6 Tips for Successful Spring Cleaning By: Sarah Aguirre
The flowers are blooming, the birds are serenading, and the house still feels like it's stuck with winter blues. Spring cleaning is a tradition that allows us to freshen up our homes and get a head start on the often hectic seasons of spring and summer. It can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be difficult. Here are six spring cleaning tips to get you started.
1. Clean Room by Room
Approaching your house room by room is the most effective way to deep clean it. Create cleaning checklists for each room to help you get organized and to remind you of the areas that need extra attention. Feel free to skip the areas that have been cleaned recently, and focus on the parts of your home that were largely neglected over the winter. 03 APRIL 2021
2. Organize and Clear the Clutter One of the biggest parts of spring cleaning is often getting rid of clutter. A systematic four-step approach can be helpful for this. Identify problem areas, analyze reasons for the clutter, determine solutions, and implement these remedies. Sorting your belongings into four categories—trash, give away, store, or put away—can also be effective as you go through the spring-cleaning process. Move the clutter out as soon as possible, whether it's bringing a donation box to a charity or planning a yard sale.
3. Get the Household Involved
Make spring cleaning a household endeavor. Even young children can be excellent helpers. Assign age-appropriate chores, so everyone feels included. Try throwing on some music as you all clean or establishing a household reward as an incentive to get the work done.

4. Tackle the Seasonal Chores
Many chores need to be done seasonally, especially in preparation for warmer weather. So incorporate them into your spring-cleaning routine to get them out of the way early. For instance, tackle outdoor chores, such as cleaning the grill, patio, and outsides of windows, as soon as the weather warms up. Also, store winter clothing, bedding, decor, and other items. And pull out your spring items to give your home a refreshed look.
5. Keep Cleaning Products to a Minimum
If you need to shop for new cleaning products for spring cleaning, keep your items to a minimum. Myriad cleaning supplies can create unnecessary clutter, and you probably don't need all of them to keep your home fresh and clean. Opt for a good all-purpose cleaner and microfiber cloths. Those items will cover the majority of surfaces in your home. Then, purchase other specialty cleaning supplies only as needed.
6. Establish New Cleaning Habits A thorough spring cleaning that covers the whole house is a great opportunity to establish ongoing cleaning habits, which can make the next spring cleaning even easier. For instance, don't try to do all of your spring cleaning in one day or even one weekend. Instead, tackle items on your spring cleaning to-do list for just 15 minutes each day. That will help to get you in the habit of tidying up for 10 to 15 minutes per day even after you're done with your spring cleaning tasks. Atlantic Pacific Communities For this month’s spotlight, we gathered insight from Senior Vice Presidents Lindsay Lecour and Liz Wong on their division’s highlights in honor of celebrating Women’s Construction Week and Women’s History Month in March. A|P Communities learned a lot in the past year, so in the spirit of pushing the Insight Flywheel (pictured below) forward, here are some highlights and observations from the past year.
Our team is perfectly suited to the challenges faced in the last year. We rely on people who do not require a lot of encouragement or "management" to do the right thing. That kind of team works remarkably well when all the rules of engagement change overnight (even when we can't all pile into a conference room to figure it out). We fought for and
won grant money to help our low-income residents; as we also closed financing on five new developments, stabilized six developments, and purchased three developments. Our team dramatically grew by doubling our Development and Applications roster. Well-deserved promotions were celebrated because of the way these individuals rose to the occasion. Our focus is more relevant than ever. Housing lower- and middle- income households took on new significance when the world went on lock down, and housing becomes healthcare. It is even more prominent when the confluence of factors causes historically high focus on equity in America. Various government agencies seemed to recognize the significance of our service to the community this year, with fully funded Sadowski funds in Florida, big benefits in the CARES and HEALS acts, and strong supporters of affordable housing being elected in Miami-Dade County. Our geographic footprint is a winner. It seems like every fifth headline is talking about big shifts in the finance and tech industries that directly benefit Texas and Florida. has been an unprecedented migration of talent and capital to the markets that we have been the most active in, which creates massive opportunities that we are just beginning to explore. This year, we look forward to continuing our system of the right team working on the right stuff in the right places! C: One of the best ways to calm down during a stressful time at work is by squeezing a stress ball. Don’t have one? Here is a quick DIY on how to make a stress ball. First find a balloon, then you want to fill that balloon with all-purpose flour. Once you have filled most of the balloon up you can tie it up, and there you have your very own stress ball!

IOT Threats
with Sergio Gordillo, Leabert Henry, and Michael Hanna Most everyone these days have some form of smart device at home or at work, whether it’s a toaster, smart watch, coffee machine, washer or dryer, etc. While these devices make life so much easier and simplify your routine; these devices are also huge security risks. Just as technology improves, so do hackers. Hackers found that while our security is getting better and better, they no longer need to spend hours trying to find ways around a firewall when they can exploit issues with smart devices already in the network (as they are usually connected by WIFI). This is what we in cybersecurity call “Internet of Things” Threats (IOT Threats). Some of these devices overlook security, so it’s important to find reputable
companies that have invested more time into the security of their devices. However, the quantity of types of software in these devices is so broad its almost impossible to review everything. One solution is to ensure every device is updated regularly. These updates help cover holes that hackers use to gain access to your internal network. Lastly, you can always ensure you’re keeping an eye on what devices are communicating with what. You should log into your home router and see what devices are connected. You can do so by going to your gate way IP address in a web browser or simply calling your internet provider and ask them to show you how to gain better insight into what is doing what.
