I
was born and raised in Sheffield and caught the fishing bug at the tender age of 8 when fishing the River Trent at Misterton for Barbel. I moved on to fishing for carp when I was around 12 years old when fishing local day ticket lakes. Since then my desire and passion to catch carp has grown and saw me move on to fishing the likes of A1 Pits (around 65 acres) as soon as I could drive myself there. I used to fish around three overnighters a week in between work and had reasonable success. Before working within the angling trade I worked within the marketing and advertising sector for an advertising agency specialising within the motors industry up and down the UK based in Sheffield. I started working for angling publications as Editorial Assistant alongside Lewis Porter at the end of 2009 and have since worked alongside Jerry Bridger for two years before taking up my role as Editor for, what I would class as the best instructional carp fishing magazine on the shelves. My aim is to make an already great magazine even better and by working with the manufacturers and contributors on a daily basis like I do this can only help push the magazine forward even further. I still live in Sheffield with my wife Kirsty and although there aren’t too many great carp fishing waters in the area I try and fit in as much fishing as possible within a very busy work and family life. Most of my angling is done whilst out shooting features with contributors, which enables me to fish lakes I normally wouldn’t be able to, which helps give me more dimensions to my angling as the variation in waters can be huge from fishing on a feature one week to the next. I’d say that to date one of my most memorable sessions would be 24-hours that I fished on the famous Withy Pool, yes I did manage to catch, but unfortunately it wasn’t one of the few originals that are left in there.
