Windsor Sikh family lives in fear of unknown tormentors after attempted firebombings Trevor Wilhelm An east-end family is living in fear following weeks of torment from strangers who appeared at their front door demanding money, and have tried twice to fire bomb their home. The second attempt to burn the Dadiala family home early Thursday came just six days after someone used the same method — Molotov cocktails — to torch the house of another member of the same Sikh community. Rupander Dadiala, who lives on Casablanca Street with her husband, three young children and in-laws, said the family hasn’t slept in weeks. “It’s very scary,” she said. “I have three kids, I have three little ones. We are all scared, for sure. It’s not a nice experience. We don’t know what to do. We are calling police every time we have any problem. So far nobody has been caught. They just disappear.” Police and firefighters were called to Dadalia’s home, in the 7900 block of Casablanca, around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. The Windsor police arson unit is investigating. “Preliminary indicators suggest some type of accelerant was thrown into a garage door,” said Windsor police spokesman Sgt. Matthew D’Asti. “It selfextinguished, so there is minimal damage. But obviously we are treating it as a major incident. We know the potential of what could have happened.” The Windsor police arson unit

refused to comment further on the case later in the day. Dadiala said the troubles began about three weeks ago when two people showed up at the front door demanding money. Dadiala said she has no idea why her family is being targeted or who is doing it. They installed cameras around the house after the harassment started, but so far they haven’t recorded any video that could help identify the culprits. “I will say since the last three weeks somebody is trying to bother us,” said Dadiala. “The first day when they came,

they asked for $500. They were trying to come inside the house, so my father-inlaw and mother-in-law pushed the door hard to close the door.” She said one of the people wedged his foot in the door to stop it from closing. Her father-in-law had to slam the door on the man’s foot to get him to relent. That same day, said Dadiala, the people came back around midnight and pounded on the door before leaving. They did the same the following the night, she said. She said they followed that up last week by throwing a Molotov cocktail
against the side door of the garage. The fire bomb scorched the door but didn’t cause any other damage. They tried again early Thursday. Dadiala said it looks like they were actually trying to burn the family’s minivan. “They actually attacked the side of the car and those things bounced back on the garage door,” said Dadiala. She said that based on the damage it appears the culprits threw the fire bombs at the family vehicles, but the bottles bounced off and exploded against the door of the garage, which is attached to the house. The fire burned out before igniting the house, but left melted plastic and black charring across the white door. There was still some police tape up Thursday afternoon, and shattered beer bottles littered the driveway. The side door was also still charred from last week’s attempt to burn the building. Dadiala said she knows Harvinder Bal, who experienced something eerily similar but far more dangerous last weekend. Bal was awakened around 1 a.m. Saturday by the sounds of shattering glass and a fire alarm. He ran to his living room to find a shattered bottle and flames consuming his Spago Crescent home. Bal escaped with this family, but the fire caused $275,000 in damage. Windsor police are calling it arson. Bal told The Star following the fire he believes he was targeted. Continued on page 02

Court battle continues almost a decade after Air India acquittal It also says they created numbered companies that they used “to enter into sham transactions, to make payments not owed and to acknowledge liabilities that do not exist.” Both sides were in B.C. Supreme Court Tuesday asking Justice Mark McEwan to order the other party to provide more information about their positions.
By Kim Bolan-The Vancouver Sun Almost 10 years after Ripudaman Singh Malik was acquitted in the Air India bombing, the B.C. government and his family are still battling in court over the money used to pay his legal fees. The government wants Malik, his wife and his three eldest sons to pay damages, alleging they conspired to hide his assets so he would qualify for legal funding before his terrorism trial began in 2003. Malik was acquitted of murder and conspiracy charges on March 16, 2005, but continued to fight the government’s efforts to get repayment of more than $5 million loaned for his defence team. The Vancouver businessman finally repaid the millions in February 2012, but that didn’t end the long-running civil suit by the government. The attorney general’s latest statement of claim, filed last July, alleges Malik, his wife Raminder and sons Jaspreet, Hardeep and Darshan, “wrongfully and maliciously conspired

together to defraud and injure the plaintiff by assisting Ripudaman to hide his assets and disguise his net worth.”
Crown lawyer Frank Potts said neither Darshan nor Hardeep Malik have provided details of how a numbered company of which they’re directors received the cash to buy out $1.8 million in mortgages against their parents’ properties. The company was started in October 2006 and bought out the two mortgages within eight months. Potts said the government’s position is that the money really came from Malik and his wife. “They say the company came up with the money independent of Ripudaman and Raminder. One would think there’s going to be some paper that

would detail where that money came from,” Potts said. Justice McEwan asked Darshan Tuesday where the company’s cash came from. “I don’t know,” he replied. McEwan referred Darshan to his own statement of defence, where he claimed the cash didn’t come from his dad. “If you can’t back up what you say in your statement of defence, you’ve got a problem,” McEwan said. Hardeep Malik told McEwan the money for the company came from his mother’s sale of some property on the island. “From what I recollect, there was a property sold in Duncan and that monies my mom put towards a numbered company for her children,” he said. McEwan ordered the Malik sons to provide the government with their income tax returns from 2003 to 2005 as well as any documentation related to the company’s source of funds. the And McEwan ordered government to provide Raminder Malik’s lawyer with more details about the specific allegations of her role in the purported scheme to diminish her husband’s assets. McEwan also granted Katherine Wellburn’s request for the total legal, administrative and investigative costs the government wants to recover in connection with the Malik case.

Avian flu detected at two Fraser Valley farms; up to 18,000 chickens, turkeys dead or to be destroyed Abbotsford: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says as many as 18,000 chickens and turkeys are either dead or will have to be killed due to the detecion of avian influenza at two Fraser Valley farms. "At one farm, there were originally 11,000 birds and over half have died from the disease," B.C.'s chief veterinary officer Jane Pritchard said in a conference call Tuesday afternoon. Health officials reported earlier the presence of H5 avian flu had been detected at a turkey farm in Abbotsford and a broiler breeder farm in Chilliwack. Preliminary testing by the Province of British Columbia has confirmed the presence of H5 avian influenza on two farms in the Fraser Valley; a turkey farm in Abbotsford and a broiler breeder farm in Chilliwack. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has placed the two farms under quarantine to control disease spread and the industry sector has been notified to adopt enhanced biosecurity practices. Further testing by the CFIA is underway to confirm pathogenicity and to determine the precise subtype and strain of the virus. Pathogenicity refers to

the severity of the illness caused in birds. Results are expected within days. Avian influenza viruses do not pose risks to food safety when poultry and poultry products are properly handled and cooked. Avian influenza rarely affects humans that do not have consistent contact with infected birds. Public health authorities stand ready to take precautionary measures as warranted. laboratory in Abbotsford, after both operations experienced sudden deaths of birds over the weekend. All birds on the infected premises will be humanely euthanized and disposed of, in accordance with provincial environmental regulations and internationally accepted disease control guidelines. As lead response agency the CFIA will ensure the quarantine of the infected farms, and determine a surrounding surveillance zone for further testing. The CFIA will also lead on required depopulation of birds, while the Province will provide technical support on required carcass disposal. Once all birds have been removed, the CFIA will oversee the cleaning and disinfection of the barns, vehicles, equipment and tools to eliminate any infectious material that may remain.
New Delhi, (ANI): Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra, who was recently in the capital to promote a campaign called ‘Girl Rising’, said female actors don’t only have cat fights but come together for causes they believe in. ‘The Girl Rising: ENGAGE INDIA’ program will work to raise awareness and change attitudes and behaviors relating to the education of girls through local language releases of the powerful feature film titled ‘Girl Rising’. “I think the kind of women got involved in this film and the international actors, who have been part of this, really gave ‘Girl Rising’ film a voice. And, I am very proud to be a part of ‘Girl Rising’ and bringing this film to India,” the 32-year old actress said. “In India, nine actresses will be telling the stories of these nine girls. Freida Pinto will be part of it, I am a part of it, and the beauty of it was, it just took one phone call from me. I called my colleagues and all of them said yes. They didn’t even hesitate once that it’s for another girl. Thus, proving a point that female actors don’t only have cat fights; we come together for causes we believe in,” Chopra added. The United States Agency for International Development has announced USD 3 million as fund to support the program worldwide.
New Bond film to feature Rome in backdrop BY NICK EAGLAND If you’re the type of person who checks under the couch pillows for loose change, you might want to find out if a chunk of approximately $100 million in unclaimed funds in B.C. belongs to you. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the non-profit B.C. Unclaimed Properties Society (BCUPS) is urging British Columbians to check its website to see if they have cash sitting in forgotten credit union accounts, unpaid wages or other unclaimed funds that may have slipped their minds. Last year, the BCUPS paid out more than $900,000 to claimants and this year
about $1.2 million, according to a release. The society received more than $8 million in 2013 and more than $5 million so far this year. Payouts average between $200 and $300, though someone received $357,262 in 2011. Most of the unclaimed funds come from financial institutions, companies, courts, tax offices and the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia. Claimants must complete a verification process to confirm their identity. To search the BCUPS database, visit unclaimedpropertybc.ca.
Rome, (ANI): The new James Bond film will have Rome as one of the locations, it has been revealed. According to The Local, British actor Daniel Craig, who’ll return as the famous secret agent for the 4th time, would be seen landing through a parachute out of a helicopter, on the Ponte Sisto, a narrow 1 5 t h - c e n t u r y pedestrian bridge across the River Tiber, that is itself a replacement for an earlier walkway dating back to the fourth century. The untitled 24th James Bond film,
which is to be helmed by Sam Mendes, would begin filming next year at London’s Pinewood Studios, and is expected to hit theatres at the end of 2015.

Guest Editorial Canadian business group promotes sensible rules for temporary foreign workers BY DON CAYO

Yet a small, but significant, percentage of CFIB members report being hurt by the federal reaction to the complaints. Much of the 35-page report is given over to skewering what it calls myths about use or misuse of the program. For example, it was never an easy and cheap alternative to hiring locally — it was complex and time-consuming and more expensive, meaning companies tried hard to find Canadians first. Nor was it used nearly as frequently as some critics assume, at least by small business. Only 18 per cent of CFIB members even considered using it, the report said, only 14 per cent tried to get approval, and only 10 per cent succeeded. And the median number of foreign

Among the many life-threatening hazards to the space traveller, cosmic radiation is a major one, considerably limiting the time astronauts may spend in space without incurring excessive risk to their health from too high a dose of this ionizing radiation.

THIS JUST IN: Members of the Kardashian family love to pose naked for public consumption. The headline-generating trend started with a very revealing Kim Kardashian nude pictorial in Playboy seven years ago. It then spread to the supposedly charitable shots of Khloe Kardashian nude, which were snapped on behalf of PETA in 2008. Kim has donned her birthday suit on many occasions since then, while photos of Kourtney Kardashian nude went viral this week, courtesy of DuJour magazine. by Hilton Hater

by Tyler Johnson It may be hard to believe, but it's been almost six years since LeAnn Rimes stole Eddie Cibrian from Brandi Glanville. In that time, LeAnn and Eddie have done most of the things married couples do bought a house, argued, starred in one of the worst reality shows ever. But despite LeAnn being quite vocal on the subject, they have yet to have a kid together.
That may be soon to change, as some eagle-eyed viewers of last night's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting swear they saw the beginnings of a bun in LeAnn's oven during her oddly risque performance:Mrs. Rimes-Cibrian kept her long overcoat buttoned up for most of the performance, but when she busts it open for the big, sexy finale (of a holidaythemed kids' song), if you squint just hard enough, it looks a miniscule bump may be visible.

Apna Roots, December 5th, 2014
A powerful romantic theme fills your days until next August. The two weeks ahead emphasize love – love in its broadest sense, encompassing humanity – and a romance started now (or recently) “fits” you in more ways than mere thrill – (Mar.2121- April April 19) 19) it has marital, cultural, intellectual (Mar. overtones that could make this much more than a mere love affair. However, take care with a Libra – this sign might dither, join you then run, join then run. The weeks (and months) ahead also support you in far travel, legal affairs, publishing/media, religion, cultural affairs and higher education. Aim your thoughts, actions toward your domestic situation Sunday to Tuesday eve.
The accent continues on romance, adventure, taking risks, seeking beauty and pleasure, and your children’s talents. Don’t hesitate or be too cautious. You’re riding a winning streak – perhaps the biggest one since 2007! If you’re unattached, approach someone over (July 23-Aug 22) the next two weeks. If you’re married, plan a family trip, a culture bash (e.g., start your (July 23-Aug 22) own film festival) or help your kids put on a romance. You hav Someone else yo play or a magic show – build them a stage in the back yard or basement. (Reserve the big role for yourself, of course.) Relationships intensify now to mid-January: this can trigger love or war – the choice is yours and theirs. After midweek, into January 3, your workplace grows more affectionate, your work enjoyable. Retreat, lie low, rest – get your beauty sleep on Sunday.
Deep, heavy thoughts, investigations, desires and actions lead to one thing: consequence. The two weeks ahead emphasize commitment and consequence. Make sure you know what you’re getting into: research or do some detective work – lift the covers, open the closets, ask questions. These are also two great weeks to investigate a health problem, to find a permanent cure. Remember, higher-ups are a bit testy and pushy now to mid-January, so work below the radar – but be honest, as (Apr. 20- may 20) purely selfish motives will lead to a later reckoning. Sunday morning to Tuesday eve brings errands, calls, emails, visits, paperwork, siblings and casual friends – be curious, seek and explore. The accent is on marriage and other crucial relationships for two more weeks. Be diplomatic, co-operative. Elevate another’s desires over your own. You certainly will have enough people to talk and interact with (through next August) which gives you plenty of opportunities to get to know someone; also, to nudge an attractive person closer to your heart. Your words could be a little harsh or too intense until (May 21-June 21) mid-January, so moderate this. Strictly avoid legal matters, lawyers and lawsuits, (May 21-June 21) same period. Chase money, buy/sell, seek new clients, Sunday to Tuesday – you “career intuition” is tops Sunday, and Tuesday’s stable. Take care Monday morning (PST) with driving, food intake. The two weeks ahead contain piles of chores, but they are also easy, smooth weeks, so charge ahead; you’ll get much done. This is also a splendid time to seek employment: you are likely to stumble into far more lucrative situations than you anticipate. (E.g., you might start what seems like an ordinary job, but you receive a promotion and pay raise within a short ( June 22-July 22) time. Or, you might see a way to do a job better/faster, and this could earn you a place on the winners’ board. This lucky money influence lasts to next August.) Your energy and charisma climb higher Sunday mid-morn to Tuesday eve. Go forth, see people, offer proposals, call in the markers of those who owe you, start significant (especially money-related) projects. Don’t seek co-operation Monday morning, though. Chase money, buy/sell, ask for a pay raise.
Home sweet home is your main refrain for the two easy, pleasant weeks ahead. This is nature’s “hibernation” phase for you. Care for your family, get plenty of rest, perform needed repairs at home, make a new diet or nutrition list. Various important chores are “building” or accumulating – but most of (Aug. 23 these are semi-hidden, so you might walk right by them (on the way to your afternoon Sept. 22) nap). There’s no danger here – in fact, you’re better off not doing too much now. Sunday morning to Tuesday eve bumps your popularity up a notch, brings a mood of celebration, you feel optimistic about the future. Issue and accept invitations – social delights are assured. The two easy, pleasant and friendly weeks ahead keep you busy with errands, paperwork, communications, short trips, and information gathering. You’ll be busy, but the stakes are low, so you won’t be (or shouldn’t be) stressed. (With you, relaxing is simply mental: envision your body, legs then (Sept. 23 -Oct. 23) stomach, then chest, then arms, etc., telling (Sept. 23 -Oct. 23) each one, in a quiet, determined thought: “Relax.” Say it until that leg, or arm, whatever, does relax.) An intense – though I won’t say lucky – romance might begin now to mid-January. Have fun, but DON’T commit your future to this person. Be ambitious Sunday to Tuesday eve – but take care Monday morning: _____________ Chase money, buy/sell, seek new clients, ask for a pay raise. Your money luck is smooth and fairly high during the two weeks ahead. Your career prospects rise even higher – to next August. This Wednesday to January 3, friends, affectionate talks, pleasant trips arise. Now to mid-January, your domestic scene might contain some friction – especially if you attempt repairs there (better not to). A gentle, loving mood flows (Oct. 24 - Nov. 21) over you Sunday to late day Tuesday. (Oct 24 Nov 21 Higher education, far travel, profound thoughts, cultural venues, publishing, law and insurance fill this interval. Speak, drive carefully Monday morning. This is a good interval to survey the world (when you do, your place becomes clearer, which later helps you in action).

Your energy, charisma, clout and effectiveness remain at a yearly high – take advantage, get going, start significant projects or approach “power people,” or someone you’re attracted to. You love to travel; if you go to any foreign country (now to next August) you’ll be well received, and lucky developments will occur. You often drive like a race-car operator: this might go to an extreme now to mid-January, so drive (Nov 22Dec 21) (Nov. 22 -Dec. 21 safely. Thursday begins three weeks of mild good money luck – a good time to buy luxury items, also. A sensual attraction might arise; decide whether you’d be bored in a year or two, or not. If not, this could be a marriageable link. Sunday through Tuesday brings mysteries, major financial opportunities. Continue to rest, lie low, contemplate and plan. Be charitable – this will rebound later as reward. Money will flow to you like a river until mid-January– bank it or pay down debt. An urge to spend could leave you poorer. Despite your weariness, Thursday to early January will heighten your allure. (Which is going to help Friday/Saturday, when romance (Dec 22.22.- Jan. Jan. 19) 19) could be in the air.) Sunday to Tuesday (Dec brings relationships – you communicate with t good people Sunday; Monday morn brings possible confrontation; Tuesday enhances your position. Tuesday night to pre-dawn Friday brings mysteries, secrets, investment and other financial opportunities, sexual urges, and health diagnoses. Be a detective, research. Be brave enough to commit: the consequences will please you! Life is a bowl of cherries! The two weeks ahead continue the optimism, popularity, social delights, fresh happiness, flirtations and wish fulfilment of the last two weeks – but you’re more assertive now (to mid-January). This can actually 1) drive some people away, or 2) cause you to form a friendship that could, in future, lead you into subtle traps. So, success lies in humility, diplomacy – but don’t (Jan. 20 -Feb. 19) lose your energetic friendliness, it’s your most (Jan. 20 -Feb. attractive feature. You might fall in love, perhaps lightly, with a chatty person – you admire this person’s aura, and their physical presence, but later you will admire their mind, too. (If single, if you wish to marry, this wish is very likely to come true – now, or any time to August.) ______________ Be ambitious. This week and next continue the emphasis on career, prestige relations, worldly status and reputation. Use and display your talents. This same influence might bring a meeting with authority (judge, cop, government mandarin) – but as both weeks are benevolent, smooth and (Feb. 20 -Mar. 20) rather easy, you should come from such a (Feb 20 Mar 20 meeting relatively unscathed. In fact, bosses and authorities favour you now – at least until Thursday. (Unless the meeting is Dec. 14 – Sunday next week – lie low, behave this night.) Now to mid-January, avoid belligerent people, dark alleys and biker bars – you’re physically vulnerable.

Helpless in Surrey Dear Helpless in Surrey: Your parents story is very sad but it’s very common here in British Columbia. I have heard so many stories like your family’s. Here in Canada the amount of abuse of seniors is increasing but most of the incidents are silently suffered by the seniors, the story rarely gets out. You need to help your parents, even if you can’t take them to live in your home. You need to help your parents understand that they don’t need to live this kind of life. First of all tell them not to give their pension to anyone. That’s for them and their living expenses. If their sons and daughter-in-laws don’t want them in the house then they can either rent one of the son’s basement and move in there and pay them the rent or get a basement suite some where else. If that doesn’t work then you can get them a basement suite near your home so that they are close by and you can help them with whatever they need. There are solutions, you just need to look for those solutions. In the meantime help your parents to understand how necessary it is that they not take this kind of abuse. Good Luck.

Winter Emergency Kit 2.0 scraper, booster cables and road salt, motorists today should consider adding several other items to their vehicle emergency kit this winter. “A regular emergency kit for summer may include staples such as a first aid kit,” she says. “But as weather conditions change dramatically in the winter, assembling a next-level kit is all part of being prepared.” The Visibility Factor (NC) Canadians know that winter driving can be summed up in one word: Preparation. But what does being prepared include? According to Lacey Elliott, car expert and spokesperson for autoTRADER.ca, aside from the requisite items such as a snowbrush and ice
Needing to pull over to the side of the road during the winter, especially during whiteout conditions, means making yourself as visible as possible. Elliott says this means that an absolute must-have in your winter emergency kit are road flares or high-visibility roadside triangles that will signal your distress to other drivers. “Many accidents occur as
passers-by simply do not see your vehicle pulled over until it's too late,” she says. Portable Power Cell phones are indispensable in an emergency, but if your phone battery is fading fast and your car battery is itself dead or dying and unable to charge it, your phone won't be of much use. “A portable power pack that's sold in many consumer electronic stores is a good idea to have in-hand,” Elliott says. “The ability to charge your phone, even without the aid of your car, is worth its weight in gold if you're stuck roadside during the winter.”
The Blanket Solution Elliott says an extra set of clothes— especially wool socks, gloves and a warm toque—in which to keep warm is also advisable, should you find yourself stuck in the cold waiting for help. If space is an issue, another option is to include an emergency blanket, which are thin and metallic—not unlike the ones used to keep marathon runners warm post-race. “They don't take up much room in your trunk and might just save the day in frigid conditions.” www.newscanada.com

(NC) With Old Man Winter well on the way, motorists will again be faced with a slew of potential dangers as they navigate Canadian roads. But according to autoTRADER.ca spokesperson and car expert Lacey Elliott, checking off three things when it comes to winter driving can greatly help reduce the chances of weather-related collisions. “For even the most veteran drivers, getting behind the wheel in snowy and icy conditions means needing to pay all the more attention to what's happening around your vehicle,” Elliott says. “The risk factors go up, but the good news is that, by taking the proper steps, winter driving is absolutely manageable, even enjoyable for motorists.” Elliott says her top pointers on

staying collision-free during what are sometimes treacherous winter months revolve around the need for preparedness. “You can often get away with a few things in the summer that are simply not the case when it comes to winter,” she says. Tires are tops Installing winter tires on your vehicle should no longer be debatable, Elliott says. As winter tires are made of a softer compound than summer and allseason tires, they are able to grip their way through ice and snow much more effectively, enabling stopping distances that can mean the difference between fender bender or a safe stop. Make sure to get all four tires changed, and ideally before the first snowfall, as service centres and dealerships get extra busy and wait times become longer. Visibility rules “If you can't see, you can't drive,” Elliott says. “It's a simple as that.” For motorists, this means clearing snow and ice off as much of the windshield and windows as possible, as well as the hood and trunk, and being extra careful not to forget the all-important side mirrors. “A good ice scraper & brush is essential in the winter, and need not be expensive, but something that will last the season.” Make time to take time Elliott says her most important rule of winter driving is to leave as much time as possible before heading out on the roads. “One thing I tell people is to double the amount of time they think they need to get to their destination. So if it normally takes 30 minutes during regular conditions, give yourself an hour in the winter. You won't be pressed to speed and your state of mind behind the wheel will improve immensely.” www.newscanada.com

Sartaj to make his debut with Hollywood film, 'The Black Prince' political genius, brave, loveable, charming and emotional man. And getting an opportunity to play the same inspiring character led me into this film. Why straight away Hollywood? why not Bollywood? It wasn't about Bollywood or Hollywood or even Pollywood as a matter of fact. I have received numerous offers from Bollywood and Punjabi cinema! But none of them touched my heart. I was never convinced to be a part of any film until now. And when I received the offer for 'The Black Prince' I felt yes! This is it. I said yes to the film without looking at script. How did the 'The Black Prince' happen? As I earlier said I was not willing to do any film which I did not connect with. 'The Dark Prince' happened in the matter of timing and commitment. Why did you pick an Epic flick to make a debut? like most of the stars might opt for a
By Sunaina Rana The popular Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj is all set to make his movie debut with a Hollywood Film. Apparently, the film is based on the last King of Punjab, Maharaja Duleep Singh, 'The Black Prince'. The film has been directed by Kavi Raz and produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners. The bilingual film is a tale about the tragic yet enchanting journey of the last king of Punjab Maharaja Duleep Singh. At SantaBanta.com we bring you an exclusive tete-atete with the star of 'The Black Prince' Satinder Sartaj. What is the motivation behind this quantum leap? I am always been a keen lover of Heritage and History., Maharajah Duleep Singh is our last king and I feel disheartened that no one till date has take the initiative to narrate his side of the story. Else hs has been projected as mere tragic figure in our Punjab History. Maharaja Duleep Singh was an intelligent,
commercial movie to make a debut? Commerce does not hold any such importance in my life it stands at secondary position. My whole carrier is not based on commercial aspects. I do what I like and what is good for the society. I did not want to enter Cinema with light and antisocial film. The Black Prince is the story of the last Sikh Maharaja Duleep Singh, how do you perceive yourself in that character? I can actually relate to the character, and I did not see much difference, as a matter of fact everyone around felt I really gel into this character. And I also feel the same. Any last word for the fans? I have received a lot of love from my fans across the world and I believe that they would continue doing the same. Whereas, I hope to fulfill their wish by giving them a worthwhile film. Santa Banta
Bollywood sequels to look forward to in 2015 Kick: If reports are to be believed, a sequel to Sajid Nadiadwala's blockbuster hit of the year, Kick, is already underway. According to a report in DNA, Sajid Nadiadwala has registered the title Devil which implies that talks of a sequel are on. A source has been quoted in the report as saying that Sajid Nadiadwala was very happy to the response that the 'Devil' song garnered and post rumours that the sequel would be called Devil, Sajid thought it would be apt to register the title. However, the source also insists that Sajid is quite busy
with his production ventures what with Saif-Katrina's Phantom, Ranbir-Deepika's Tamasha, Varun-John-Jacqueline's Dhishoom, Tiger Shroff's next and Akshay-Abhishek-Riteish's Housefull 3, all lined up for release in the 2015 and 2016. In such a situation, it would be impossible for the filmmaker to direct a film. Salman too has many films in his kitty to be able to allot dates to the sequel. The source hence speculates that the film can only go on the floors after two years. Don: When the Shah Rukh Khanstarrer Don 2 hit
theatres in 2011, the film’s director Farhan Akhtar told a section of the media, “I need a break from action films. As a director, it’s my right to explore different things.” Three years after that dismissal, Farhan is returning to direction and the genre with the third part of the Don franchise. And SRK will again lead the cast. Confirming this, Farhan’s business partner, Ritesh Sidhwani said:“How can I do Don without Don? SRK is Don and Don is SRK.”The film has been in the works for some time and buzz is that Farhan, Ritesh and their team have already
completed almost 50 per cent of the script. Mirror has it that the actor had several meetings with Farhan and Ritesh during a short break after the release of Chennai Express in 2013. He has since met the duo several more times to fine tune the modalities of for the third instalment of the commercially successful franchise. However the film’s leading lady has not yet been cast. Priyanka Chopra had toplined the cast in the first two instalments. Welcome: After the success of Welcome (2007), director Anees Bazmee is all set to direct the film's sequel, Welcome Back. While the original starred Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, Mallika Sherawat and Feroz Khan, Welcome Back will also be a multi-starrer with a stellar star cast that includes the likes of John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia and Shruti Haasan, to name a few. Welcome Back is slated for a January 23 release. Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor are expected to reprise their roles of Uday Shankar Shetty and Majnu Bhai from the original and the music for this film has been composed by Anu Malik and Anand Raj Anand. OMG - Oh My God!: Umesh Shukla's 2012 release, OMG – Oh My God! is slated to have a sequel. This satirical comedy has been adapted from the Gujarati play Kanji Virudh Kanji. Based on the concept of blind faith in God and how a common man dares to sue Him, the film did extremely well at the box-office, which is probably why the makers are gearing-up for a sequel which is expected to release on February 15. According to a report on bollywoodhungama.com, actors Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar will coproduce the sequel.
