'The hardest prison to escape is in your mind' - unknown

Daily our lives are jam packed and filled with noise, clutter, chaos, worries and stresses. Our minds are constantly sorting stuff and feeding us information but unlike our surroundings, it is not as easy to pick up the pieces and just put them away. Therefore, a process needs to be put in place to simplify the cleansing of the mind. Every day I go on a daily walk with my thoughts and spend time consciously thinking, breathing and enjoying nature. There are multiple benefits of clearing the mind, including less stress, better sleep and less distraction, yet the scars and old hurts are often left layered and built upon, taking conscious and unconscious space in the mind. Little changes can make a big difference and although it takes a little bit of practice, it is not difficult to learn to declutter your mind. Below are five tips on decluttering your mind 1. words back, you can't always change situations. The Dali Lama has a quote 'If you have fear of some pains or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry'. 2. Let go of your fears and worries - There is no point in worrying so let it go, let it go, let it go. Let go of the frustration, let go of the anger and let go of the worry. Also, don't hold grudges. It is healthier to be mindful and happy than to store negative emotions. 3. Breathe - this is very effective. Focus on your breathing and take deep breaths while focussing. The apple watch has a good app for breathing called Breathe. There are also other apps available for phones. The apps are great as they guide the breathing as you focus on deep breaths that clear the mind. 4. Journal - write it down, explore areas of your life and journal about it to eliminate it or pursue it. This is a great way of clearing your head of the ideas you're storing and also a fantastic way to build content for blogging if you like to blog. 5. Go for a walk in nature - Just being in nature if a fabulous way to free the mind from daily stresses and worries. Going for a walk, a jog or doing some gardening clears the head. When out in nature detox by not using a phone or electronic device in order to feel the full benefits of the environment your in. When I go for my daily walks. I do take videos and photos but I also spend most of the time with no electronic device. I sit and listen to the birds, the waves, the rippling water and the wildlife and air around me. I find it very relaxing and feel stressed on the days that I don't spend at least forty minutes out walking somewhere beautiful around the Central Coast NSW where I live. I share my walks and talks on youtube. Japan have a term for enjoying nature among the trees called ' forest bathing'. Forest bathing is proven to lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduce stress, boost the immune system and overall wellbeing. To just sit among the trees and do nothing but enjoy, relax and appreciate nature provides a grounding effect that benefits and frees us from the stresses of daily life and business. If you can't get away to a park or to a nature area but have to debunk your mind than chat to a friend. Offloading to a friend is great for your mental sanity, but remember to listen to them as they listen to you. Have a great day.
