The Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center is a 52,000-sf building featuring a 50-meter competition pool with movable bulkheads, three 1-meter and one 3-meter diving boards, lap pool accessories, office spaces, storage, locker rooms and seating for 800 spectators. The structure is a combination of structural masonry, steel structure, and precast bleachers located on a 13-acre site with collection basins and a water quality/detention pond. VMAC is fully equipped with the latest technology and filtration systems to allow efficient usage of water and energy, Ultra-Violet light disinfection system and regenerative filtration system and a solar thermal water heating system.

This new award-winning recreation center includes “Adventure Island”: an island-themed aquatic park with water slides, a youth play area featuring water cannons and hoses, a four-lane lap pool and a lazy river. Also included is the Willie Morton fitness center, aerobics rooms and courts, elevated track, locker rooms, Fun Zone arcade, multi-purpose community rooms, seniors’ lounge, day care, concessions area and a catering kitchen. The 40-acre site package also included in the project features a four-plex adult softball complex (complete with dugouts, scoreboards and lighting), a miniature golf course, two picnic shelters, bathrooms, playground area, sensory playground, local trails and an amphitheater complete with raised stage, roof and high-end sound system capabilities. The large climbing wall and climbing pinnacle highlight the lounge area, which is accented by a rustic stone fireplace and a spacious pyramid-shaped skylight.

This new Design-Build high school campus includes a pool with a movable bulkhead, allowing for various activities to take place in the pool concurrently. The campus also includes traditional high school classrooms as well as a center for technical education. In addition, there are two gymnasiums, a sports stadium, an auditorium, a cafeteria, a bistro and kitchen for the culinary arts program, a theater, a basement for training and education of the award-winning Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program, an auto body shop and administrative offices. This fast-track renovation of the Breckenridge Recreation Center included the complete replacement of all pool equipment with mechanical upgrades to the boiler system, HVAC minor duct modifications, HVAC control upgrades, related electrical work and interior wall reconfiguration at the pool chemical rooms. This project was a welcomed return for A&P after building the original Breckenridge Recreation Center, completing a roof replacement/ renovation and other MEP renovations prior.

This project encompassed demolition and reconstruction of three pools, including a zerodepth entry tot pool with a slide and play feature; a rec pool offering three lap lanes and a lazy river; a deep pool that consists of a rope swing, climbing wall and diving platform; and an interior/exterior water slide. The project also features a total remodel of the interior locker room area, with the new configuration including a central hall connection to the pool deck and multiple family changing rooms.

The overhaul of the Beck Recreation Center included an addition to the building to define a new main entry to the structure, major site work to construct a new parking lot, significant landscape development of Springhill Park and a 25-panel solar thermal system. The center offers an expanded weight and cardio area, full-size gymnasium, 25-yard indoor swimming pool, 14-person hot tub, group fitness classes and racquetball courts.

An existing eight-lane outdoor lap pool was also renovated. Located in a park setting near the library, senior center and hospital, the facility was modeled after the City’s old train station, which is now home to the senior center.

The Southwest Regional Swimming Facility is one of the only 25 x 50 meter heated competitive swimming pools in the Valley. The project also included an associated 4,000-sf locker room building and a unique shade structure over the entire facility. The pool included two 1-meter and one 3-meter diving boards, starting blocks and lane markers. An equipment room to operate both the competitive pool and an adjacent YMCA family pool was also constructed.

At the time of building, the Aquatic Center is one of only two Myrtha (Olympic pool provider) pools in Texas. The facility consists of two pools; one 50-meter pool for diving and competition swimming and one smaller pool for competition warm-ups and community use. Additionally, there are dressing rooms, a community classroom and a weight room. The facility uses an advanced dehumidification system that pulls warmer water from the surface of the competition pool and circulates that water through the HVAC equipment, allowing for “faster� competitive conditions.

The Chadron State College Armstrong Gymnasium and Events Center Renovation and Addition Project is a two-phased renovation of the current Armstrong PE Building. Phase one (approximately 50,000 sf) included the athletics strength and conditioning center, which involved renovating and converting the existing 6,300-sf natatorium to serve as the new home for athletics training. The second phase included the new 64,000-sf Event Center Arena (seating capacity of 2,700) with lobby area, circulation spaces, athletic offices and auxiliary spaces (including locker rooms, fan amenities, sports medicine and support spaces).

The Residence Hall of Adams State Univeristy is a new 66-bed housing facility that overlooks the stadium on campus. A stadium component is included with seats for 1,600, game-day locker rooms, a multi-purpose room and a press box. The project serves as a keystone to the north portion of the campus. The renovation component of Coronado Hall included demo of existing internal walls, buildout of new bathroom and suite configuration and finishes.
