This library is a new sustainable, 35,000--sf, single-story facility. The envelope consists of brick, stucco, stone veneer, storefront glass systems and aluminum sun shades. The facility features waterless urinals and an access floor system with an underfloor HVAC system. Interior finishes included acoustical panels to dampen noise transmission and carpet tile flooring to facilitate flexibility in the program and ease of maintenance on the HVAC system below the access floor. The rooftop mechanical screen wall is a transpired solar collector that uses perforated metal wall panels and a plenum to pre-heat the outside air feeding the rooftop units. This facility was the first in a new business park so all of the streets and public utilities had to be brought into the site during the construction period. The meeting room can be made available after hours through a dedicated entrance so the entire facility does not have to be opened for the community to use this area of the building.
