Learn to safely slide down the slopes, ride the lifts and enjoy the world’s fastest growing winter activities. Depending on the weather and slope conditions, instruction will be conducted locally at Burgbernheim, between Ansbach and Illesheim. Learn the basics on a gentle slope and learn how to ride the lifts. All sessions will depart from Katterbach at 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. alpine touring

As an alternative to standing in lift lines at some of the resorts we’ll be visiting this season, take a pair of our state-of-the-art Alpine Touring Skis with climbing skins and make your own way up the mountain. Not only do you save the price of a lift pass, you’ll get a fantastic cardiovascular work-out amidst some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. Once atop the mountain, remove your climbing skins, put them in your backpack, lock down your bindings in alpine ski mode, and ski down enjoying every turn you’ve just earned. cross country skiing New to Outdoor Recreation’s inventory and a great way to enjoy the winter environment and beautiful scenery while getting a good cardiovascular workout. Zell am See/Kaprun, Austria

A family-friendly Thanksgiving ski/snowboard trip to Kaprun/Zell am See, Austria. Trip includes three overnights with dinners and breakfasts, including a special Thanksgiving dinner. Ski/Snowboard lessons are available upon advanced request, by certified PSIA and AASI instructors. Lift passes not included. Departs Katterbach at 9 a.m. Thursday and returns approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.

4-Day Ski/Snowboard Trip • January 16-19 Corvara, Italy

$369 adults, $189 children

Enjoy some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Italian Dolomites. Friday will be a travel day, and after checking into our hotel we’ll enjoy some famous Italian cuisine. On Saturday and Sunday, there are plenty of options to consider including the famous ‘Sella Ronda” a series of lifts that circles the “Sella” group of mountains. Trip includes three overnights in an Italian guesthouse with breakfast. As with all our trips, ski/snowboard lessons available upon advanced request by certified PSIA and AASI instructors. Lift passes not included. Departs Katterbach at 9 a.m. on Friday and returns approximately 6 p.m. Monday.

4-Day Ski/Snowboard Trip • February 13-16 St. Moritz, Switzerland

$369 adults, $189 children

Check another premier ski/snowboard resort off your bucket list. Corviglia, Corvatch and Diavolezza are synonymous for awe-inspiring experiences on skis and snowboards. You’ll find almost everything in Switzerland’s largest snow sport region from extensive, well known areas with a wide range of terrain to smaller, family-friendly village ski lifts. Trip includes three overnights in a double occupancy room with breakfasts. Ski/Snowboard lessons are available upon request by certified PSIA and AASI Instructors. Lift passes not included. Departs Katterbach at 9 a.m. on Friday, returns approximately 6 p.m. Monday.

3 Glaciers Austria

Close out the winter season by participating in this ski/ snowboard weekend trip to three of the Austrian glaciers that have the best snow conditions: Hintertux, Stubaital, Sölden or Pitztal. We will depart on Friday to spend the night in Haiming, Austria conveniently located in the foothills of the Austrian Alps. We will ski/snowboard a different glacier each day and on Monday after skiing/ riding, depart for Ansbach. Trip includes three overnights in an Austrian guesthouse with breakfast. Lift passes not included. Departs Katterbach at 10 a.m. on Friday and returns approximately 10 p.m. Monday.

Skills covered may include equipment familiarization, sliding, edging and pressure control movements, rotary movements, balance, turning and stopping. More experienced? Our weekly Stammtisch is designed as a way for our local Anglers to gather together and share ideas on different events and outings; swap tall fishing tales; and to just have an opportunity to enjoy one another’s company. Wednesdays at the Pavilion on Soldiers Lake.

Are you a hunter and want the current news on upcoming hunts and changes in German Law? Join us for our monthly Stammtisch to learn about the latest laws, upcoming hunts and outings and you can be a direct part of the planning process.

Hunting Course • January 15 - March 21 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays & Thursdays 9-5 p.m. Saturdays $180, additional costs for shooting range, ammunition

Think it’s too difficult to hunt while stationed in Germany? Take the Outdoor Recreation Hunting Course and see how easy it is. This 60-hour course offered to US citizens 18 years and older teaches land management, game disease and harvest plans. Earn the right to hunt and own firearms. An additional fee is charged for the shooting range and ammunition. Additional Saturday training is required. Must be a Hunting, Fishing and Sport Shooting Club member ($15 year or $45 lifetime) to participate. Class meets at Katterbach Outdoor Recreation.

Ulm Shooting Cinema and Hunting & Fishing Fair $25 (for transportation) January 10, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Join us on our annual outing to one of Europe’s premier indoor shooting cinemas and an absolutely amazing hunting and fishing expo.

Spring Fishing Course • $65/person, $100/family March 27-29

You must have a license to legally fish in Germany, to include our local fishing events. Take this 3-day Outdoor Recreation Fishing Course and be ready to fish next season. This course is offered to all ID cardholders 14 years and older. Must be a Hunting, Fishing, Sport Shooting Club member ($15) to participate. Class meets at Katterbach Outdoor Recreation.

Guided and Unguided Hunts

Try your luck in one of our local hunting areas or something a bit more exotic like Czech Republic, Poland, France, Austria or Africa! These can be arranged through our HFSS Coordinator upon request.

Sport Shooting

Opportunities are available for Skeet and Trap, 100 Meter Rifle, Running Boar, Pistol Range and Archery.
