The earliest record of a fortified castle at Fontainebleau dates to 1137. Philibert de l'Orme,, Jean Bullant, Sebastiano Serlio, Gilles Le Breton built the chateau. Fontainebleau is located 55 kilometres (34 miles) southeast of the centre of Paris, and is one of the largest French royal châteaux.

However, in 1972, someone suggested to rebuild the station and change it into a museum. This suggestion was approved by president Pompidou. The George-Pompidou art center was built because president george pompidou decided that there should be a cultural center built on the vacant space of plateau beaubourg. Notre Dame de Paris Notre Dame de Paris was beginning to be built in 1163. The cathedral’s exterior was finished in 1183 ( 20 years ). Notre Dame’s interior was finished in 1200 ( 17 years ). Versailles was first built as a hunting lodge by Louis XIII in 1623. It was transformed by Louis XIV into the royal palace that we know today. The Château de Versailles sits in the Ile-de-France region in the city of Versailles. The palace was finished in 1710. This palace housed the French royalty until after the French revolution in 1789.
