Phil Elliott
Paul established Cracknell’s first office in London back in 1987. Under his leadership, Cracknell’s expanded its presence and has established offices across the world - with a strong reputation in the Middle East. With such a wealth of experience accumulated over three decades, Paul remains actively involved in the design process across the entire practice.
David, Group Managing Director, brings 30 years’ commercial, contractual and project management experience to our business. As Group Managing Director, he has a key role in our business development and commercial strategies as well as a leading role in client liaison and contract management.
With over 36 years’ experience in developing and operating companies in Europe, Middle East and the USA, Phil brings a breadth of knowledge to his role as Group Finance and Operations Director. Phil’s expertise and leadership provides bold strategies for our sustainable growth and development in the global market.

Robert has 27 years’ experience in Asia and the Middle East in the design and management of large scale landscape, urban design and master planning projects. As Group Design Director, Robert’s role is in leading and inspiring our design strategies for projects with a primary focus in Asia, India and the Middle East.
Fady, Group Design Director and registered architect, has a strong background in strategic master planning and urban planning of large mixed-use projects. With over 22 years’ international experience in both design and management, Fady has unparalleled project experience throughout the MENA region and is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
Rajan has over 34 years’ practical experience in irrigation and soft landscape works, which includes 30 years in the Gulf. Rajan manages the technical resources for our design teams and our site supervision teams, providing and guiding us with expertise in irrigation, drainage, structures, buildability and contract administration.

JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL Dubai, UAE
Opened in 1999, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel was the first world-class beach resort in Dubai, and still sets the standard as the region’s premier resort. Cracknell also designed the adjacent Wild Wadi water park and the 7-star Burj Al Arab landscape as part of this iconic complex, putting Dubai firmly on the map as a luxury holiday destination.

LUXURY TOWERS AND HOTEL Dubai, UAE
This luxury development is set to be the premier world-class hotel and serviced apartment complex in the Downtown Dubai area. Cracknell have created a generous and dramatic pool and dining environment including lap pools and family pools, dining terraces and destination lounge bars.
PALM HOTEL Muscat, Oman
Cracknell developed as visually powerful landscape for this large Mall and Hotel complex located close to the Muscat International Airport. The scheme included extensive buffer landscapes to create a unique setting for the mall, interior atrium landscapes within the mall and the design of the 4-star hotel facilities, resort pool deck and guest arrival zones.

SALAM RESORT Yeti, Oman
Cracknell developed the landscape masterplan for this ambitious multidestination resort and residential community for Sama Dubai. The work included integrated golf and residential communities, waterfront and harbor resort zones and mountain-side communities in a unique Omani setting.
FORT HOTEL Muscat, Oman
Designed for OMRAN, this dramatic cliff-edge resort will provide a unique and authentic Omani holiday experience, giving guests extraordinary views within a rugged mountainside environment. The landscape has been designed to compliment the traditional architectural style, creating spaces that resonate with the local character.

HYATT HOTEL ROSTOV Rostov, Russia
Cracknell was commissioned in 2013 concept options were provided and the to undertake the horticulture and team then developed the final concept irrigation design input from concept to based upon the approved style. tender design stage for various external terraces, a 7.5m wall and an internal tree court. The project team, which included Fady Khalife, Daniel Brown and Rekha Thomas, went above and beyond the initial scope and undertook the entire landscape design concept for all the above mentioned areas. APHRODITE HILLS RESORT Cyprus
From inception to detail design and tender to construction in 2004, Cracknell worked on this resort and residential complex. The project was the training camp for the British Olympic team in 2004.

AL SEEF Dubai, UAE
Opened in November 2017 and located along Dubai’s vibrant Creek, Al Seef has become the most dramatic and authentic destination in the region. This 1km long retail and F&B development showcases the city’s history and evolution. Through intricate detail, Cracknell have used design to recreate the heart of old Dubai, as well as new Dubai.

THE BEACH AT JBR Dubai, UAE
‘The Beach’ has quickly become the most successful public realm, retail, entertainment and recreation zone in Dubai. Working with architects Benoy, Cracknell created an icon for the region – a vibrant place for water sports, entertainment, casual dining, recreation and shopping. This project has won Identity Design Award in 2016 and Arabian Property Awards for Commercial Landscape Architecture in 2015.

LA MER Dubai, UAE
Completed in October 2017 this new beach hotspot destination combines retail, F&B and recreation in a relaxed ‘sand on your feet’ environment. To create a lived-in and rustic feel, the design includes found, re-used and re-purposed materials – bringing a sustainable and practical twist to the scheme.

DUBAI MALL AT BURJ KHALIFA Dubai, UAE
Dubai Mall’s waterfront terraces, F&B courtyards and dramatic frontage established a new benchmark for the region’s public realm spaces, bringing high volume entertainment and retail together in a unique setting.

d3 has become the premier environment for design companies from fashion to architecture, and artists to media corporations. Cracknell designed a connected pedestrian public realm, linking exhibition spaces, vibrant F&B terraces and quiet courtyards.

CITY WALK II Dubai, UAE
To bring an innovative twist to this development, Cracknell explored the drama and colour of outdoor connectivity, light shows, media screens, and extraordinary plazas and event spaces. Cracknell designed active air cooling for external spaces, public art and exhibitions, water features and a connective and flexible pedestrian plaza.

Cracknell was a key member of the design team that developed the world’s first 3D-printed office, designed and constructed in record time.
SILICON PARK Dubai, UAE
Cracknell was challenged to create the most innovative and technologically advanced landscape in Dubai. The park offers a dynamic and vibrant pedestrianised public realm with innovative design, such as interactive landscape features and lighting strategies, media connected spaces using augmented reality and Bluetooth beacon connectivity.

WATERFRONT MIXED-USE COMPLEX Qatar
This extraordinary mixed-use waterfront development incorporates a hotel, serviced apartments, a convention centre, residential and retail developments and a mosque. The landscape has been key to bringing these elements together in a dramatic public realm environment. The core of the space is a 300m urban canal with a vibrant retail edge. The landscape has created a range of character zones
including a beachfront promenade, market plazas, mosque plazas and beach club pool zones.
MALTA SMART CITY Malta
The project, located on a steeply sloping site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea provides a dramatic destination that hosts a business environment, outdoor lifestyle and entertainment in an authentic and contemporary venue.

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT Dubai, UAE
Located in the heart of Downtown Dubai on the Burj Boulevard, Cracknell developed this extraordinary urban resort environment on the 12th floor podium, providing outdoor destination bars and the longest infinity pool in the region. Currently under construction, Cracknell are supervising the installation works and looking forward to the opening in 2017.

PRIVATE RESORT Seychelles
The challenge with some projects is to achieve a spectacular result while doing as little as possible to the existing environment and landscape. Working very closely with the architects, Cracknell were instrumental in adapting the buildings into the landscape to retain and protect existing trees. The outcome will be a private resort locked into a lush and mature landscape.

Designed as part of an overall masterplan incorporating hotels, a marina and urban public realm, Cracknell designed the podium and ground level landscapes to provide stunning waterfront views and resort style facilities.

Old Town has been one of the most successful urban residential districts in the region, providing an authentic feel with magical pedestrian spaces, subtle lighting effects, and gardens in harmony with the architectural scale.

VICTORY HEIGHTS Dubai, UAE
This private villa community is arranged around the 18 hole Ernie Els golf course and combines sports facilities with luxurious living. The landscape design includes a 27 kilometre network of walking, jogging and cycling trails that link a hierarchy of parks, play areas and open spaces.
ARABIAN RANCHES Dubai, UAE
One of the highest profile residential developments in Dubai, Cracknell were asked to design signature entrance statements befitting the status of the development. The design progressed from concept, through schematic and detail design within a rapid timescale to meet client requirements. Now almost a decade old, entry to Arabian Ranches continues to define the high quality residence, giving credence to a lasting design integrity.

SHORELINE AT THE PALM Dubai, UAE
Considered the world’s most unique island, this breath-taking destination offers exclusive residential housing and world-famous waterfront resorts, boutique hotels, commercial areas and marinas. Cracknell designed the landscape for the shoreline apartments, streetscape and the Al Ittihad Park.
VOLANTE Dubai, UAE
This high-end residential tower provides extraordinary panoramic views of the Dubai skyline, incorporating the ultimate infinity edge pool with 900-year-old Olive trees, a spa with outdoor relaxation rooms, and an elegant lounge bar for residents and visitors.

SHERATON PARK Qatar
This 10Ha urban park, on the Doha corniche is one of the most heavily used public spaces in the city. The park includes a well-balanced combination of open spaces, play zones and calm courtyards, with a focus on water features – part of the overall play strategy to bring a new dynamic to a family day out. This project won the International Property Award in 2016.

BURJ BOULEVARD DOWNTOWN Dubai, UAE
The dramatic 3km long Burj Boulevard – one of the most recognisable streets in the world – is the spine of the Downtown Dubai district, tying the development’s public realm spaces together. The quality of the landscape design creates a promenade feel offering an inclusive and functional public space, establishing a new benchmark for streetscape design in the region.
BURJ LAKE PROMENADE Dubai, UAE
The promenade extends around the edge of the 30Ha iconic fountain lake and links the Burj Khalifa with Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and multiple mixed-use developments.

ZABEEL PARK Dubai, UAE
Completed in 2005, Zabeel Park is a prestigious 50Ha public park in central Dubai and has become the focus of weekly markets, garden festivals, large music and entertainment events and cricket matches.

CENTRAL PARK Mumbai, India
The Central Park – in Thane, Mumbai – is key to the success of the developer’s public realm and residential strategy, providing amenities, open space, entertainment, recreation, innovation and educational opportunities. Cracknell is currently designing residential tower complexes and the streetscape.

DUBAI WATERFRONT HARBOUR RESIDENCES Dubai, UAE
Cracknell were commissioned to create a new and vibrant waterfront district located on the Dubai Waterfront with stunning views back towards the city and the Burj Khalifa. Working with the design team we developed a strong public realm strategy that integrated 3 hotels, 6 residential towers, a marina and yacht club and a significant volume of retail and F&B. When complete, this development will be at the heart of a new district that challenges Burj Downtown as the most prominent public realm space in the region.

DISTRICT PARK AND SPORTS CLUBHOUSE Dubai, UAE
Cracknell developed the architectural concept to integrate this sports complex with an extensive desert park and residential development. The clubhouse will provide private amenities for residents of this high-spec community and has been integrated into a 30Ha desert park landscape also being designed by Cracknell.

YAS ISLAND Abu Dhabi, UAE
Host to the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit, Ferrari World, Yas Marina and numerous hotels, Cracknell designed the public realm and streetscapes for this vast island complex. Completed in 2009 for the first Grand Prix, Cracknell also carried out supervision, embedding a full team on the island throughout the construction period.
WATERFRONT RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT Doha, Qatar
A luxury 3km long waterfront and residential development situated in Lusail, Qatar. A modern public realm incorporating authentic Qatari culture and heritage, supportive of aspirations for Lusail to be the first green city in Qatar. The vision creates a rippling network of spaces organised to entwine leisure, social, recreational, and cultural environments.

RESIDENTIAL AND RETAIL DEVELOPMENT Dubai, UAE
Locking in to the newly prepared masterplan, Cracknell developed a complimentary landscape for this residential and retail district. At the ground level, we created ‘sculptural’ plazas to encourage links to the adjacent Zaabeel Park (Designed by Cracknell) and connecting in to the larger masterplan. On the podiums we designed pool terraces with park view infinity edges. This project is currently under construction.

METRO PROJECTS Riyadh & Doha
Designing public realm, streetscapes, plazas and station concourses that support a range of ambitious metro projects ongoing within the Middle East. It’s all made worthwhile as the cities gain corridors of public realm, developing new spaces and landscapes.
EAST INDIA DOCK London, UK
East India Dock was one of the early Docklands developments with extensive public realm built around a series of interconnected canals that emulate the water-borne activity of the old dock. A number of bespoke sculptures were commissioned as focal points to the many piazzas and the development was partly enclosed by the original boundary wall which was incorporated into the design.

MARINA AND MIXED-USE COMPLEX Bahrain
We’ve designed landscape for the new addition to Bahrain’s waterfront, opening in 2018. This mixed-use project is a balance between a casual, public atmosphere, and a luxurious and private setting for the Yacht Club and villas.

WATERFRONT MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT Dubai, UAE
This ambitious waterfront development will offer a rich blend of Middle Eastern history and ancient Dubai’s heritage. The design looks to the core values of traditional Arabic culture, family, trade and entertainment; as well as art and fashion as primary influences in creating a vibrant urban destination with a distinct sense of place and sophisticated ambiance.
BUSINESS BAY WATERFRONT AND PARKS Dubai, UAE
As part of the overall strategy to achieve extensive connected waterfront development, we are developing over 10km of public promenades and pocket parks. This will create one of the most cohesive and well connected public realms in the region, linking residential, commercial and retail spaces to open space and parks.

MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC ART Doha, Qatar
Cracknell worked with renowned architect I.M.Pei on this distinctive museum, providing dramatic public realm and waterfront space to compliment the architecture.

DUBAI CONVENTION CENTRE Dubai, UAE
Developed as the venue for the World Trade Organisation’s annual conference, the landscape design was inspired by the UAE’s rich desert heritage. Notable features include the ‘sand devil’ feature, the wavy sculptural dunes and a dynamic pavement fountain.
DUBAI INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL CENTRE Dubai, UAE
DIFC is one of Dubai’s most recognisable developments, with the Gate building as its focus. A contemporary landscape that sets a tone of civic grandeur whilst providing a simple, calm and relaxing setting at the very heart of the city.

Dubai Internet City is a state-of-the-art business park arranged around a large central lake with cascade walls, islands linked by timber bridges, a waterside amphitheatre, formal piazzas with water features and extensive gardens.

Client: Knowledge Economic City – Madinah KSA Size: 60 Ha Scope: Full masterplan and Detailed Landscape design to completion 60Ha High quality integrated residential community within Knowledge Economic City Masterplan site of 864Ha.
The design offered a new living experience for the region, establishing the benchmark offering for KEC. Strong sense of place and relationship with Madinah, its history and adjacent landscape. Cracknell also completed the detailed Landscape design and supervision for the scheme.
