-thirds of the UK population do not have a valid Will in place. The consequences of such poor planning will result in the rules of intestacy determining the distribution of their assets on death plus the added bonus of potentially higher levels of inheritance tax (IHT) being paid to the treasury. IHT is currently 40%. Earlier this year Brenda exposed her family to the challenges of dying intestate. In 2001, Brenda had a Will written and had always said that her two adult children should be the beneficiaries of her estate. In 2013, Brenda got married and continued to enjoy life unabated. Sadly, earlier this year, Brenda died from an ongoing illness. Despite making a Will some 18 years ago, Brenda died intestate. How is this possible? In England & Wales, marriage automatically makes any previous Will void unless your Will was prepared in anticipation of marriage. It is reasonable to state that Brenda’s Will in 2001 did not have some long range forecast built in. Therefore her death was intestate. The rules of intestacy provides a hierarchy of beneficiaries from the estate of the deceased such as Brenda. Unfortunately, the rules do not apply in accordance with the emotional thoughts or wants of individuals. In the case of Brenda, her two adult children were not the main beneficiary of her estate. Since Brenda died intestate her husband was the first beneficiary of her estate. Moreover as her estate did not exceed £250,000 her husband was the sole beneficiary of her estate at the expense of her two adult children. All the pronouncements that her children should enjoy her hard work had not been expressed in a new Will post marriage. Regretfully, Brenda’s two adult children can only rely on the good nature of her husband. Such cases are repeated across the borough and country every day. Yet, two-thirds of the population fail to act. Perhaps individuals are hoping it will all come good on the night or day! In truth it will not. 44 | SE22 - November 2019

Without a valid Will in place, estates are distributed under the rules of intestacy. Consequently, the wants, thoughts, or expectations of the deceased become irrelevant. Sometimes, loved ones of the deceased apply to the courts in an attempt to give the deceased a voice from the grave. However, this journey is costly, time consuming and often leaves loved ones disappointed with the outcome. This begs the question, is this how the estate of any deceased, should be consumed? Furthermore dying intestate presents loved ones of the deceased with additional problems. The estate may be subjected to a higher level of IHT than had a Will been in place. Administration of an intestate estate is often more time consuming and costly. Although, it is true that a Will may be challenged or contested, the existence of a Will often provides the loved ones of the deceased with a greater peace of mind. A Will is a key feature in any inheritance tax planning strategy. Anyone who satisfies at least one of the following conditions should have a Will: • Single with family and/or friends • Married / Civil Partnership • Cohabitee • A parent • Business owner However, if you are happy leaving your loved ones with a problem to resolve on your death; the likelihood of paying more IHT; and/or risk your estate being passed to the Crown, then feel free to carry on business as usual.

he Dulwich Literary Festival returns 6th -13th November with an unmissable week of events featuring the internationally bestselling author of Wild Swans Jung Chang, Booker Prizewinning writer Howard Jacobson, TV presenter and children’s author Konnie Huq, and the sensational author behind BBC hit series Apple Tree Yard, Louise Doughty. A highlight of the London literary calendar, this year’s festival will take place at Dulwich College, the festival’s venue partner, and Dulwich Books, opening with an enlightening event on ‘mudlarking’ with Lara Maiklem. Lara will uncover a new history of the old city through 15 years of findings from the banks of the River Thames. Classicist, stand-up comedian & Radio 4 broadcaster Natalie Haynes will kick start the main weekend with a Friday night foray into the women myths forgot as she discusses her new book A Thousand Ships, a retelling of the Trojan War from an all-female perspective. By giving voices to the women the myths forgot, Natalie brings new life to these ancient tales.
The weekend will also include an opportunity to hear acclaimed comic novelist Howard Jacobson (Booker Prize-winning author of The Finkler Question) discuss his latest work, Live A Little, an irresistibly funny account of falling in love at the end of your life – a novel to make you consider all the paths not taken, and whether you could still change course. Sunday Times bestselling author Louise Doughty will be in conversation with journalist Anita Sethi about her writing career, including her latest novel, Platform Seven, a gripping, brilliant, original and eerily-timely novel, and her bestselling & critically-acclaimed title, Apple Tree Yard, which was adapted into a hit BBC TV series. Featuring quizzes, games and exploding science experiments, this will be a fantastic session for inquisitive children aged 7+. The Last Word - Eva Viola Tedeschi Your favourite place for a night out? Definitely a show in the West End! And I haven't seen one in years! When you have kids your social life changes from out-every-night to weekendplay dates, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Where are you to be found on Saturday? On a typical Saturday you would find me strolling down Lordship lane with my daughters and my dog, doing my shopping for the week while Andrej would be busy in serving customers at our shop.
Coffee or tea? Where? I love my decaf oat milk one shot latte (yes I am a fussy one!) from “lane8” the new addition to Melbourne Grove. But tea is always a good choice when I need to concentrate on work - too much caffeine can muddle the brain! My name is Eva and I have been a lot of things in my life; a mum, a life & business partner, a project manager, a business owner and now a virtual assistant supporting small businesses like mine!
How long have you lived in the area? Three years. I moved to East Dulwich from Brockley although I am originally from Milan, where I lived until I was 23.
What brought you here?
The best meal I’ve ever had.. at “La Lucciola”, my favourite restaurant in Castiglioncello, on the Tuscany seaside. They serve the best fresh fish I've ever eaten!
Cafe, pub or bar? I can’t decide between the three! Cafe for brunch, better if Poached (the new place that has taken over our old coffee shop), pub at the weekend for a Sunday roast and bar for a summer night out!
My thirst for adventure. I was only 25 when my partner, Andrej, and I decided to open our first business, La Scala coffee shop on Grove Vale. We ran the coffee shop for 5 years, before we decided to do something a little different and opened our second business, a gift shop called ‘Home’, just next-door to where La Scala was!
Where’s your favourite place to walk?
What has changed most during that time?
Apart from the many books I read to my daughter that we borrow from the library, I am reading “Sonderkommando” written by Shlomo Venezia. I am fascinated by history and how it contributed to form who we are now.
Everything has changed very fast as it commonly happens here in London! After two years of running La Scala, we had our first daughter, Fiona, followed by the arrival of our second baby Bianca that coincided with the closure of the cafe and the opening of our gift shop! It's unbelievable how much life can change in five years!
The one thing you couldn’t do without? At the risk of sounding sappy, I must say my other half. We've spent a third of our life together and I couldn't really imagine my life without him. I am the train, he's the railway: he keeps me on-track while I thunder into the unknown. 48 | SE22 - November 2019
I love taking my dog for a walk to the mysterious Nunhead cemetery. It helps me have a little alone time and get back to being me and not just a mum!
The book I’m reading at the moment..
My perfect holiday.. at my favourite hotel K2 in Madesimo in the mountains on the border between Italy and Switzerland. I love skiing and every year I look forward to 'la settimana bianca' translated 'the white week' which brings me back to when I was a child. Good memories. www.onthedot.online www.welcomehome.london
