COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE Job connection The competitive analysis has been carried out on companies specialised in job connection closely related to the design world. All companies considered are intermediaries between job seekers and enterprises looking for designer. Since they are Two Sided Market, the service they provide must take into account the two types of customers to put in communication with each other. The research enlights an heterogeneous landscape. The case studies show how the medium enterprise can take on a mediating role of passive platform on which are posted offers and requests, or active plathform that can play an active role in matching job seekers and companies.
CASE STUDIES

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with hundreds of millions of members, and growing rapidly. Our mission is to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful. Linkedin is a social network related to work field, where you can create your own professional profile reporting relevant experiences, trainings, skills and references from colleagues, teachers and owners, like a sort of a real online curriculum. It is a worldwide net, in fact, any medium or large size company is present on the platform and almost always job offers are published on the website, as well as around the network. Notes: LinkedIn account is useful expetially if the user profile is well studied in detail. Otherwise you can only look at the available job and move in an alternative way (as by e-mail or directly from the company’s website).
Thousands of companies, along with thousands of registered professionals, make Crebs a resource particularly effective in finding a job or a talent in communication and programming. Crebs is a platform for the research and the insertion of job offers only related to professional figures, such as creatives and web developers in general. The advantage of Crebs is to have a platform very simple and quick to use, once registered it’s possible to fill the profile with all personal details, work experience and all that can serve to get more attention from companies. For companies: “The job offers will appear in our home 30 days and, at the same time, are also spread through social and partner networks.” For users: “We evaluate all ads that come to us and we select them according to our known criteria, only those we judge more interesting for its quality products, and in any case more appropriate for our users. will be shared”

Empower the creative world to make ideas happen. The leading online platform to showcase & discover creative work. The creative world updates their work in one place to broadcast it widely and efficiently. Companies explore the work and access talent on a global scale. Behance, recently acquired by Adobe, is a platform dedicated to all the fields of creativity, from photography, to web design, from graphics up to the motion graphic design. Here you can find lots of job offers especially from foreign companies. Anyone working in the creative sector and that wants to have more visibility must have a complete profile with portfolio containing best projects and the description of work experiences. Should only apply if you have a profile very carefully tended to avoid looking foolish by presenting with an empty profile.
The Talent Agency for Digital Creatives We match the best creative talent with the best creative companies.
Talent Bridge Take a 3-month spin with creative talent and see how they perform outside the interview and in your actual work environment. Your team and your talent get a chance to interact before a permanent hire is made, so you can be sure they’re the right fit long beyond right now. Quick Hire We believe finding creative talent should be fast and easy (for you). Our Quick Hire tool lets you explore the creative talent we represent and contact us to quickly find the person you need.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Dribbble began as a side project and is now a tiny, bootstrapped and profitable company helping the world’s design talent share their creations and get hired. Dribbble has become a go-to resource for discovering and connecting with designers around the globe Dribbble is a platform dedicated to the world of creativity with a very rich section of job offers, mostly from famous companies or other high-level creative. Also on this site you can sign up but unlike Behance, Dribbble on you can only enter some personal information like some skills, your e-mail and personal web site. Also on Dribbble you can not create a real profile, but you can upload the Shoots equivalent to the screenshots of their work. Personally I find it a much faster way to show their skills without having to waste time that you switch on Behance in creating each project’s own portfolio.
Creative Commission connects the music industry with a creative community of videographers, designers and photographers
Creative Commission is an online hub to bring together creative talent and the record industry. Record companies, management firms and/or artists post briefs and use these to identify creatives for their projects. For example album artwork, digital design, poster campaigns, GIF design, photographs, video production and direction, content of that nature. Creative members use the site to build a profile containing examples of their work, links and testimonials and use this to connect and appeal to the commissioning companies.
FashionJobs.com is a site specializing in the recruitment of staff in the fashion, luxury and beauty.
“His role is to link companies and candidates through two channels: ads offering of job and register your CV that are placed in a database searchable by employers. Negative figure for the candidate: Most of the companies and the companies that consult the database of CVs do not put ads.
02
BUSINESS IDEA
Business Opportunity In the competitive landscape previously analized, we identified several strategies to connect designers with companies. From a generic job recruiting platforms where “Design” is one of the ‘search’ categories, to websites dedicated to all design fields, to services that offer jobs to creative figures in very specific context, such as music. Hence the need to propose a service exclusively linked to job matching for the fashion system, where different professional creatives can enjoy working on fashion related projects. We observed that websites where sharing design projects act as a showcase for creatives, offering to users visibility and feedback, but not necessarily helping them in finding a job. This kind of showcase system could be useful to collect visual content, strictly linked to users personal profile, and can be used as information to create a dynamic matching process.

Matching engine For the matching activity it’s foundamental to analyze image contents, for this reason FMJ will collaborate Imagga, an Image Recognition Platform, which offers a set of APIs for automated image categorization and meta-data extraction, for business customers. APIs tools can be used either separately or in a combination, and they can save a lot of time and effort otherwise spent on manual curation of images. Immagga offers:
AUTO-TAGGING Auto-Tagging Solution harnesses the power of state-of-the-art technologies for image understanding in order to provide the most advanced and powerful automatic tagging through an easy to use the interface.
COLOR EXTRACTION & SEARCH The technology behind the API analyzes the pixel content of each given image in order to extract representative colors if the image.

AUTOMATED TAGGING
CUSTOM TAGS
Using Imagga’s Auto-Tagging API, relevant tags are assigned to all the images in an automated way. Images are parsed through the Auto-Tagging API, analyzed and related tags are suggested.
The system can suggest thousands of predefined tags, but the true potential of Imagga’s Auto-Tagging technology lies in its ability to be trained. It allows the customer to define tags that are specific for that particular use-case and then it learns to recognize and suggest them!
AUTOTAGGING TEST We made a test uploading an image from a project and checking the kind of tags the system provides. The generated tags are strictly related to the image content and it’s possible improve the image codification by remiving wrong tags or adding more suitable ones.

IMAGGA’S COLOR EXTRACTION & SEARCH How color extraction and search work
“ Product images
Your project has a database with a lot of product images, with eventually some meta-data about type, style, pricing, etc. Color Blindness This meta-data rarely includes any color information, or if it does it’s just about the name of the main color from a simple (<10 colors) palette. People can’t find a product by real shades or combinations of colors. Automated color extraction Using Imagga’s Color API, you can easily extract the colors of all your product images in an automated way! Your images are parsed through our Color API, we analyze them and suggest up to 5 representative colors (and their precise shades) for each product. Background removal Even if the product image has a complex background, we can ignore it and extract only the real product colors! Multi-color search Once the images have been parsed through our system, we can build and store a color search index and back-end. This allows your customers to search in your product collection via a single color or a combination of colors. “ Color extraction & search tool will be used by FITMYJOB as image information source, all the materials uploaded will be collected in a database. This allows the comparison between users inspirational photos, checking similar shapes and similar colors. Combining “autotagging” with “color extraction & search” service for image recognition, FMJ will provide well codified contents useful for a smart matching process.

We are work to provide state-of-the-art image recognition technology. It’s not just a code, all this are smart algorithms that works as a brain if you manage to teach it. Here is comes the training part where we need your support. One of the hardest task in the image recognition technology is to have enough good data so we can feed the brain. As a reward for helping us to learn from your data we can offer discount options starting from 20% of the training price. If you allow us. we will store the image samples and continue to use them solely for the purpose of improving our technology. This means that in any case we WON’T provide any of the image data to third-parties, competitors or advertisers. The percentage of the discount we can offer depends on the quality of the data you have.

Revenue Model At this point it is important to understand where we get our revenue from the startup activity. After taking into account various possibilities, we settled on the Freemium model, (free - premium) in particular the limited functionality, precisely a system that offers a free basic version of the product, and for those who want to pay a premium version propose additional features not present in the basic version. We thought to differentiate the offerings to provide benefits of premium specifically for companies and specifically for designers depending on what is most interesting respectively. We can see now in detail the difference between the two versions. BASIC version for CREATIVES: registered users in “basic account will have the ability to upload images to a limited number of 60 units, with resolution up to 500 dpi, the image size is sufficient to be viewed clearly via web. We consider the quality and quantity sufficient basis to be able to present enough projects carried out and to be able to create a moodboard of inspiration exhaustive, so as to ensure a good chance of matching. The limited number of picture is related to the fact that Imagga partnership prices the pictures used according to quantity: the more is the quantity the higher is the price, so we have to keep number of images used under control. About the possibility to navigate around the platform is limited in the free basic version, so projects of other designers are only visible partially from other designer. Even the possibilities to see companies that sometimes do not want to show its identity but that publish their brief and their inspirational moods will not be accessible to all the users. PREMIUM version for CREATIVES: no limitations of images number to upload. Pictures can be loaded onto the platfor with a very high quality. This implies a showcase to be filled in a more easy way and above all, thanks to a large archive of images the possibility of matching will be facilitated. The premium will offer the opportunity to browse other profiles of designers freely, having an access complete to the mood boards. Creatives then will use the website as a tool for searching inspiration. Regarding that companies who post their briefs in private, creatives will be known contents in detail not accessible normally. The main users of the Premium will be the freelancer willing to spend for access to information not available in order to promote the site in the best way available. BASIC version for COMMISSIONERS: ability to match designers according to the brief proposed and the style is guaranteed, you will also have here the opportunity to post photos in a limited number of 40 units at a maximum resolution of 500 dpi, we believe is enough to get a matching service satisfactory. PREMIUM version for COMMISSIONERS: ability to match guaranteed but more in detail, more accurately. There are more differenciation of matching creatives according to different keywords. The selection includes a report showing detailed information on the matching results implemented by percentage of compatibility between the selected designers. Photos to upload in the website have no number limitations, they can be presented in very high quality. The premium package will be particularly attractive to companies already launched and established.

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT Methods To advertise the startup we begin to promote it in a limited area (Milan),the place where it was created, presenting to companies our idea and involving them for the subscription. Once reached a good number of companies ready to join the first launch, we can also spread the news to the designers of the upcoming activation of FMJ; initially using our network of personal contacts , later through social networks , such as Facebook , Twitter, which are affortable in terms of promotion costs. Once getting a satisfactory number of users both companies and designers, we have been concerned on how to maintain the contact with them in our platform.
To retain and engage the customer, the start -up offers the opportunity to highlight, on the home page, the best projects of the designers, who are selected by us according to the tags chosen that day in a sort of showcase. Every project shown gives the possibility to click each image to obtain information about the project development and designer/company owner. The aim is to increase and monitor the level of attention of the members.

PILOTING Piloting strategy Our startup is a double sided market, that links creative talents and commissioners. In defining the strategy pretotyping we decided to focus on the feedback of the companies, customers that are used to conduct the research of the staff in a traditional way via curriculum and database and that could make resistance to understand the potential of our style matching process. We want to test the trust by the companies in using an innovative research method of designers with an automatic matching of style and content. We interviewed different companies in the fashion industry, first of all to understand the job recruiting’s dynamics. To test interest and feedback on the web platform we have created a web page for Creatives and Commisioners, that shows intentionally only a part of the entire startup with the aim to intrigue the customer through the value offered even before the actual realization of the platform.
This is the webpage preview of FMJ

1- Questions asked to an emerging fashion designer from Milan Which selection method you used to select the employees? The method I have always used is the vision of the curriculum vitae and portfolio. In the context of workplace, how much is important stylistic affinity in creating a project? Enough, especially during this time when the fast fashion has prevailed, we have to create an identity of our company very strong; Of course, finding the right designer would help to improve the concept that the company wants to convey. Would you use a platform of job connection, that allows you to find good candidates, through a match between designers and commisioners according to stylistic affinity and design? I guess that’s one thing I never heard before, but seems interesting. Being an emerging designer I’ll probably try this platform, novelties makes me curious. I do not know if it can works, but certainly ther’s no harm in trying.

2- Questions asked to a Accessory Company owner in Milan. Which selection method you used to select the employees? The method I have always used is the word of mouth. I ask friends if they know designers suitable for the projects I handle. In the context of workplace, how much is important stylistic affinity in creating a project? A lot, because the new employee has to figure out my plans and the reason for the project, especially to understand what I want to convey to the customer. So if designer style is coherent with mine, I find much easier to get the result I want. Would you use a platform of job connection, that allows you to find good candidates, through a match between designers and commisioners according to stylistic affinity and design? Well why not, YES.
3- Questions asked made a Fashion Company owner in Milan. Which selection method you used to select the employees? The method I have always used is the word of mouth. The last time was my son that adviced me on a very good candidate. In the context of workplace, how much is important stylistic affinity in creating a project? A lot, because I always collaborate with designers and I noticed that stylistic consistency helps me to work much better. Let me give you an example: “my last trainee was very good, but came from another fashion company, very different from our own, well, I cannot deny the fact that it took a great effort to make her understand our way of thinking and planning.” Would you use a platform of job connection, that allows you to find good candidates, through a match between designers and commisioners according to stylistic affinity and design? I am a very traditional, of course in recruitment of employees, I’m not familiar with the technology, I prefer to select the designers personally.
