Join WYCC for two full days of mystery and intrigue. WYCC PBS Chicago is airing a Fall Mystery Marathon on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tune in to catch up with your old favorites, or meet some new detectives whose stories will surprise you.
Dalziel and Pascoe
Father Brown
Mark Williams stars as a crime-solving Roman Catholic priest in the small British countryside village of Kembleford. The TV series takes place in the 1950s and is based on the stories by G.K. Chesterton.
Masterpiece Mystery! Poirot
The suave Belgian super-sleuth Hercule Poirot returns with two new cases, based on the books by Agatha Christie. David Suchet reprises his famous mustachioed role that he has played for 25 years.
Masterpiece Mystery! Endeavour
Get to know the young Endeavour Morse, played by Shaun Evans, as he deals with the aftermath of the tragic events that left him languishing in prison. His deductive powers are still running in high gear.
Masterpiece Mystery! Endeavour
Dalziel and Pascoe
This detective duo is always on hand to solve classic murder mysteries in the fictional Yorkshire town of Wetherton. The show is based on the 19 mystery novels written by Reginald Hill, first published in 1970.
Masterpiece Mystery! Grantchester
The improbable crime-fighting team of Reverend Sidney Chambers, with his priestly collar, and Inspector Geordie Keating, with his rumpled raincoat, bring justice and spiritual nourishment to 1950s England.
Inspector Morse
Endeavour Morse is all grown up. He is a most unlikely detective—but also Oxford’s most famous export. Morse travels through town in his signature red Jaguar and solves a variety of murder mysteries.
Father Brown
Masterpiece Mystery! Inspector Lewis
Inspector Lewis and his partner Inspector Hathaway investigate new cases of murder and other crimes in the seemingly perfect academic haven of Oxford. They deal with new faces on the force and old family ties.
Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime
Tommy and Tuppence Beresford are a husband-and-wife team of amateur sleuths who foil plots in 1950s Cold War Britain. Tuppence is quick-witted and irrepressible while Tommy is clever and logical.
Vera
Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope is a brilliant murder investigator and kind-hearted loner with a tendency to become obsessed with her job. The series is based on the novels by best-selling author Ann Cleeves.
Masterpiece Mystery! Poirot
The Inspector Lynley Mysteries
Upper-crust DI Thomas Lynley, also the eighth Earl of Asherton, must partner with working-class DS Barbara Havers to solve crimes for Scotland Yard. The show is based on the novels by Elizabeth George.
Please see pages 16–17 for the full Fall Mystery Marathon schedule and episode descriptions. Vera

ONE-MINUTE BIOGRAPHY with
Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash was born on February 26, 1932, in Kingsland, Arkansas. He was one of seven children. When he was three years old, his family moved to a farm in northeast Arkansas. Cash helped his parents and siblings work the land. Cash joined the U.S. Air Force as a young adult and spent time in Landsburg, Germany. That was where he organized his first band, the Landsburg Barbarians. After his military service, he auditioned as a solo artist but was rejected. In the spring of 1955, though, he was recording with his band The Tennessee Three. “I Walk the Line” was his fourth single. It was on the record charts for 43 weeks and sold over 2 million copies. Cash was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in 1956. His singing partner and eventual second wife, June Carter, helped Cash overcome his drug addiction. The Johnny Cash Show aired on ABC from 1969 to 1971. In 1980, Cash became the youngest living inductee to the County Music Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Cash passed away on September 12, 2003, in Nashville. See how Cash placed himself in the middle of the fervent social upheavals of the 1960s during Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears, airing Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m.

SCIENCE, COMMUNITY Program: Growing a Greener World – The Edible Schoolyard: A Class Without Walls and a Love to Learn (Berkeley, CA) Focus: Gardening Grades: 4–12 Airing: Sunday, November 20 at 3:30 p.m. Overview: Visit the Edible Schoolyard in Berkeley, California. This nationally recognized organization was conceived in 1994 after a seemingly innocuous comment about the condition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School by restaurateur Alice Waters who passed by the school daily. Principal Neil Smith then contacted Alice and, knowing of her reputation, invited her to plant a garden at the school.
