Atlantic Pacific Companies named as one of the Best Places to Work by the National Apartment Association. Wednesday, June 2, 2021
The National Apartment Association (NAA) announces Miami, Florida-based Atlantic Pacific Companies (A|P) as a winner of the 2021 NAA Best Places to Work award program, which identifies member organizations that encourage employee engagement and performance that foster collaborative and innovative work environments. The award pays tribute to employees and their hard work, which directly contributes to the success of suppliers, management companies, and the rental housing industry as a whole. “At A|P, we are family; literally and figuratively. We have created a work environment that allows space for collaboration and innovation,” said A|P’s COO Randy Weisburd. “We are beyond humbled to be recognized as NAA’s best places to work; this is only possible with our A|P family that’s 03 JULY 2021
growing bigger and growing better every day.” “Congratulations to Atlantic Pacific Companies for building an organization focused on employee engagement and performance,” said Bob Pinnegar, NAA President and CEO. “Your employees made it clear that A|P is a great place to work that cares about, listens to, and acts upon the needs and ideas of their employees. Congratulations to the entire team.” Winners were determined based on scores gathered from a Net Promoter Scores (NPS)-based employee satisfaction survey, launched as part of the awards program. Employees themselves determine where their organization ranks, providing employers with valuable, firsthand feedback about their workplace.

Heat
Safety Tips Summer heat can be dangerous even deadly - if you don't take the proper precautions. According to Extreme Heat: A Prevention Guide to Promote Your Health and Public Safety, a publication of the Centers
for Disease Control, heat exposure resulted in more than 8,000 deaths inside the United States between 1979 and 2003. With such a startling statistic, it's easy to see why it's so important to be aware of the risks associated with A|P NEWSLETTER 04

heat and to know how to stay safe in summer weather. Find out how to properly prepare for and protect yourself and your loved ones from soaring temperatures. Everyone should follow these basic heat safety tips in order to avoid the dangers of heat exposure. Keep these suggestions in mind: During the hottest hours of the day, stay inside. If possible, stay inside an air-conditioned building. The hottest hours of the day are typically from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Dress lightly, and when sleeping, use lightweight, breathable covers. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. According to the Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stress page provided by the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service, when temperatures climb above 90 degrees, it's important to drink at least a gallon of liquid per day, preferably water. Those who are overweight and in humid conditions need even more. Avoid drinking alcohol and beverages that are carbonated or contain caffeine when temperatures are high, as they can lead to dehydration. Keep blinds and curtains closed from morning until the late afternoon to block extra direct heat from sunlight. Move your exercise routine to early 05 JULY 2021
morning or later in the evening. Never ever leave a person or a pet in the car in hot conditions while you run to do a quick errand. People and animals can succumb to heat exposure and death very quickly in a hot car. Cars can become overheated quickly and when overheated become like ovens. It's never safe. Properly supervise children during outdoor play, being sure to monitor them closely and frequently. Seek medical care right away if you become nauseous, start vomiting or experience cramps. Stay on the lowest level of your home. Use a fan. Don't place the fan directly in front of a window because it may push hot air in. Try placing the fan so that it blows in the room and out the window instead. Use small appliances like slow cookers and tabletop grills rather than your traditional oven or stove to keep kitchen heat to a minimum. Verify that seat belts and car seat restraints are not too hot before buckling yourself or anyone else into a car. Article from Love to Know by Mary Gormandy White. Network Health
Upstream & Downstream with Sergio Gordillo, Leabert Henry, and Michael Hanna Many of us have become well acquainted with working in a remote environment: in doing so we have found ourselves having to rely more on our home networks than we may be used to. Since that is the case, it’s important now more than ever to be able to identify common warnings or issues with your home network equipment. Most modems today are equipped with a set of lights to show you the processes the modem is currently undertaking. Many of them are self-explanatory (from a Wifi Icon indicating the wireless network is active, to an icon to display connected to the web) but the lesser-known ones are a bit more subtle in their meaning but just as important: the Upstream and Downstream indicators (usually denoted by US and DS) What do they do? Downstream is a measurement of information being pushed through your modem to your local network.
Every time you open a file on the internet or stream a video, the Downstream process is pulling the information from the network source, through your modem to you! Upstream is the inverse. It is the measurement of information being pushed back to the network through your modem from your network device. When you tell your PC to do something on a website, enter information to be posted or otherwise viewed by a server, that is the upstream process. What does it mean when they are not working properly? If your modem’s indicating an unstable downstream, it usually translates slow download times, pages breaking during loading or moments during a stream where it is regularly interrupted. The most likely culprit being the signal coming into your home. If your modem is indicating an unstable upstream, it usually translates to service interruptions when sending data to websites, broken uploads, and failed request messages but tends to be a lot less noticeable. Upstream issues are usually problems with the modem itself. Hopefully, this helps you identify issues with your network setup and how to address them. A|P NEWSLETTER
