Maybe.” Cop: “Drinking while driving? Sir, I need you to step out of the car! Is there anything else I need to know? Are you carrying any firearms?” Paul: “Sure! A little moonshine, an AK47 under the seat! But please don’t open the trunk, I’m not sure who that is in there!!” The cop, not believing what he was hearing, and a little afraid, called his superior! At his arrival, the cop told the Sheriff all that had happened. The Sheriff told him to wait by his car and he goes over to talk to Paul: Sheriff: “Sir, my subordinate told me you have someone in your trunk?” Paul opens the trunk: “As you can see, there is nothing in here but my jack and spare tire.” Sheriff: “What about the AK under your seat?” Paul pulling his seat forward: “There’s no such thing here, just an umbrella!!” Sheriff: “I see! What about the moonshine? Where is that?” Paul opens the back door: “There is nothing back here either!” Sheriff: “Have you been drinking and driving, sir?” Paul: “Sir, I don’t smoke, don’t even drink soda! I’ve been in my home all night with my mom and she’s the most fervently religious woman you ever knew! Then this morning I was at Crossfit getting my workout on!! That cop over there must be kidding you! HE told you I was drinking, armed and kidnapped someone? What else, that I was speeding too?”

Crawfish are called a variety of names, from Crayfish, to Crawdads, to Crawfish, to Mud-bugs. In the American south there’s a big tradition of crawfish preparation, especially in places like Louisiana and all along the Gulf Coast. This colloquial portion of Americana has a delicious uniqueness, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers thought it would be great to bring that uniqueness into windswept Wyoming. As it turns out, Gillette residents love their crawfish, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers were correct!

Local Dave Dorson is the man presiding over the event, and he’s as excited as the community. “All proceeds go to benefit a local charitable medical fund,” says Dave. Right now Dave’s got tickets available for the SPE Crawfish Boil at Expresso Lube; call 682-7339 for yours. You can also get tickets just across the way at City Brew, 363-4087; Tool Pushers Supply, 686-6110, and at the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place April 22nd at Cam-

Plex Events Center of Gillette. Crawfish are served from 11am to 1pm, and from 4pm until they’ve all been eaten up! Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for kids between four and eleven, and kids under four eat free! A band plays at five until everyone’s plum stuffed and finished, and there will definitely be adult beverages available; as well as additional foods for those that don’t like crawdads.
