Association of Farm Manufacturers (AFM)  AFM is private not-for-profit NGO, founded in 2011 and operating in the sector of small farming and food manufacturing. AFM is located in small village Hvozd in Central Moravian Region.  The founder of AFM is Family Hrbek, operating own organic dairy farm and transmitting their experience to another farmers and producers
 Association organize cheese making courses and hygiene seminars for farm food manufacturers and producers. Aside of these training activities provides practical consultancy and advisory for individual farmers and food manufacturers.
The specific content of the initiative
Activities of AFM are targeted to small dairy farms to help them to reach more profit and sustainability through giving additional value to: PRODUCED MILK - farm production of cheese, butter, yoghurt, fermented milk products etc… BREEDED ANIMALS farm slaughterhouses and butcheries, production of meat and charcuterie products
The environmental and social issues Crucial part of AFM advisory and training for small farmers and food producers is targeted ( aside of direct practical and professional content ) to: sustainable management of resources environmental impacts of production & consumption adding value to existing resources and reusing existing materials social responsibility in production cultural aspects of production place and the role of the makers as agents of social change
Contribution to the development of a sustainable economy: areas of greatest relevance  AFM supports the sustainability of small and micro-entrepreneurship in food manufacturing and farming, contributes to a better society and a cleaner environment, interacting with other stakeholders (consumers).  During last three years more than 20 small farm dairies and 4 farmslaughteries have been officialy approved and started to work based on support of AFM.
FAMILY DISTILLERY “ŽUFÁNEK”: the specific content of the initiative
Family business, ZUSY Ltd., was founded in 2000 by Marcela and Josef Zufanek along with their sons Martin, Josef and Jan. The company mission is to produce fruit distillates and all-natural spirits and liqueurs according traditional methods. Located in area with high unemployment, the distillery gives allyear and seasonal work to dozens of local people.
The environmental and social issues
 Distillery use for production of spirits (except of some few amount of rare old fruit varieties) solely fruits and herbs from own planted orchards of traditional fruit varieties and flower plants with an area of 15 hectares. The orchards are situated in one of the best locations for fruits growing with a best soil and microclimate.
Contribution to the development of a sustainable economy: areas of greatest relevance  One part of owners´ sustainable business attitude is keeping of bees, respected as one of main pillars in sustainable farming and agriculture. Multimillion army of bees from own apiaries helps not only to family orchards and flowering plants, but to the whole vicinity.  Another method how the company acts sustainably is use of dry fruit stones for heating of all distillery.
Povidla Netopil – production of traditional fruit Fruit preserves manufacture of Mr Netopil is located in Central Moravia. Production is certified as „organic production“ „Povidla“- main product of Netopil´s manufacture - is sweet preserve from prunes prepared in traditional unique way of long hours boiling of ripen fruits without any added sugar or preserving agent, which reduces fruit mass to ca 1/6 – 1/8 and gives the final product proper consistence and durability.
The specific content of the initiative
Artisan manufacturing of local fruits, mostly prunes, plums and pears for sweet preserves was fast forgotten in proces of with industrialisation of food production in 50´s and 60´s. Industrially producted fruit preserves full of sugar and preserving, flavoring and coloring agents replaced the high value traditional product prepared for hundreds of years fast in every village house. That´s why Netopil´s manufacture helps to preserve and restore this part of food heritage of our ancestors.
The environmental issues Production of manufacture is based on fruits from own organic orchards planted by Mr. Netopil. The activities of manufacture are undertaken with as possible no negative impact on the environment - separation and recycling of waste is a common daily activity, in production process no plastic packaging is used. The manufacture employs year-round and seasonally dozen of local people.
Craft Pavlica - construction of straw-thatched roofs: the specific content of the initiative  Manufacture of Mr. Pavlica is currently the only one in Czech Republic producing straw thatches and building strawthatched roofs in traditional way from locally grown and carefully selected straw. Products from the manufacture can be found on most of historical village houses in Czech Republic reconstructed in traditional old way.
The environmental and sustainable issues
 Straw thatches are produced from locally grown and selected straw only, which gives further work to local farmers and which gives more value for straw mainly used as bedding for livestock only.
 Another part of Craft Pavlica activities is production of straw wreaths and other small products, which are still very popular, and which expand its product portfolio.
Craft Hanåk - traditional Hutterite faience pottery: the specific content of the initiative  Manufacture Karel Hanåk is one of those maintaining and protecting the tradition of classical ceramics in all its complexity, intensity and beauty related to the presence and life of Anabaptists in South Moravia. The manufacture presents its art on many folklore and crafts festivals and organizes a ceramic courses for children and adults.
Development of a sustainable economy and preserving the tradition for the next generation
 The manufacture presents its art on many folklore and crafts festivals and organizes a ceramic courses for children and adults. Cooperates also with museums and Institutes of Folk Culture in conservation and reparation of old pottery.
