The
Narrowboat Experience Why canal boat holidays are so great for families… It’s a real adventure with everyone heading off together, looking out for interesting things to see and do along the way; We provide you with buoyancy aids and boat steering tuition so everyone can enjoy learning together to master navigation skills and work the locks; Enjoy learning the boating lingo together - ‘windlass’, ‘winding hole’ and ‘tiller’, ‘bow’, ‘stern’, ‘port’ and ‘starboard’, spot wildlife, including the flashing blue of the kingfisher and ‘plop’ of the water vole; Dust-off long neglected cards and board games for cosy onboard evening entertainment (though our boats all have TVs and DVD-players too!); Explore mile-upon-mile of traffic-free towpaths by foot or by bike (up to two bikes can be stored on the roof of the boat); Breathe in plenty of fresh air to aid a peaceful night’s sleep.
Travelling at less than four miles an hour, a narrowboat holiday offers the fastest way to slow down and the chance to sight-see at a relaxed pace. As soon as you are underway, stress levels are immediately reduced and a steadier pace of life takes over. From fields and wildlife to fascinating urban landscapes with top attractions, you’ll see things differently from a canal boat. But it’s also an adventure, as you set off together – with family or friends - to explore the waterway ahead. Your canal boat becomes your floating hotel room, giving you the chance to stay where you choose, from vibrant city centres to remote rural backwaters. Most mooring sites are free, so you stay somewhere different every night! You can moor up in the centre of top destinations such as Bath, Birmingham, Oxford, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Chester; visit significant historic sites including the soaring majesty of the World Heritage Pontcysyllte Aqueduct; or enjoy world class attractions - Alton Towers, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Thermae Spa in Bath.
The greener way
A boating holiday is estimated to be 20 times better for the planet than spending two hours flying to a holiday overseas and as soon as you swap your car for a boat, you’ll be using a third of the fuel.
Pubs galore!
With hundreds of waterside pubs, a watering hole is never far away, many of them historic rural locals.
Waterways provide homes for large numbers of birds, plants and animals, including many protected species - the water vole, otter and kingfisher, so there’s always something special to look out for.
Enjoy the comforts of home
Today’s canal boats are fully equipped with all the essential mod cons: fully equipped kitchens; central heating; hot water; TV/DVD; showers and flushing toilets.
You can bring your pet with you
The Narrowboat Experience
It’s easy for first-timers to learn to operate our boats. And with our nationally accredited handover and tuition, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and in control before you set off. See page 14 for details.
Watch out for wildlife
Up to two pets are welcome on all our boats, so they don’t have to miss out on the family holiday! Plus the first pet goes free.
Fair fuel costs!
All our boats start with a full tank of fuel - plenty to cover a steady two week cruise. You pay a fuel deposit when you book your holiday – this is £90 per week or £50 per short break. When you bring the boat back to us the balance of the deposit is refundable after deducting the fuel used. If you have used fuel in excess of the deposit, you will be asked to pay the difference.
Wi-Fi
Once again we’ve listened to our customers! 2015 sees the introduction of a limited number of Wi-Fi hubs aboard selected boats in our fleet. These hubs provide connection to the Internet from aboard the boat – signal permitting – and allow you to keep in touch whilst on holiday. They come with a limited amount of download so they are no substitute for your home broadband; they work in a similar way to a smartphone so are at the mercy of signal strength, which of course depends on your location. Think of them more of a way to ‘check-in’ whilst you’re on holiday as opposed to being ‘fully connected’ After all, everyone deserves to get away from it all from time to time….. Further enquiries and to see if a hub is available for your cruise, call our Booking Team on 0117 304 1122.

The
simple
pleasures a
canal
holiday
of
boat
Musician Stan Cullimore, former member of the 80’s band The Housemartins, shares his memories of a recent boating holiday on one of England’s many charming canals. This morning I got out of bed, opened the curtains and looked out of the window. First thing I saw was a man on a bicycle attempting to herd geese off his lawn. He obviously didn’t like their attitude. After a few moments of watching this slice of life gently unfold, I strolled over to the kitchen and put the kettle on. While waiting for it to boil, I passed the time counting feet as people scurried by on their way to work. See, that’s the thing with a canal boat holiday. You never know exactly what you’re going to get. Obviously, you’re expecting to find some water, flowers and hopefully some pubs along the way. No doubt you’re going to enjoy more tranquillity than you could shake a stick at. But, after you’ve ticked those boxes, it’s the details that make the adventure worthwhile. This particular adventure had started a week earlier when I went online to the Anglo Welsh website and searched for a holiday. Didn’t care where I started from, or what sort of craft it was. I just needed a short break on a boat. Turns out that Silver Dusk was available and after a few clicks of the mouse, she was mine from Monday to Friday, and would be waiting for us at Tardebigge, on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal near Bromsgrove. So the wife and I, along with Mabel the dog, turned up, and got on board our narrowboat. As always with these guys, the staff who showed us over the boat were lovely, the boat itself was really comfy and within minutes we were off and cruising.
Holiday Diary At which point, it’s time for a confession. I’m rubbish at research. Unlike most canal boat holiday-makers, I hadn’t given a thought to our route. As our newfound friend Tony waved us off, I asked him which way he thought we should head. His answer was pithy but perfect. Going south meant doing loads of locks. Going north meant hardly any. So we went north. The first night we moored up in the midst of the countryside, waking to find a field of cows watching us intently as we ate breakfast. The next night we moored beside a sign showing us the way to The Blue Bell. A cider house that was full of cheerful locals, had a dog-friendly bar and which also served cider that went straight to your legs. After a lie-in the next day to sleep off the effects, we found ourselves chugging slowly along a green corridor that wiggled its way deceptively into the watery heart of Birmingham, Gas Street Basin. Which is where I saw a man herding geese the next morning. And in case you’re wondering, he did a great job of getting those geese off his lawn. He then pedalled off with the most enormous and contented grin on his face.

If only he knew! They were back there, full of attitude, before the kettle had even boiled.

e want your boat to be in tip top condition when you collect it, so it will be ready from 3pm in the afternoon on your holiday start date.
Before you set off, one of our instructors will take you through everything you need to know for your canal boat holiday - how to start the engine; fill up with water; steering; slow down; moor up; and work the locks. You will also be taken through the basics of canal etiquette – from which side to drive on (the middle), how to steer and work the locks to canal etiquette and the best places to moor-up and turn. There is a manual on board every boat if you need to check on anything and our engineering teams are always on hand – 24 hours a day - to help over the phone or come out to you if you need them. With your tuition complete, you will be ready to enjoy the perfect holiday afloat. We know you will find it both relaxing and revitalizing, with something new to see every minute and the chance to work as a team to work the locks, steer the boat and plan your next stop. It is a fun, exciting experience for all the family to enjoy.

Here are some useful points to bear in mind to help you prepare for your trip:
Going through locks Each lock takes about 20 minutes to go through. Some locks you operate yourself and others are operated by lock-keepers. There is no mystery to using locks – just a series of step-by-step tasks. A lock is simply a chamber with gates at either end. By emptying or filling that chamber with water, your boat can move up or down onto a new section of the waterway.
Mooring up Your boat will not be permitted to cruise at night so make sure you are moored by nightfall. Whilst you can choose where you stop for the night, use sign-posted visitor moorings wherever possible, and always moor to the towpath if you can. If you’d like to find out more about boat handling ahead of your holiday, you can download a free copy of the Canal & River Trust’s boater’s handbook from www.canalrivertrust.org.uk.

Returning your boat Boats need to be returned by 9am on the final day of your holiday or the afternoon before if you’ve made arrangements with the booking team, so bear this in mind when deciding where you will moor on your last night.
Fair fuel costs! All our boats start with a full tank of fuel - plenty to cover a steady two week cruise. They come with a limited amount of download so they are no substitute for your home broadband; they work in a similar way to a smartphone so are at the mercy of signal strength, which of course depends on your location. et within the marina in the picturesque Cotswold town of Bradford on Avon, our base is a perfect start point for a range of holidays to suit all levels of experience and endeavour!
You can head west towards Bath and onto Bristol for culture and retail therapy or you can head east for Caen Hill locks in Devizes and a real adventure – both just a gentle cruise away and both requiring a sense of adventure. In Bath, to carry all your purchases and in Devizes, bags of enthusiasm and energy!
Eastwards will take you through some of Wiltshire’s best scenery towards the historic, pretty market town of Devizes and the flight of 29 Caen Hill locks, rising 235ft and taking around 5-6 hours to do. Locks may seem a bit daunting at first but they’re easy once you’ve gone through there’s often an appreciative audience ready to applaud! Travelling through the heart of an ancient landscape, passing close to the Avebury Stones, you can wind your way onwards to Hungerford, Newbury and Reading on a longer cruise.
Before you head off, you might like to explore the eclectic mix of Saxon, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Industrial Revolution architecture and the Tithe Barn is worth a visit – you might recognize it as it’s been used as a film set on many occasions.

s you cruise on by in your Anglo Welsh narrowboat you have the room with an amazing view, which is ideal to take in the picture perfect scenery as you cruise past.
From Wootton Wawen you can cruise in a number of directions. Head south for beautiful Stratford upon Avon which is a leisurely short cruise away. Arrive on your first morning to explore the Shakespeare scene. Rich in culture and history, this beautiful town, set on the banks of the River Avon, is one of the most popular destinations in the UK. Why not moor up in your ‘floating hotel room’ and take time out to steep yourself in all things Stratford.
From here you could buy a license and lock down onto the River Avon, cruising further southwards through the countryside to Evesham and Tewkesbury. Head north from Wootton and you’ll be heading for Birmingham. Not only fantastic shops and restaurants but also an amazing blend of old and new architecture, only truly appreciated from the canal. The Symphony Hall, The National Indoor Arena, The Sealife Centre, The Jewellery Quarter, Chinatown ...something for everyone. Don’t fancy the bright lights, big city? Then keep it rural by heading onto The Grand Union Canal at Kingswood Junction. Cruise down to Warwick and its castle and take in the famous ‘Hatton Flight’ of locks for a real narrowboating treat.

f you’re the kind of person who likes lots of choices, then this is the base for you. We’re situated on the crossroads (or should that be cross canals?) of the Staffordshire and Worcester and Trent and Mersey, so your first decision will be which way to go – and that depends on the cruising criteria. Head north on the Trent and Mersey and you can join the Caldon Canal, taking you to Froghall. Alton Towers theme park is only a short taxi ride away, so if you’re in the mood for a thrilling, mind -boggling, gravitydefying experience, this is it! Then you can come back to your boat to get your head (and body) back into ‘slow, relaxing, chilling out mode’. The Churnet Valley Railway takes you on a journey back in time to the classic days of steam railway travel on a rural line that passes through

The beautiful Tixall Wide is just 15 minutes cruise from the base where the canal opens up to the size of a lake. It was commissioned by the landowner in the early 1770’s who wanted to enjoy a better view from his estate. We say Thank You to him as we now have a beautiful expanse of water where wildlife flourishes. Further along the Staffordshire and Worcester canal you’ll come across Victorian Wightwick Manor complete with William Morris interiors and colourful garden - and Kinver Edge with its unique rock-carved houses. Both just a short walk from the canal and well worth a visit. As well as access to the four major ‘Rings’, the area is rich in history and heritage - stately homes, castles, gardens, pretty villages and welcoming traditional pubs...the perfect respite (and ‘rest bite’) after a hard day cruising!

There’s a choice of short and long breaks, which will take in the glorious English countryside through Cheshire and Shropshire or even the delights of North Wales. Cruising north you’ll be heading for Chester – old enough to make your spine tingle, yet young enough in spirit to be effortlessly fashionable. Small enough to explore easily on foot, but big enough to be wonderfully cosmopolitan. They are big on river culture here, so you’ll find you’ll be catered for impeccably with a host of high quality bars and restaurants.
With an additional seven miles of The Montgomery Canal also recently restored, a cruise along ‘The Monty’ is a must for conservation and wildlife enthusiasts. ll Anglo Welsh holidays are memorable, but this one might literally come highest on the list! And it represents the ‘Welsh’ part of our name…..
Trevor’s awesome Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, nicknamed the ‘Stream in the Sky’ for obvious reasons, carries the Llangollen canal 126ft high above the River Dee. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument; a Grade I Listed structure and was granted World Heritage status in June 2009, putting it on an equal footing with the Great Barrier Reef and Statue of Liberty! It towers above the heart of this breathtaking 18km long site, stretching from Gledrid Bridge near Rhoswiel in Wales, to the Horseshoe Falls, on the River Dee.
Situated right on the doorstep of our picturesque base, you can choose the Llangollen cruise for the experience of a lifetime. In your boat, the effect is that of being suspended in mid-air. The views are spectacular, so don’t forget your camera! With delightful Llangollen town only a two hour cruise away, don’t miss out on a visit to The Steam Railway Centre. Navigate the Llangollen to experience one of the UK’s most stunning stretches of inland waterway. There are tunnels, lift bridges and not too many locks as you roll through the rolling plains, rich in wildlife. The Dee Valley with its little towns of Chirk and Corwen and Lake Bala, is a gateway of discovery to the hidden secrets of this fascinating area of North Wales.

our holiday starts in the small Yorkshire town of Silsden, which dates back to Saxon times, with its duck pond in the centre of the main street.
to the river Aire. It is also the start of a flight of six locks, followed quickly by another six locks at Bank Newton, hailed by many as the most beautiful locks on the whole canal system.
Going west from Silsden, the canal passes through the typical Yorkshire stone built villages of Kildwick and Farnhill and on into a dense wooded area famous for its bluebells and deer.
These take the canal up into the Dales with stunning views, until you reach the hamlet of East Marton, with its famous double arch bridge. From here, continue into the countryside to the three locks at Greenberfield, also in a very picturesque setting.
Through Bradley - a typical ‘mill village’ with cricket field and a very nice country pub. Then on to Skipton, the ‘Gateway to the Dales’ with a market four days a week, and a Farmers’ market once a month. The canal continues through countryside to the delightful village of Gargrave, where it runs close
These locks take the canal onto the summit, and through Salterforth, then to Foulridge, and the famous mile long tunnel (ask about the story of the swimming cow!!) If you have longer on the canal, and are feeling energetic, you can carry on through the Lancashire cotton towns, over Burnley embankment
Route
If you decide to travel east from Silsden towards Leeds, then, along with swing bridges, you will encounter the famous Grade 1 listed ‘Bingley Five Rise’ locks, which take you down 60ft followed by ‘Bingley Three Rise’ which drop a mere 29ft. There are a few more locks before you reach Saltaire, which is a World Heritage Site built by Sir Titus Salt for his mill workers. Here you can visit Salts Mill, which has an art gallery showing the work of David Hockney, a café and various other shops. Leaving Saltaire, you travel parallel with the River Aire into the centre of Leeds. There’s loads more to learn about the Leeds & Liverpool, so give us

ver the next few pages you’ll be able to look in a bit more depth at the complete range of stylish layouts and spacious set-ups of our extensive fleet. With boats that sleep from 2 to 12 people comfortably, it’s up to you to decide how much space you need for your holiday. This symbol guide indicates the location of berths, bathrooms, storage and other facilities on board. Each layout has a weekly price band number and a short break price band letter which refer to the holiday prices on page 52. When a +2 is shown in the layout this means an extra two berths can be made up by converting the dining area to an extra double, or in some cases, two extra singles. If you are unsure of anything, as always, please call our booking team on 0117 3041122 for a ‘phone walk-round’ of the boat.

014 saw huge media coverage of the UK’s fantastic canal system. We are very proud to have been a part of making some of these iconic programmes… Prunella Scales & Timothy West filming Channel 4’s series “Great Canal Journeys”. Watch out for the second series coming to your screens soon… It has been an absolute pleasure to provide boats and support for both series and ‘Pru & Tim’ are proof that the canals are for everyone!
Julia Bradbury filming her upcoming 5 part ‘primetime’ ITV series “The Wonder of Britain” Julia took our aptly names Bond Class boat across the Ponty Aqueduct and amazed us all with her in depth knowledge of the structure and it’s history…”not just a very pretty face” said our Managing Director, Rob Lawrence
He is such a nice chap we didn’t even correct him about them being “Narrowboats”!

YOUR SIGNATURE IS REQUIRED TO VALIDATE INSURANCE WHILST OUT ON THE BOAT. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CRUISE WITHOUT GIVING THIS SIGNED ACCEPTANCE OF OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Terms and conditions Please read these terms and conditions carefully when you book a holiday with us you are entering into a contract, which binds us in various ways. You are strongly advised to ensure you have adequate personal travel insurance, which should also cover any of your potential liabilities in this agreement. 1. Definitions.“The Company” means Anglo Welsh Ltd trading as Anglo Welsh Waterway Holidays.“The Hirer” means the designated Skipper named on the Handover Certificate. Where there is more than one Hirer, they shall be individually responsible and liable under this agreement. 2. Booking Agreement. A booking is a legally binding contract. Submission of a booking form is an offer by the Hirer and an agreement to the Company’s Terms and Conditions. The booking agreement is offered only if and when the Company issues a written boat hire confirmation. The entire contract between the Company and the hirer is contained in these conditions, the booking form and the boat handover certificate. No representations, terms, warranty or condition expressed or implied shall be deemed to be or have been made or agreed or imported by reference to any other by writing, advertisement or conversation. No Agent or representative of the Company has any right to alter or vary or waive any of these conditions. Nor is any such person authorised to undertake any liability whatsoever on behalf of the company. Where more than one boat is booked on the same booking form each boat shall be deemed to the subject of a separate contract. 3. Group Bookings, Age Limits and Unsuitable Hirers. The Hirer must be aged 18 years or older. The Hirer warrants that whenever the boat is driven by a person aged under 18, that they will at all times be under the close supervision of a competent person aged 18 years or older. The Hirer warrants that two able body people aged 18 years or older will be aboard the boat, taking responsibility of boat and crew at all times. The Hirer must provide on the booking form all details of all persons in their party. On arrival at the base, the boat handover certificate must be completed in full. The company reserves the right to cancel any booking made in contravention of either of the above conditions, on or before the start date and any monies paid to the company shall be forfeit. The company may, at its discretion, cancel any booking and refuse to handover the boats to any person or group who in the company’s opinion is not suitable to take charge on the grounds of infirmity, ill health, disability, or who have failed to demonstrate a reasonable standard of competence following appropriate instruction in boat handling. In this event, the company will refund all monies paid for the boat hire and the contract shall be discharged without any further liability on either party. The company may, at its discretion, cancel any booking and refuse to handover the boat to any person or group who in the company’s opinion is not suitable to take charge on the grounds of suspected influence of alcohol or drugs. In this event, the company will not refund any monies paid for the boat hire and the contract shall be discharged without any further liability on either party. The company may repossess the boat at any time if in the opinion of the company, the Hirer is unsuitable for the above reasons, or, if the Hirer is not behaving responsibly, or if the boat or any persons are at risk. In this event, the Hirer shall remain liable to pay the full hire price and no refund will be given. Anglo Welsh are one of the few operators who will entertain celebratory parties. Sadly, the actions of the few have repercussions on the many. Therefore, any booking may be required to place a pre-authorised deposit of £250 per boat. All or a portion of this amount may be retained in the event of any transgressions to our Terms and Conditions. In the event of a party or boat declining to register this deposit upon request, the boat will not be handed over to the customer and all monies paid by the customer for the holiday shall be forfeit. Additional Deposits of up to £100 per person may be required at the discretion of Anglo Welsh Ltd. For certain parties. The deposit will be returned to you when you have finished your holiday, providing the boat and its equipment is returned on time, undamaged, clean and tidy, with no third party claim. 4. Cancellations & Changes. The agreement including the payment terms is a legally binding contract and may not be cancelled or amended except as provided in the conditions. Should the Hirer wish to cancel or amend the booking, they must advise the company immediately by telephone and at the same time send written confirmation by Recorded Delivery post. The company reserves the right to levy an administration charge of £35 for any alteration to a booking made by the Hirer after it has issued a booking confirmation. In the event of a cancellation, the deposit will be forfeited and the Hirer will pay the balance on the due date. The company may, at its discretion, waive the balance fee if the company successfully re-lets the boat for the whole of the hire period. It is therefore strongly recommended that the Hirers protect themselves against cancellation liability by taking out cancellation protection. 5. Hire Period, Collection and Return of the Boat. The hire period is as shown on the booking confirmation sheet. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARE AT THE BASE IN TIME TO COLLECT YOUR BOAT. THE ‘WINDOW’ FOR ARRIVAL IS 14.00 - 16.00. YOU MUST ARRANGE TO ARRIVE AT THE BASE WITHIN THIS ‘WINDOW’. YOU MUST ARRIVE AT THE BASE IN TIME TO BOARD YOUR BOAT AND HAVE PROPER INSTRUCTION BEFORE YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO CRUISE. Check in for holidays is from 14.00. Boats are available from 15.00. In order to cruise on the first day of your holiday, you must arrive at the base before 16.00. If you arrive after 16.00 you may not have a “boat handover” and you will not be able to cruise the boat. All bases are closed from 17.00 and you will not be able to gain access. Before departure, the company will give the Hirer such instructions
and trials as the company sees fit, and requires the Hirer to check and sign for contents, inventory and Boat Acceptance. In the event that the boat is unavailable because of circumstances beyond the company’s control, the company may substitute a boat of similar accommodation, but if no such boat is available, the company shall refund any payments made but shall not otherwise be liable and the contract shall be discharged. The boat shall be returned to the company’s hire base no later than 9am on the morning of the end date. The boat shall be vacated and left in a clean and tidy condition by 9.30 am on the morning of the end date. The boat may not be returned to the base early except by prior arrangement in writing with Anglo Welsh’s Head Office. Hirers are responsible for ensuring their cruising schedule allows them ample time to return to the base by the stated time. Breach of this condition will incur a minimum additional charge of £50 per hour or part thereof. In addition, the Hirer will be liable for any extra costs incurred by the company as a result of the boat not being ready for the next Hirer. Where the company has to recover a boat and return it to the base, the Hirer shall be liable for all costs incurred.
boat must be refuelled and any difference to the deposit paid will be refunded or charged. The Boat Owner or the Company may make a fuel surcharge if there is any material increase of diesel or gas prices or duty. Whilst water supply and moorings on the canals are normally free of charge, any costs incurred are the responsibility of the Hirer. Where pump-outs are required to toilet tanks, the cost is the responsibility of the Hirer unless carried out at the Company’s base.
6. Prices and Payment. All prices stated are inclusive of V.A.T. and are subject to any changes in V.A.T. rate prior to the final payment being made.
14. Complaints. The Hirer will check the boat and its equipment fully, immediately after taking possession of the boat. Any shortcomings must be brought to the company’s attention BEFORE the boat leaves the base. The Hirer shall sign a Boat Acceptance form before departure and thereafter the Hirer is completely responsible for the boat its equipment and its operation until it is handed back to the company at the end of the hire. Any shortcomings subsequently discovered shall immediately be noticed to the company by telephone in order to give the company the opportunity to take necessary remedial action. The company shall not be liable in respect of any matter not so noticed immediately.
7. Insurance. The boats, their equipment and inventory are insured by the company against public liability risks. The company’s insurance does not cover personal accidents or loss or damage to personal effects. Hirers and their crews are strongly advised to take out their own personal insurance cover. The Hirer shall pay a compulsory £50.00 accidental damage waiver for each booking. Accidental damage waiver does not cover damage arising from speeding, contact with a lock sill causing damage to the rudder, skeg or stern gear, TV aerials, chimneys, malicious or intentional damage to the boat, or to other boats and or property, loss or damage of boat inventory and equipment. The late return of a boat or return of the boat in an unclean condition is not covered by the Accidental damage waiver. The Hirer will indemnify the company against all costs, damage, expenses, liability and claims howsoever arising from the negligence, neglect or default of the Hirer to the extent that they are not covered by the company’s policy. 8. Obeying the Rules of the Waterways. The Hirer agrees to comply with the following rules at all times for the Health & Safety of the persons on the boat and other persons and the boat and its property: - The boat may not tow nor may it be allowed to be towed by another craft, except under professional assistance in the event of an emergency. The Hirer is in charge of the boat and is responsible for its safe navigation and return. In the event of an accident the hirer must: -Get full details of all other persons involved as well as relevant boat names and registrations. The Hirer must inform the company immediately with full details. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ADMIT OR ALLOW ANOTHER PERSON ABOARD THE BOAT TO ADMIT ANY LIABILITY TO ANY OTHER PERSON. Not have repairs carried out without the company’s express permission. At all times obtain and follow the company’s instructions. In the event that the company’s insurance cover is prejudiced or invalidated by any failure on the part of the Hirer to comply with the provisions of this condition, the Hirer shall indemnify the company in respect of liability claims, loss, damage or expenses incurred. The Hirer shall be responsible for getting the boat off mud banks or other grounding and for removal of weeds, rope and other matter from propellers. The Hirer is responsible for and shall indemnify the company against any claim or charge made by any Navigation Authority for damage to waterway property or loss of water. 10. Repairs and Breakdowns. The Hirer is particularly advised not to leave valuables or ready portable items in cars. The Hirer is strongly recommended to take out Personal Holiday Insurance. 12. Fuel. At the end of your holiday period the
13. Pets. You are normally allowed to bring your cat or dog with you, but you must tell us at the time of making your booking. YOU MUST BRING YOUR PET BLANKET OR BASKET WITH YOU AS PETS ARE ONLY ALLOWED ON THE CLEAR UNDERSTANDING THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY THEY LIE ON THE BEDDING OR CHAIRS. Your pet must not be left unattended on the boat. Pets are not covered under the company’s insurance policy and the Hirer is liable for any costs incurred by extra cleaning and any delays incurred as a cause. Registered Assistance Dogs will be accepted free of charge although all conditions apply.

IF THE HIRER’S PARTY INCLUDES ANY INFIRM PERSONS, THE HIRER MUST MAKE RELEVANT ENQUIRIES AT TIME OF BOOKING. Damage Waiver (compulsory) The Damage Waiver Fee is £50.00. In the event of the above, the Hirer will be liable for all additional costs incurred above and beyond the Damage Waiver payment. Cancellation Protection Scheme A contract exists once a deposit has been paid and a booking has been confirmed, and you are liable for the whole cost of the holiday even if you are unable to take your holiday. Anglo Welsh Ltd. has created a Cancellation Protection Scheme (CPS) to offer you protection against this liability in certain circumstances. The CPS is calculated at £25 per short break holiday, and £40 per one week holiday, and multiples thereof. Where any of the qualifying circumstances are met, all hire monies will be repaid in full less the CPS contribution fee and the Hirer will be absolved from any balancing hire payment. The decision of Anglo Welsh Ltd. is final. CPS only covers complete cancellation prior to the start of the holiday. It does not give a pro rata refund if one or more persons are unable to take the holiday. Cover is only provided for those persons named on the booking form. Any claim must be supported by documentary evidence. Any claim must be made at the earliest opportunity by telephone and backed up in written form via Recorded Delivery Mail. Qualifying circumstances include: - Death, injury, illness, pregnancy complications or confinement immediately prior to holiday commencement (certified in all cases by a qualified registered Medical Practitioner in writing) The above circumstances would also apply to a near relative (husband, wife, father, mother, parent-in-law, sister, brother, child) or a close business associate. Jury Witness service in a court of law. Fire, storm, flood, subsidence or malicious damage making the Hirer’s home uninhabitable Police requiring the Hirer’s presence following burglary at home or place of business. You’ll need to pay the balance of your invoice eight weeks before your holiday starts. You can either pay by cheque or credit/debit card. If you would like to pay by cheque, please make cheques payable to ‘Anglo Welsh Waterway Holidays’. We will show the damage waiver (£50) on your invoice, which will be due for payment with your balance. Please note the damage waiver is non-refundable.
2015 sees the introduction of a limited number of WiFi hubs aboard selected boats in our fleet.
