One of the first telltale clues of a fake gun underscores the old phrase, “the nose knows.” Take a sniff of the gun – if you detect a chemical or acid smell, the gun has been falsely aged. Also, look to see if all the parts are aged equally, or have the same amount of patina. An authentic gun with no replaced parts would have all parts aging and developing patination at that’s supposedly come down the same rate.
