Portrait was composed in 2004, as a kind of scherzo for strings and piano, dedicated to Adolf Sobrevilla. The constant subdivision of parts required a subsequent revision in 2010, in order to correctly balance the orchestration. On this second version, the piano part was also extended and some high register parts of the first violins were simplified or re-written.
