Centre George-Pompidou

The George-Pompidou art center was built because president george pompidou decided that there should be a cultural center built on the vacant space of plateau beaubourg. Inaugurated on 31 January 1977, the design has many pipets on the outside of the building so it has been criticized as an oil refinery. Today the architecture has become widely accepted as an influential exhibit as well as a modernist artifact. Located in country where so many great art revolutions initiated, the center is an appeal to tourists worldwide. The incredible facade and the strong influence it has on the modernist and contemporary art world makes it one of the must-go places in Paris.
