In the midst of the wild, romantic Black Forest landscape, sits the lively little town of Triberg. Sunset Paddling Club: Paddle • Share • Learn Every Wednesday • June 3 – August 29 $25 Adults, $15 Children, $59 Family

Join us for a sunset paddle from the mouth of the Altmuhlsee to Ornbau (approx 1.5 hrs). After paddling stop for dinner at an imbiss along the river. Our Frequent Paddling Club Card entitles you to every third Sunset Paddling Club trip free. Trip departs Katterbach at 5:30 p.m., other pick-ups available upon request. Inline Skating: $9 Every Wednesday • June 3 – August 29

Inline skating every Wednesday in conjunction with our Sunset Paddling Club. The trail from Altmuhlsee to Ornbau is perfect for inline skating (approx 4k). We’ll meet for dinner at an imbiss along the river. Trip departs Katterbch ODR at 5:30 p.m., other pick-ups available upon request. Includes transportation and equipment.

Weekly Bicycle Rides: $5 if need to use an ODR bike Every Thursday (May – September)

Join us every Thursday after work for a bike ride that lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Share your trails with other fellow riders, meet new friends and learn the surrounding areas. Ride departs Katterbach ODR at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required no later than COB on Wednesday.

PT Special $5: “One mile, no sweat. Mountain Bike, better yet!” Tired of the same old P.T. drills in the morning with your unit? Let ODR add a little variety with our fleet of Cannondale Full Suspension Mountain Bikes. With advance notice, we’ll open up the shop at o’dark hundred and issue bikes and helmets to Soldiers for an alternative morning work-out. Storck Barracks delivery is also available with advance notice.

With spring in the air, Ansbach Outdoor Recreation and the League of American Bicyclists are promoting May as National Bike Month. Help us reduce our carbon footprint by participating in this event. Tips for safer riding: • Have your bike checked • Always wear a helmet • Ride in the right-most lane that goes in the direction of your travel • Obey all stop signs, traffic lights and lane markings • Look before you change lanes or signal a turn: indicate your intention THEN act • Be visible and predictable at all times; wear bright clothing and signal turns

Paintball

The Paintball Field located at Urlas directly across the street from the Exchange mall is open every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Participants must be ID card holders and 16 years of age or older; LN guests must be 18 years or older. All equipment and paint is available on site. We can also accommodate the special events and parties for your group, prior reservation is required.

Along the banks of the Elbe River, embark on a 3 hour hike around the beautiful and famous Saxon Switzerland National Park and the magnificent rock formation and Bastei Bridge. Join an easy going hop-on and hop-off bus tour or enjoy shopping and dining in this modern and lively city. Visit some of the most beautiful tourist attractions Italy has to offer. On Friday we will travel to Camp Darby and after setting up the camp, you can spend the rest of the day by enjoying a beautiful Mediterranean evening. On Saturday we will make a stop in Pisa, before making our way to the magical area of rustic beauty, Cinque Terre. On Sunday, we will take a short trip to Florence and upon return, spend the rest of the day enjoying the sunshine and the Mediterranean. Munich on Bikes • August 22 $79 Adult, $49 Child, $199 Family

Our 4-hour tour starts at the Marienplatz and includes the English Garden, Isar River, Peace Angel monument, the Maximilianeum (the Bavarian Parliament building), the Volksbad, Lukas Kirche and the Deutsches Museum. We’ll have lunch at Munich’s most popular beer garden before returning to the Marienplatz. Additional time for exploring will be available. Explore the beautiful coast of Croatia and the Plitvice National Park with famous waterfalls. You will have a chance to enjoy fresh seafood and the unique Balkan cuisine. Travel to St. Goar across the river from the historic Loreley and beautiful vineyards. Prominent wine fests and camping along the Rhine River. Berchtesgaden/Salzburg • October 10-12 $199 Adult, $119 Child, $399 Family Children younger than 3 are free!

We will travel to Taxenbach to our guesthouse then take advantage of a pool and spa located in nearby Zell am See. On Sunday we’ll visit the city of Salzburg and in late afternoon you’ll have an option to visit and hike Europe’s largest waterfalls. On Monday we’ll depart Taxenbach and visit Berchtesgaden where you’ll be able to explore the Eagle’s Nest, visit intriguing Salt mines or take a boat ride on the magnificent Königsee Lake. Trip departs Katterbach ODR at 9 a.m. and returns approximately 8 p.m. Sunday. Includes transportation, 2 overnights with breakfast and dinner.

Klettersteig (Via Ferrata) in Pottenstein May 17, June 21, July 19, August 16 $29 Adult, $19 Child, $65 Family

Experienced and beginner climbers will find Klettersteiging to be a safe and exciting experience. Modern Via Ferrata is a steel cable which runs along the route and is periodically fixed to the rock. Using a Via Ferrata kit the climber can secure themselves to the cable for safety–limiting any fall.

Adventure Weekend in Garmisch • May 22-25 $139 Adult, $89 Child, $289 Family

A weekend packed with adventure activities: white water kayaking, flat water kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing. Progressive white water kayak lessons and Class I-III river trips available. White Water Rafting excursion can be arranged at an additional cost. Rhine River Bike and Camp Trip • May 30-31 $79 Adult, $49 Child, $199 Family

View more than 40 castles towering above the Rhine River as you pedal along the river lined with vineyards. Spend the night camping and continue on to Koblenz and the Deutsche Eck where the “Mother Mosel River meets the Father Rhine.” Known as Germany’s Corner, explore the giant Kaiser Wilhelm monument at the end of the trip. The trip departs Katterbach at 8 a.m. on Saturday and returns approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday. The price includes transportation, bikes if needed and campsite fees and equipment.

Looking for an adrenaline packed weekend? Area 47 has it all. Try rafting, a high ropes course, klettersteig or a fresh water park with high dives, slides and water cannon. Numerous hiking routes are easily accessible nearby, as well. On Saturday night, we’ll make a trip to see the mountain fires at Ehrwald for the Summer Solstice. Chose camping, or ask about the rooms option. BOSS Soldiers Price ($199) includes: water park entrance, high ropes course, rafting, lodging and transportation. Non-BOSS price ($225) includes: white water rafting, lodging and transportation.

Chiemsee Camp and Paddle Trip • June 27-28 $79 Adult, $49 Child, $199 Family

From the southern shore of lake Chiemsee, paddle to Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee islands, stopping for lunch, then on to the North side of the lake to the campground. Set up camp lakeside, then the next morning you’ll hone your skills on the easy moving water of the river Alz flowing out of the Lake. The trip departs at 8 a.m. on Saturday and returns approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday. The cost includes transportation, camping and paddling equipment and campsite fees.

Two Rivers Paddling: Main & Weisent • July 18-19 $59 Adult, $39 Child, $129 Family

Saturday we paddle the Main River, working on the basic moving water paddling techniques and then drive to our camp near the Wiesent River. Sunday we’ll further develop our paddling skills on the Class II Wiesent River. Previous paddling experience and participation on one Sunset Paddling trip is required. ODR staff will verify participants’ paddling skills prior to the trip. Includes transportation, guide, progressive paddling lessons, camp fees, camping and paddling equipment. A wonderful way of experiencing the mountains whether it’s one day or a weekend. Zugspitze Hike includes 1 overnight and meals, so packing heavy provisions and camping gear is not necessary. Departs Katterbach at 6 a.m. Includes transportation, guide, entrance to the gorge and overnight (Zugspitze) in an Alpine hut.

Saddles, Paddles and Sleeping Bags • August 1-2 See im Flammen: Camp, Paddle and Bike Trip $49 Adult, $29 Child, $119 Family

Join ODR on a fun-filled canoeing, biking and camping trip at the nearby Frankische Seenland. We embark near the medieval town of Ornbau and paddle along the meandering Altmuhl Canal that spills into the Altmuhl Lake where we will find our campground. Take a late afternoon bike ride to the bird sanctuary and on to dinner. Later that night join the lakeside party and wait for the fireworks. On Day 2, you’ll paddle across the Kleine Brombachsee to the lunch spot. After lunch, you’ll finish the day paddling across Grosse Brombachsee, the largest Bavarian man-made lake. Trip departs Katterbach ODR at 9 a.m. and includes transportation, canoes, kayaks and related equipment, bikes, camping gear, camp site fees and guide.
