This museum was built because Francis 1 had a wonderful art collection and needed somewhere to put his art but over the years they just kept adding on to it. It makes it famous because of all the old wonderful art, it is also the biggest art museum in the world home to the Mona Lisa.
Francis 1, started building this wonderful museum when he was collecting art in 1546. It is located in Paris France. This wonderful art museum took almost 700 years to convert it in to what it is today.
