XANDER AND THE PEACE PIRATES
Combining inspired songwriting and mesmerizing performances, Xander and the Peace Pirates were discovered on YouTube by Gibson Brands CEO Henry Juszkiewicz. Their meteoric rise has evendazzled industry legend Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin), who offered to produce the band’s first album. Amazingly, front man Keith Xander has no right hand: he plays guitar with a prosthetic ‘hook’ adapted to hold a plectrum.Today, his recognition as a world-class guitarist is an inspiration to everyone who faces seemingly insurmountable challenges. To commemorate their 120th anniversary, Gibson is supporting Peace One Day, bringing two extraordinary, first-of-their-kind art exhibitions to the Middle East! The exhibitions encapsulate a new take on musical art with the exclusive ‘two day only’ Gibson Through the Lens” - a globally touring photographic exhibition showcasing Gibson’s history and associated artists over the last few decades. Additionally, Guitar Art takes 18 Gibson guitars redesigned by some of UAE’s most well-known artists along with one 120th anniversary Les Paul signed by Lenny Kravitz, all especially for Peace One Day that will
be auctioned off in October with proceeds going to Charity. On October 22nd we will be having a silent auction to gauge interest and then finish with a public bidding format to give interested parties a final chance to get the piece they want most! The Silent Auction will begin at 4:00pm after which the auctioneer will open up the pieces to a last chance bidding session. (Registration is mandatory for budding on the art pieces and can be done upon arrival to the Hard Rock Café Dubai Festival City)
CURATOR MO ABEDIN
Mo Abedin is an Emirati born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1987. Since he was little, he had been greatly impacted by the Far East and developed a great appreciation for Asia’s colourful history and culture leading to a growing curiosity in the creative arts. It wasn’t until he came across urban artists and the urban art culture that encouraged him to explore and venture beyond comic art. Subsequently, he developed a growing desire to learn and understand how to create art through different mediums of expression. Mo believes that by becoming a designer it allowed him to achieve his goals by enabling him to express himself freely and through several platforms and
mediums while still remaining true to his background in urban and comic arts. Mo has recently curated ‘Art Wars Dubai’ for Andrew Ainsworth and MEFCC and featured internationally acclaimed artist Damien Hirst’s work in the show.
LENNY KRAVITZ SIGNED LES PAUL
Lenny Kravitz was born on May 26, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. His first album, Let Love Rule, was released in 1989. In 1998, his album Five won him his first Grammy Award. In 2004, his album Baptism expressed his renewed enthusiasm for making music. Baptism was followed by the albums It is Time for a Love Revolution (2008) and Black and White America (2011). In 2009, Kravitz made his screen debut in the film Precious. Lenny has signed a Les Paul to be auctioned in support of Peace One Day.

Mohammed Hindash is an award winning Jordanian artist from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Inspired by advertisements and photography, he mainly works with ink and acrylic paint. Winning the Sheikha Manal YAA for Fine Arts, his work has been part of Sikka Art Fair, Art Dubai, and projects for The Cultural Office. Aiming for aesthetics and the idea of perfection within his work, perceiving art as the power of beauty and what the eye can behold.
JALAL LUQMAN
alal Luqman, Mixed Media Artist from the UAE, is a pioneering artist for more than 2 decades. Luqman introduced Digital Art to the UAE in 1996, and swiftly moved to becoming a mixed media artist utilizing his understanding of traditional media along with digital paints. Luqman’s work is limitless in both meaning and material, transforming metals, wood and other common materials into pieces of art that transcend the limits of the frame to reach out and provoke the viewer. Luqman has managed to become a significant name in the Emirati art scene as well as internationally, holding international exhibitions in New York, Kuwait, Tokyo, Egypt, Morocco, the Czech Republic, Washington DC, Beijing and the UK.
Jalal Luqman’s unflinching approach has landed him many firsts in his career; First Emirati Digital Artist, First Freelance Graphic Designer, the first contracted Emirati website designer. Today Jalal Luqman’s contribution to the Emirati art scene has expanded from only producing artworks to being an advocate for the progression of Emirati artists as well as his individual initiatives to promote art in the UAE. He has conducted many seminars and workshops in schools, colleges and universities nationally and internationally, as well as being a public speaker for the promotion of art in the UAE and a member of UAE delegations to many international art events.
MATTHEW RYDER
Matt is a British fine artist and illustrator living and creating in Dubai, UAE. A life long painter, Inspired by the natural world, the changing planet and the beauty of wildlife. Exploring themes such as the massive decline of African beasts and the human impact on our world, his work has been exhibited across the region and is pushing the boundaries of what is seen as traditional wildlife painting. Matt recently had his first solo exhibition and in addition has had his work exhibited around the UAE in several group shows. His illustration work has been published in newspapers, books and magazines all over the world.
He has recently finished working on several children’s book covers and a large series of paintings for a major hotel group in the UAE. Matt uses a variety of mediums to visualize his work including Acrylic, Watercolour, pen and ink and digital.
KRISTY ANNE LIGONES
Kristy Anne Ligones, who goes by the artist name KDLIG (Kay-dee-league) is a Filipino illustrator, residing here in Dubai. Dividing time, working as an illustrator for an Ad agency, and on the side working on some of her personal stuff, that expresses more of her artistic side. Her works are mostly categorize as Pop Surrealism, inspired by Urban, Graffiti and Low-Brow art. Although she’s mostly known for her digital artworks, she also does traditional art from time to time, and is also into customizing DIY vinyl toys and other stuff that needs her expertise on customization. Before coming here in Dubai, she’s been joining art exhibitions in the Philippines, and other parts of the world, and ever since she started working here in

ELLA ORENCILLO-ORDONEZ
She likes her coffee dark. Enjoys eating Thai food and just like any other girl, dreams of eating every food that she want without getting fat. She thinks zip lock is the best invention the mankind has ever made, well next to chocolates. Some of her prominent works includes a customised original Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet by Mr. Andrew Ainsworth for “Art Wars” curated by Mo Abedin of Foo-Dog, commissioned “The City is Your Canvas” by Dubai Culture and the “Olympic Mural” for the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi commissioned by The Domino.
JAY ROZEL ENDIAFE
Jay Rozel Endiafe (born on October 09, 1985) a Filipino Senior Graphic Designer, illustrator and visual artist. He got involved with art in 1995, when he started helping his father in some illustration projects, mascot design and t-shirt printing. In 2005, He graduated from PWU Taft Manila with a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising. At an early age Jay Rozel worked as a Graphic Designer & Illustrator in Dubai. His major inspiration is Dali. He is not the type of an artist who is interested in the relationship of color and form only. He is more into expressing basic human emotions; love, ecstasy, wrath, sadness & etc. Jay Rozel is a modern surrealist artist!
JOSEPH LUCAS ENDIAFE
Born on December 24, 1992, a Filipino Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Visual Artist, Painter and Musician. Since 2000, he got involved in art, when he joined a drawing competition in his province. In 2014, he graduated in UST Espana Manila with a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Design major in Painting. His major Inspiration is William-Adolpho Bouguereau and Vladimir Volegov. They portray there artworks as aesthetic or beauty. Joseph Endiafe is a modern classical artist.
WILLIAM NAVARRO
Originally from El Salvador, Central America. With a taste for whatever the world has to offer, his curiosity has given him the opportunity to travel and see life from other perspectives. A Designer by profession but considers himself a student of life, always willing to learn and try something new. Designer, 3D enthusiast, amateur photographer, all around the curious sort. Visually, it starts with an idea, however vague, and he loves to see it reflected through posters, logos, books, web pages among a thousand things that could be created.
GERMAN FERNANDEZ
Born in Lima, Peru in 1979. Studied on the Faculty of Art of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, obtaining his BFA as graphic designer in 2003. Since then he has worked in the field of information graphics as well as editorial illustration in the publishing sector, in a wide range of newspapers and magazines. He has shown his works in group exhibitions in Peru and Dubai, where he has a solo shown at FN Design gallery in 2013. His work is not restrained to one medium, but sparked to a range of techniques such as watercolor, collage, acrylic and digital media. Lives and works in Dubai.
MELVIN MIRANDA
Melvin Miranda is an Architect by profession and a Dubai-based artist, originally from the Philippines. A toy customizer/designer, graphic shirt designer, he is in to painting, sculpting and as well tattooing. He started early with the arts, took up architecture in college just to please his parents. While working in Dubai, he met Mo Abedin and been part of Mo’s roster of artists for 3 consecutive years. Currently he is planning to have a studio of his own to showcase his entire
ALDRIN CHAVEZ MANINGAS
A Filipino graphic designer, he studied in the Technological University of the Philippines and moved to Dubai in 2008. Since then he has participated in various design exhibitions and is currently working as a graphic designer in an advertising agency in Dubai. He listens to “The Killers� album everyday and aside from designing he also enjoys drifting his RC cars with friends and scrolling thru his Facebook newsfeeds.
BASTIENE DEDEL
Bastiene is an accomplished tattoo artist with over 8 years of credible experience in skin art. With a passion that matches his zeal and love for this hobby, he has come a long way. Having been involved in numerous creative stints, it would be politically correct to term Bastiene as a very talented individual. This is even more evident in his professional choice of career. A true blue-blooded artist, Bas works as a graphic designer in a reputed advertising agency in Dubai Media City. However, what he enjoys most, is the time he devotes to skin art. As put by him, “the constant buzzing of the machine and the needles leaving colors on each line that marks the skin is a nostalgic feeling that can be matched by none.�
Bastiene also takes pride in this most loved hobby, constantly discovering new ideas and techniques to perfect his art.
DINA BUTTI
Dina Butti is an Egyptian/Canadian artist, writer and TV personality whose imagination is her playground. Her world is a mature cartoon where the innocence of childhood and our darker natures meet. Nowhere is this clearer than with her favorite characters, sheep, which Dina paints with an infatuation for their symbolic allusions to the masses. Dina’s work may seem playful at first, but there’s always a twist of shadow alongside an underlying message of empathy.
FLORDELIZA PESIGAN
Multi-disciplined and self-taught, Flordeliza grew up in the National Museum of the Philippines, where her parents worked, as her playground and being surrounded with masters’ works at a very young age has strengthened her foundations as an artist. Her works span from lifelike to abstract paintings, sculpture, fashion design, body art, customisations, live performances and collaborations. Her works tell the story of her journey, exhibit her numerous passions and explore human consciousness. Shown in over 20 exhibitions and events, her works have also been featured in various publications, radio and television, and are owned by private and public collectors internationally. She now lives and creates between Dubai and Bali.
JADE URMENITA
Jade Urmenita is a Filipino airbrush extraordinaire that is currently working at an auto art customizing company and transfers his delicate and intricate airbrushed art and paintings on to cars, bikes, helmets and wall murals. He takes great pride in his paintings because it is one of his biggest passion that comes second only to his family. He has worked on several customizations events notably ‘Project: MEGA’ in collaboration with 125 artists and ‘Artwars Dubai’ in collaboration with MEFCC and Andrew Ainsworth.
STEFAN KK MESSAM
From Aotearoa New Zealand, Stefan KK Messam has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He gained a Masters Degree in Design, majoring in Illustration and Visual Narrative. He currently teaches Illustration and Design at the College of Arts & Creative Enterprises at Zayed University in Dubai, UAE. His work looks to explore conventions of identity and the range of codes and symbols we construct to remind ourselves of identity, experiences, memories, day to day routines, passions and secrets.
