THIS ISSUE CELEBRATES our coastal communities in contrast with our desert oasis of La Quinta. While each varies in topography, they echo the striking features about SoCal — it’s a region like none other. We can enjoy the beach by day and make it to the desert by dinner. It’s not easy to define the Southland – each district is unique, and we have so many of them. A 5-mile drive can unearth a differing culture and vibe, and each holds intricacies that are both special and distinctive. There is so much to experience in our vast corner of the world and sometimes we natives get stuck in the rut of the familiar. My hope is that our magazine inspires tourists and locals alike to discover new towns, try new restaurants, or embark on a staycation by visiting local hotels. It's quite refreshing to visit a nearby hotel, kick back and relax. This is especially valuable to those who may want to vacation but can’t get away for long. A quick two-to- three-day escape can do wonders for a tired body and soul. And for those who are not quite ready to travel, given the recent COVID concerns, a short, local escape may help ignite that latent wanderlust again. We suggest some of our favorites in this issue, but there are thousands more to uncover. We hope you enjoy our Spring issue and that the content encourages you to explore the wonders of our Southern California community. Warmly,
