Come along for the ride Mondays at 7 p.m. as MotorWeek celebrates its 35th year on public television with a focus on the automobile’s 21st century revolution. Season 36 of television’s longest-running automotive series will feature a hands-on exploration of the future of autonomous driving. Host John Davis and the MotorWeek crew examine how the push towards driverless vehicles is already impacting the cars we drive today. Episodes will highlight reviews of the now emerging Congested Traffic Self-Drive systems, and how rapidly established safety features like Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist are maturing and influencing new car-buying decisions. Season 36 will also investigate if adding autonomous safety systems to new cars means a rise in the cost of ownership for maintenance. MotorWeek’s team of reporters and photographers are true road warriors, traveling the world covering auto shows and new vehicle launches. As one of the first mainstream media outlets to provide regular coverage of advances in green motoring technologies and the use of alternative fuels, MotorWeek is tuned in to consumer demand for the latest on fuel efficient vehicles. MotorWeek airs Mondays at 7 p.m. MotorWeek’s magazine-style format features regular segments that both entertain and inform: Road Tests: From sedans to sport utility vehicles, to exotics and economy cars, every vehicle takes a spin on the MotorWeek track. A series of rigorous tests evaluates each on performance, technology, practicality, and efficiency. FYI: Feature Reporter Lauren Morrison gives consumers the inside track on timely, in-depth automotive information and money-saving advice. MotorNews: Yolanda Vazquez tracks auto industry news, focusing on crash tests, safety ratings, new advances in technology, and the latest developments in the auto industry.

Over the Edge: If it’s off-the-wall and it’s automotive, Zach Maskell will track it down in this unique look at the auto world gone extreme. Gear: Greg Carloss and Ben Davis dig up the hottest automotive accessories and the hippest apparel in this fun, fast-paced lifestyle feature on the trendiest automotive gear on the planet. Two Wheelin’: Producer and Two Wheelin’ correspondent Brian Robinson reviews the latest motorcycles and scooters, testing them on the street and on the track.

ONE-MINUTE BIOGRAPHY with

Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston on January 19, 1809. Both of his parents passed away by the time he was just three years old, and he was taken in by the Allan family. Poe published his first book of poems in 1827. He published another set of poems before beginning at West Point, but was thrown out after just eight months. He then moved to Baltimore to live with his aunt and cousin, Maria and Virginia Clemm. Poe married Virginia when she was just 13 years old. Despite her young age, the two were happily married until her early death at the age of 24. Poe moved around the East Coast, from Richmond to New York City to Philadelphia. He wrote for magazines, publishing both his own stories and poems as well as reviews of other works. “The Raven,” published in 1845, made Poe a household name. His lectures drew large crowds. On October 3, 1849, Poe was found in a bar room in Baltimore and brought to a hospital. He died there on October 7. The exact cause of his death is still unknown. See Poe’s biography told through his tales in Edgar Allan Poe’s Mystery Theatre, airing Monday, October 24 at 8 p.m. Then celebrate Halloween with his famous “The Fall of the House of Usher” story during Trilogy of Terror: Theater of the Mind, airing Monday, October 31 at 8 p.m.
