The Ann Korologos Gallery presents Veritas: New Realism, an exhibition of new works by artists Sarah Lamb and Brett Scheifflee, opening with an artists’ reception on Friday, July 8 from 5-7 pm. Veritas is Latin for truth, and what can be truer than an artist’s meticulous transcription? “With keen eyes and a trained brush, a great artist is able not only to capture the scene in photographic specificity, but suggest a narrative by the careful choices he or she makes in lighting, objects, even textures,” explained gallery owner Ann Korologos. “We are so pleased to be able to present the works of two such talents, Sarah Lamb and Brett Scheifflee who are among today’s leading artists in New Realism.” Sarah Lamb has been captivated by painting since childhood when she when dipped her pigtails in pigment. She has studied with two masters of classical realism: Jacob Collins at his atelier in New York City and Ted Jacobs at the Ecole Albert Defois in the Loire Valley. Now in her third decade as an artist, Sarah’s work has achieved national acclaim and a dedicated following. She remains enchanted by the beauty found in natural objects, whether food in her kitchen and garden or the bounty from her husband’s game hunting. Collectors of her still lifes praise the highly reflective surfaces, the juxtaposition of textures and her sensual presentations.

“WITH KEEN EYES AND A TRAINED BRUSH, A GREAT ARTIST IS ABLE TO CAPTURE THE SCENE IN PHOTOGRAPHIC SPECIFICITY.” — Ann Korologos

Brett Scheifflee also realized his passion for drawing in childhood. Born in Buffalo, NY, Brett pursued his talent for illustration, earning his BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. There he studied with several outstanding professors who informed his detective-like eye and his precise interpretation of the landscape. Brett’s admiration for Vermeer’s interiors and Frederic Church’s sweeping vistas are palpable in his recent works. Since graduation, Brett has traveled the US, spending a few years in Colorado and South Carolina. He now resides in Charleston, SC. In 2014, Brett’s work received national attention when Southwest Art Magazine included him in the annual “21 Under 31: Young Artists to Watch.”
