Departing January 14 - 21, 2012 Day 1 January 14: Depart New York to Monrovia Our jet departs in the evening from New York for our journey to Liberia. Dinner and breakfast will be served during the overnight flight. (D, B) Day 2 January 15: Monrovia Upon arrival in Monrovia, our tour representative will meet us and assist us through immigration and customs. We proceed to the hotel for check-in. Monrovia is the capital of Liberia with a population of over 3.5 million people. Liberia was founded by freed slaves in 1822. Monrovia was named after U.S. President James Monroe. Monrovia has many beaches, and time permitting we may enjoy the beach before we return to our hotel for dinner (D) Day 3 January 16: Monrovia Breakfast at the hotel restaurant and departure about 9:00 AM to take a tour in and around Monrovia. Sightseeing will include the Providence Baptist Church, Liberia’s first church, a national shrine founded in 1822 Providence Island where the freed slaves first landed—Centennial Memorial Pavilion, and the grave site of Liberia’s longest-serving president, William V.S. Tubman. Lunch from 1:30 – 2:30 PM. Our bus will take us to the Firestone Rubber Plantation in Harbel, Margibi County for a tour of the plantation. Return to hotel for dinner at hotel restaurant. (B, D) Nightlife in Monrovia—open. DAY 4 January 17: Monrovia After breakfast at the hotel restaurant, our bus departs the hotel at 8:30 AM sharp for the visit to Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County—approximately 3 hours from and to Monrovia. To tour Lake Piso, we will take a boat ride on the lake. Lunch is on our own. A great day outside of the city’s hustle and bustle. Later in the afternoon, we return to Monrovia for rest and relaxation and dinner. (B, D) Nightlife in Monrovia - open Day 5 January 18: Monrovia Today is dedicated to our Alpha celebration...details to follow. Day 6 January 19: Inauguration Today is dedicated to our Alpha celebration...details to follow. Day 7 January 20: Monrovia After breakfast, we will visit the regional settlements established by the pioneers who returned to Liberia from the United States in the 1800s. We will view the homes similar to those of the old South during the antebellum days (on a smaller scale). We will visit either Wulki Farms Resort or a similar resort for a chance to have lunch by or take a swim in the infinity pool and look at the animals on site including ostriches, crocodiles, a chicken farm, horses, donkeys and others. Enjoy the fresh air of the unspoiled countryside and marvel at the lush green foliage of Africa. Lunch is at the resort restaurant. Day 8 January 21: Monrovia Today we bid farewell to our Liberian friends, transfer to the airport for our flight home and arrive in the USA the same day.
