SAFETY & FASHION IS OUR PRIORITY
Atlantic Pacific Companies practices Safety First! Did you know our corporate o ce in Atlanta is in a high-rise building that conducts fire safety training regularly? As part of the commitment to keep our Leadership, Asset Management, Accounting, and Systems teams safe – there are elected Safety O cers in the o ce.
Pictured from the left: Montreze Roundtree, Ishan Achar, Caleb Poole, Tammy Roberts, Tyler James, Jessica Streeter, Jasmine Swanson, and Anna Turnipseed. Montreze and Anna started a couple of months ago - Welcome to the A|P family and Safety Team! You may notice one VERY FANCY vest that Tyler is wearing. This is no ordinary vest – it's the o cial A|P bedazzled vest (try not to be jealous)! It has been around for many years and was handcrafted by two very crafty A|P Lifers! We've been told that Tammy Roberts was going to wear the bedazzled vest but is only the associate warden. Tyler is the actual warden, and he wanted to wear it.
Huge thanks to everyone pictured. We're so grateful you are all there to keep our A|P ATL Corporate team safe!

ONLINE HAZARDS - DDOS
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, one holdover has been an increased reliance in online services such as: ordering groceries online for curbside pick-up or delivery, a higher reliance on shopping websites like Amazon, or food delivery services like DoorDash.
However, as with any good thing, there are those out there trying to disrupt it for reasons only they know. Among these disruptive operations, the most common and well known, that you may have either heard of or experienced yourself is the Distributed Denial-of-Service attack, or DDoS.
What is a DDoS?
If you’ve ever visited a reliable online store and found it unable to load when most things do, it may be a victim of a DDoS attack. Though it may sound complicated, a DDoS attack breaks down to a coordinated e ort to flood a single service with so many requests that the service is unable to process any more. Your attempt to reach the website is lost among a sea of other requests, resulting in timeouts.
How does it work?
A DDoS requires a bit of planning, but can be carried out by a single person and usually starts with viruses. The first step is to infect a series of PCs in order to get enough IP addresses to flood a single service. These infected PCs sometimes remain infected without the user noticing as the user is not usually the target. The infected PCs are known as bots. Once the bots are active, they become linked together into what is known as a botnet, so that they can all be given a command at the same time. Once that happens, a single command can utterly smother a single website or service.
That sounds annoying. Is there a way to combat it?
Some services can detect DDoS attacks and mitigate some of the flooding, but the services will still degrade whenever a DDoS is attempted. These are battles of attrition and it is very di cult to completely conquer such an attack, at least with current systems in play as it depends entirely on the scale of the attacker.

• ½ cup white sugar
• 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer to beat egg yolks with ½ cup sugar until pale in color, light and frothy. Blend in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla, and salt.
