Design

Categorized as Progressive Young Contemporary, Anna Hovet garments give the wearer a feeling of confidence and individuality. Our purpose: to solidify the sense of beauty and self-expression with a fusion of designer style and streetwear comfort.

Fascinated with the way culture impacts fashion, Hovet experiments with different social trends, sensibly mixing them together in unconventional ways. Her clever convertible designs are driven by customer trends, historic silhouettes, and the power of the female from. Anna Hovet embodies creative energy and freshness, sparking excitement and enthusiasm from a younger audience. She seamlessly blends her cutting-edge concepts with sheer sophistication and nuanced details – appealing to a more mature customer base.

Production Known as the “Queen of Comfort”, designer Anna Hovet uses patternmaking as a systematic way to transform conceptual ideas into material form, creating distinctive silhouettes and keeping her prices reasonable by using few trims and minimal sewing requirements. In their most exaggerated form, her designs are art on the body. Then, she manipulates her original pieces into accessible, ready-to-wear garments, while always maintaining her artistic integrity. Hovet ensures high quality and local responsibility by manufacturing all her designs in Chicago.

Mission Statement

Press/Growth Anna Hovet has gained notable recognition in Chicago, and has been seen on NBC "1st Look", on actress/singer Jennifer Hudson, and in several publications including Lucky Magazine and the Chicago Tribune. The company recently launch menswear line, HOVET, which is proving to be very successful.

The Anna Hovet Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection is inspired by Tokyo couture designers and Native American totem pole patterns. The sophisticated color pallette resignates a refined sensibility while the silhouettes retain the egdy vibe the line is known for. Hovet introduces suede and lazer-cut vinyl as decorative piecing, which add texture and luxury to the comfortable pieces.

Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection

The collection features Hovet’s signature wearable sweatshirts with beautiful draping and color-blocking. She uses the lazer-cut vinyl as inserts in chic dresses and leggings. Hovet also collaborated with Chicago knitwear designer, Nicole Meehling, to create hand-knit accessories to accompany the line.

Anna Hovet Spring/Summer 2013 is inspired by 1990’s Americana fashion. Using a primary color palette, Hovet empasizes the female silhouette with strategically placed seaming and gathering. For the first time, she introduces 100% Cotton Terry Sweater, which drapes beautifully and adds a new texture to the line.

The Anna Hovet Spring/Summer 2013 Collection features sporty items including color-blocked sweatpants and sweatshirts alongside more feminine garments such as flirty jersey dresses and sweaters. This collection resignates ease and freedom. It includes peices that every woman can feel great it. The wearer can enjoy the summer fun in the comfort of quality knitwear.

Menswear

Fall 2012 Anna Hovet Designs launched HĂ˜VET, a highly anticipated menswear line featuring hooded sweatshirts with Hovet’s signature draping and color-blocking. The line has been very well received and will be expanded to full collections in the future.

In May 2009 Anna was selected as a Designer in Residence at the Chicago Fashion Incubator (CFI). The CFI at Macy’s on State Street is part of the Mayor’s Fashion Initiative and provides six emerging Chicago-based designers with the resources, including workspace, curriculum and mentoring, to launch their careers in fashion.

BACKGROUND Anna Hovet, was born and raised in Grand Forks, ND and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA 2007). During college Anna worked as a stylist and fashion show coordinator at Chicago’s well-known store AKIRA, where at the age of 20 she was coordinating fashion shows for over 2000 attendees. After graduating, she was hired by Kids Headquarters where she designed layette for licensed brands Ecko, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and Target. Due to the economy, Anna was laid of from her job and started her own company in 2009. Within a year of launching Anna Hovet Designs, Anna was selected as a Designer in Residence at the Chicago Fashion Incubator - A City of Chicago sponsored program to help fashion designers start a business. IIn 2011, she was a contestant on the Kenmore Reality Web Series "So You Wanna Be A Designer". Anna Hovet has built Anna Hovet Designs into a full-scale design/retail/wholesale company selling her garments to customers all over the U.S.

About Anna

SPECIAL SKILLS Anna has a well-rounded sense of the industry with experience designing, art directing, coordinating fashion shows, styling, buying, and selling. She is a freelance fashion illustrator and teaches fashion illustration at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With a natural talent for social media brand-building, she has a large online following and is often selected as a social media influencer for several major corporations.

COMMUNITY An activist against domestic violence, Anna uses garments to raise public awareness about this important social issue. Her senior collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago was inspired by victims of and artwork addressing domestic violence. Anna has extended this collection into ready-to-wear with her “Speak Out Hoodie” and continues to organize events supporting domestic violence awareness. A portion of the proceeds from the hoodies and sales at events go to the Chicago Foundation for Women and other domestic violence advocacy programs. She also coordinates an annual clothing drive, Reduce Reuse Restyle, involving several Chicago businesses.
