Flip Flop Socklets
This pattern is based on another pattern found here on Ravelry. I modified it to fit with my yarn type and foot size. I wear a US size 7 and this snugly fits around my foot. You may need to adjust the number of stitches per row based on your foot size, yarn type/weight, and hook size. Materials needed: One skein sock weight yarn (I used Kroy Sock Yarn in “Sporty Stripes) Size F (3.75mm) Crochet Hook Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced Beginner Top Ribbing: Foundation Row: ch 4, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each across. Ch 1, turn. Row 1: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Row 2-36: Repeat Row 1 until you have a strip that will fit around your foot comfortably. (36 rows for me)
Main Body of Socklet: Note: The main body of the socklet is worked perpendicular to the edge of the ribbing. Join ends of ribbing with a slip stitch. Slip stitch along edge of ribbing so you now have a circle. ch 1. Row 1: Work 1 sc in same stitch as sl st, and in each row of ribbing around. Join to first stitch. (32 stitches total for me) Row 2-15: *Ch 1. Working in the round, sc in each stitch around. Join to first stitch of row.* Repeat * until socklet body reaches desired length. (15 rows for me)
Toe Division: To keep the “seams on the bottom of the socklet, you will need to follow the instructions below for one left and one right socklet.
For RIGHT socklet: Sc around the tube until you reach the point above where your big toe will be (It was 18 sc for me.) Ch 6, sk 11 sc, sc in next 3 stitches, join to beginning of row. Small Toe Sleeve: You should now be at the place where your last row started. Ch 1. Sc until you reach the side of the sock where your little toe will be (5sc for me). Repeat [sc2tog, sc in next sc] two times. Sc in each sc around until you reach chain, sc in back loops only of chain, sc in both loops of remaining sc’s. Sc in each remaining sc around. (I did a total of 3 rows with 25 stitches per row on rows #2 and #3) Fasten off. You should have something that looks like this -->
Big Toe Sleeve: Join yarn in any sc. sc in each sc until you reach ch6. sc in front loops only of ch6. Sc in both loops of each remaining sc around, and work even for desired number of rows. (I did 4 rows here of 17 stitches each row) Fasten off.
For LEFT socklet: Keeping the seam (where stitches were joined in previous rows) on the bottom of the foot, sc around the tube until you reach the point below where your big toe will be (It was 3 sc for me.) Ch 6, sk 11 sc, sc in next stitch and in remaining sts of round. Small Toe Sleeve: You should now be at the place where your last row started. Ch 1. Sc in each sc around until you reach chain, sc in back loops only of chain, sc in both loops of remaining sc’s until you reach the side of the sock where your little toe will be. Repeat [sc2tog, sc in next sc] two times. Sc in each remaining sc around. Now sc in each stitch around until toe sleeve reaches desired length. (I did a total of 3 rows with 25 stitches per row on rows #2 and #3) Fasten off. Finishing: Weave in ends and you are done! I would think these would do best being hand washed even though the label says that this yarn is machine washable and dryable. Happy hooking!
