I
n 2020, in full quarantine, I received on Instagram a message from a musician in Turkey. He was preparing an album based on George Bataille, and in internet research, he found my works from almost 30 years ago. These weres that I presented at Livraria Dantes, woodcuts based on the book “Minha Mãe” by Baitalle. We became friends, and we plan to make a collaboration still under study. Emin Gok had his work released on the Kanto Records label, and my work with interference from another equally Turkish artist, Cem Altinöz was used on the cover. I was taken by nostalgia when I reviewed these works, remembering a different time of great intensity. I decided to revisit Baitaille’s books and created a new series. I searched for the unhewn, using the wood’s rough line the solidity of the bodies mixed with the intensity of the gesture. Looking for eroticism as an interior experience highlights the discontinuity of “being” and the confusion of different subjects.
