Think Twice Before Taking That Sexy Selfie By Joanna Douglas How much time did you spend taking your last selfie? Turns out, you’d be better off devoting that time to something else. A new study published by Oregon State University found that ladies who post sexy or revealing photos are viewed as less physically and socially attractive than women who spend their time doing, well, anything else. Turns out, their female peers go so far as to consider the selfie-taking women as being less capable of performing tasks. The study enlisted 108 females aged 13 to 25 to critique and rate selfies based on if they found the sub-
jects to be attractive, worthy of being a friend, or competent at completing a job. Are you surprised that not sexy photos scored higher in all three areas? We’re not. While stars like Beyonce or Kim Kardashian make the sexy selfie game look normal, it’s not. “There is so much pressure on teen girls and young women to portray themselves as sexy, but sharing those sexy photos online may have more negative consequences than positive,” said researcher and assistant psychology professor Elizabeth Daniels in the Psychology of Popular Media Culture journal. Her new article called “The price of sexy: Viewers’ perceptions of a sexualized versus non-sexualized Facebook pro-
file photo” sheds light on these findings, saying that young women are in a “nowin” situation when it comes to sexy selfies. Daniels says while their female peers view girls negatively for posting them, they’ll lose out on male attention—not to mention potential likes and followers—if they don’t. It all boils down to the same oft-asked question: “Why is it we focus so heavily on girls’ appearances?” Daniels adds, “What does this tell us about gender? Those conversations should be part of everyday life. We need to understand what [young women] are doing online and how that affects their self-concept and their self-esteem.” Continued on page 05

Surrey Gurdwara removes president after attempted murder charge
July 14 and had originally faced charges of aggravated assault in connection to a domestic dispute on July 13. Those charges were later upgraded to attempted murder. Meanwhile, Kalsi did not appear in Surrey provincial court on Wednesday as
expected, as he sustained injuries from an assault that happened while in custody at Surrey Pretrial Centre Tuesday evening. Surrey RCMP advises of an assault that occurred on Tuesday evening at a local correctional facility said RCMP’s Sgt. Dale Carr in his press release. “Police do not believe the incident is linked to Kalsi's involvement in the ongoing homicide investigation, say Sgt Carr. On July 15th at approximately 8:30pm, Surrey RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault on an inmate at Surrey Pretrial Services Centre (14323 57th Avenue). Upon attendance, officers learned that a 66 year old male victim Baldev KALSI was taken to local hospital suffering from facial injuries, however, is
expected to make a full recovery. Officers identified a 42 year male inmate as a possible suspect and are continuing their investigation. Surrey RCMP's Serious Crime Unit is investigating this matter. This incident does not appear to be linked to the victim's involvement in an ongoing attempted murder investigation (led by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team) which occurred on July 13th in Surrey. A two-day prayer is planned at the temple, beginning on July 18 at 8 a.m. and ending on July 20 at 8 a.m, for Kalsi's wife Narinder. The temple is located at 8365 140th St. in Surrey.

Radio India’s MD Maninder Gill pleads not guilty New Westminster: A high profile businessman , Radio India’s owner has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and weapons offences related to a shooting incident that took place on August 28th, 2010. The crown alleges that Maninder Gill, fired the gun in August 2010 which hit Harjit Singh Atwal in the leg. There were about 1,000 people at the temple on 120 Street and 70 Avenue when gunshots rang out between noon and 1 p.m. the court was told. Both Gill and Atwal were attending the wedding as guests. Sukhpreet Singh Heir, a Canada Border Services Agency officer and the Master of Ceremonies at the 2010 wedding taking place at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Surrey, testified via video link from Britain on day two of trial. According to Heir’s testimony, just moments before the wedding came to a close, he introduced Gill to the crowd to deliver a speech. Heir told court, once the ceremony wrapped up some time after noon and he was getting ready to leave the temple, he “heard some screams” coming from the parking lot from which he “saw people running.” As he moved toward the scene, he noticed Gill, “walking with the gun at his side,” Heir testified, adding that the
gun was “very distinctive” with a round cylinder and long barrel. He also noticed a woman walking alongside him, whom he believed was trying to calm him down. “[Gill] appeared aggravated in nature — the way he was walking,” said Heir. Heir say he then saw shooting victim Harjit Atwal, lying on the ground as a crowd of people gathered around him to help with a wound on his upper left leg. As Heir tried to see which direction Gill had gone with the gun, he What’s in your noticed a white Mercedes take off from the temple, but said he didn’t see if Gill was in it. whether he was aware of the ongoing dispute between Gill and Atwal — the former having filed a civil suit against Gill for alleged defamatory remarks made on Radio India — Heir told the court he was “slightly aware” of it through “community gossip.” Atwal was later called to stand for cross-examination, by Gill’s lawyer. Atwal was grilled by the defence lawyer Richard Peck on the finer details of that hot summer day, like timing and locations. Atwal got very agitated. “I’m common man,” Atwal said defensively, while insisting he can’t recall precise details. “I was shot and that was that.” At the start of the 10 day trial, court heard from Harjit Singh Atwal that hostility had been brewing between the two parties, Radio India’s MD, Maninder

Gill and Harjit Singh Atwal in the months leading up to an August, 2010 shooting at a wedding at the Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Temple. Harjit Singh Atwal told court that he’s known Gill since 1985, but they were not on speaking terms at the wedding because he had filed a civil suit against Gill the previous May for allegedly defaming his family on the radio. Atwal, now recovered from his injuries, testified that there had been bad blood between the two men in the months leading up to the incident. The court also heard there had been two altercations between Gill and Atwal once in April and at another time at Vaisakhi parade in 2010. “He said so much against my family on the radio,” Atwal told the Crown. “After (that) I never talk to him.” Gill is facing seven charges in connection to the incident. The charges include possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, aggravated assault, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure, two counts of pointing a firearm and unlawfully discharging a firearm on Aug. 28, 2010. The trial is expected to run until July 25 and hear from a number of witnesses, including Gill.
Letter to the Editor July 17th, 2014 Dear Editor, On the second weekend of July, the President of the Gurdwara Sahib Brookside, Baldev Kalsi was charged with aggravated assault, which left his wife, Narinder Kalsi, in critical condition and on life support. She was airlifted to the hospital from their South Surrey home due to life threating injuries. The crimes Mr. Kalsi is being accused are horrific and should be absolutely shunned by society. As a leader, Mr. Kalsi should have acted in a much more responsible manner, and given his significant impact in our community, he should be aware of his stature as a role model. The actions that Mr. Kalsi takes do not simply affect him personally - they impact our entire community and the individuals that look up to him. At PICS Society and other agencies, there are programs in place to help those affected by domestic abuse and violence. As a community, we’re working hard to fight against domestic abuse and address the root causes, however incidents like these only make moving forward more difficult. Sincerely, Charan Gill CEO PICS Society

Is organic chicken worth the price? By Mitch Lipka -Just because a chicken is labeled "organic" does not mean that the bird on your plate lived a bucolic farm life before you cooked it. To officially be called "organic," the animal must be fed organic food (grown with no pesticides), receive no antibiotics and be given access to the outdoors. While a whole, generic store-brand chicken typically costs about $1.50 per pound, the price for organic chicken is $2.69 a pound at Trader Joe's, the U.S. grocery chain, and $4.99 per pound from online grocer Fresh Direct. Whole Foods sells boneless, skinless organic chicken breasts for $8.99 per pound. And it's not unusual to pay more than $10 per pound for similar organic chicken breasts at upscale butcher shops. So what's behind the cost of organic chicken? Are you getting what you think you are paying a premium for?
DECIPHERING LABELS Beyond the label "organic," chicken packages that purport to be more natural than ordinary chicken could carry any of the following terms: natural, antibioticfree, farm-raised, fresh, cage-free, hormone-free and free-range. The U.S. Department of Agriculture imposed some rules on the use of these terms. However, the range of possibilities is broad, and the various distinctions can be "bastardized," says Ariane Daguin, founder of D'Artagnan, a high-end meat company. It's one thing to have "free-range" chickens living in a crowded pen with a small, open gate, and quite another to have a spacious environment with considerable outdoor access for the birds,
she says. That's because some of the label terms are of little value to consumers. * "Natural" means there are no artificial ingredients or preservatives. That claim can be made for most chicken sold at grocery stores. * "Hormone-free" has even less meaning since hormones are not legally allowed in poultry. Same goes for "farmraised," since just about every chicken sold is raised on a farm. * "Antibiotic-free" has significance to those who are concerned about consuming an animal treated with antibiotics. An organic chicken cannot be treated with antibiotics. * "Fresh" means the chicken has never been cooled below 26 degrees Fahrenheit (-3 degrees Celsius). * "Free-range" is taken by many to mean that the chickens roam free in a pasture, but legally it just means they have access to the outside.
IS IT BETTER?
C Consider onsider a ccareer areer in b ookkeeping. bookkeeping.
While some consumers say organic chicken is healthier and tastes better, that's not necessarily true. The taste issue, in particular, can be hard to discern. It's easy to distinguish organic milk from non-organic milk. Grass-fed beef stands out in particular among connoisseurs. Chicken, however, is harder to be snooty about. "You have to have one outrageous palate to distinguish between an organic bird and another bird," says Dallas-based chef Otto Borsich. Judging by looks might be the hardest part. Non-organic chicken will actually often look plumper because those chickens are fed a diet maximized for growth, Borsich says. And any chicken, organic or not, that is processed with water may end up retaining some, which will add to the price and diminish the taste. The key to avoiding that is to look for chicken marked as "air-chilled," Daguin says.
IS IT HEALTHIER? As for the health issue, there is room for debate. A Stanford University study found no obvious health benefit to eating organic. On the other hand, the study didn't dismiss the strong feelings many organic consumers have about avoiding antibiotics and pesticide residue. "Whether organics are worth the price difference depends on whether you think it's important to have food raised with fewer pesticides and no antibiotics. I do," says Marion Nestle, a U.S. food expert and professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University. "Taste is also personal. I think organic chicken tastes better. It should. They have to be cared for more carefully to survive not being treated with antibiotics." Following the lead of Nestle and other food experts, more healthconscious consumers are digging into their wallets to buy organic food.
According to the Organic Trade Association, U.S. sales of organic poultry, beef and fish rose 11 percent in 2013. Yet organic chicken still only accounts for less than 1 percent of overall market share in a $30 billion industry, according to the Washington-based National Chicken Council. For some consumers, the price differential for organic chicken seems to be worth it - even if the reasons are intangible. Reuters

Better labelling would be sweet People would have an easier time fighting obesity and choosing healthy foods if they could tell from product labels just how much added sugar there is in the food they buy. It can truly be a staggering amount. The website myfitnesspal.com lists 257 types of sugars that manufacturers add to foods, ingredients whose names are difficult to even recognize as sugar, such as barley malt, brown rice syrup, Diatase, inulin and Malitsorb, to name just a few. So it’s good to know Health Canada wants to change food labels so people know exactly what they’re getting and how much. Under Health Canada’s proposal, nutrition labels on packaged foods

They said it was a matter of serious concern that the Sikh’s main temporal institution was losing credibility. AGPC President J S Hothi and Coordinator Dr.Pritpal Singh said in a joint statement that they would invite the Sikh intellectuals from all over the world to take part in the conclave to discuss the matter. ``One such conclave will be organized in USA and another in India to deliberate the issue of independence and autonomy of the institution of Akal

Dr.Pritpal Singh who also reacted strongly to the role of Akal Takht in the matter relating constitution of the new Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said that Takht should not have played to the tune of certain political lines. He said Akal Takht belongs to the whole Sikh Panth and it should be above political affiliations. “All the issues relating how institution of the Akal Takht can be strengthened and its independent role ensured in Sikh affairs would be discussed in details in the Conclave,’’ said Dr.Pritpal Singh. How dengue virus suppresses human immune system revealed A new study has revealed a new pathway the dengue virus takes to suppress the human immune system. According to the study by Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore (Duke-NUS), when a virus enters the body and infects cells, it induces the production and release of interferons (IFNs), which are proteins that raise the bodies' anti-viral defense mechanisms. The dengue virus enters the cell and produces large quantities of a noncoding, highly-structured viral RNA termed sfRNA, which is part of the genetic material of the dengue virus.
The scientists found that sfRNA attaches itself to G3BP1, G3BP2 and CAPRIN1, proteins in the cell that typically help in producing antiviral proteins in response to IFNs, because of which, the cell is unable to mount its antiviral defenses and protect itself against virus replication. These findings highlight new steps that regulate our immune response, and in the case of dengue, how the virus has learnt how to avoid these defenses. It also highlights the differences between the four dengue strains and how more research is needed to understand this highly complex virus.

Malaysian plane was shot down by missile, US official says WASHINGTON (AP) — A US official said that American intelligence authorities now believe a surface-to-air missile took down the Malaysian passenger plane as it flew over eastern Ukraine Thursday. The official said the US was still working to determine additional details about the crash, including who fired the missile and whether it came from the Russian or Ukraine side of the border. But the official said US intelligence assessments suggest it is more likely proRussian separatists or the Russians rather than Ukrainian government forces shot down the plane. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity. The US has sophisticated technologies that can detect missile launches, including the identification of heat from the rocket engine. The plane carrying 295 people was shot down over eastern Ukraine on Thursday, Ukrainian officials said, and both the government and the pro-Russia separatists fighting in the region denied any responsibility for downing the aircraft. Malaysia’s prime minister said the jetliner did not make any distress call before it went down, and that the flight route was declared safe by the International Civil Aviation Organization. Prime Minister Najib Razak told reporters that Ukrainian authorities believe the Boeing 777, on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down. He said that Malaysia, however, is unable to verify ‘‘the cause of this tragedy but we must, and we will, find

out precisely what happened to this flight. Russian President Vladmir Putin said Ukraine bears responsibility for the crash. A Kremlin statement early Friday said Putin opened a meeting with his economic advisers by calling for a moment of silence over the crash. Then, he said, ‘‘This tragedy would not have happened if there were peace on this land, if the military actions had not been renewed in southeast Ukraine. And, certainly, the state over whose territory this occurred bears responsibility for this awful tragedy.’’ US Vice President Joe Biden said the incident was ‘‘not an accident’’ and described the plane as having been ‘‘blown out of the sky.’’ However, Biden cautioned that the US was still seeking details about the cause of the crash and reports that there were American
citizens aboard the plane. At least 154 people on the flight were Dutch citizens, said Huib Gorter, Malaysian Airlines senior vice president in Europe. There were also 27 Australians on board, 23 Malaysians, including all 15 crew, and 11 Indonesians. Other nationalities so far identified were six passengers from the United Kingdom, four from Germany, four Belgians, three from the Philippines and one Canadian. There are still 47 dead whose nationalities haven’t yet been confirmed, he added. As plumes of black smoke rose up near a rebel-held village of Hrabove, an Associated Press journalist counted at least 22 bodies at the wreckage site 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Russian border.
The sudoku puzzle is mostly a 9-by9 grid made up of 3-by-3 subgrids. Some cells already contain numbers, known as givens. The goal is to fill in the empty cells, one number in each, so that each column, row, and region contains the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once. Each number in the solution therefore occurs only once. in each of three "directions". Or you can say there is only one rule. Every row, every column and every 3-by-3 subgrid should contain digits 1 to
Kimye’s honeymoon details leaked Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Irish honeymoon details, which were secret till now, has been revealed in a leaked email. The email revealed that the hottest newlyweds had wholesome honeymoon demands like DVDs, a huge TV, Netflix, extra bedding, a pack of playing cards, a hot tub placed on standby, candles be lit before arrival and even an alternative property in case the famous couple disliked their first choice, the Mirror reported. They even asked for the national flag of Ireland to be flying from Castle Olivier (in County Cork) upon their

Surrey RCMP plans facility expansion Surrey: The RCMP in Surrey plans to expand their office. Surrey RCMP says the Police Committee endorsed the Surrey RCMP’s use of the south tower of the former City Hall building (14245 56th Avenue) to accommodate its growing detachment. Surrey RCMP will continue to occupy its main detachment (14355 57th Avenue) and five district offices while this additional space will provide for the continuing expansion of the Surrey RCMP. The utilization of the former City Hall building will allow the Surrey RCMP to meet current and future space requirements, and will provide

B.C. Liberals reward top staffers with pay increases far beyond the settlement “zone” VICTORIA – While the B.C. Liberal government tells teachers there is no more money, they are more than happy to hand out hefty pay raises to their top political staff far beyond what they characterize as the settlement “zone”, say the New Democrats. “The fact that the B.C. Liberals are handing out significant pay increases to a number of their top political staff while telling teachers they have to bargain within the settlement zone is complete hypocrisy,” said New Democrat education critic Rob Fleming. “The finance minister made a big deal about executive compensation breaches at the Royal B.C. Museum and the B.C. Cancer Agency, but he has nothing to say about these substantial increases in the offices of B.C. Liberal ministers.” According to public disclosure documents on compensation released this week, more than six deputy ministers received pay raises of more than six per cent in 2013/2014, including Premier Clark’s personal friend and former deputy minister of Government Communications and Public Engagement, Athana Mentzelopoulos. Mentzelopoulos, who
was responsible for signing off on the government’s education advertising campaign, saw her salary rise from $217,435 to $248,782 – a 14.4-per-cent increase. Fleming noted that also topping the list were Lynda Tarras, deputy minister of the Public Service Agency, who received a salary increase of 10.65 per cent to $203,512, and Timothy McEwan, associate deputy minister at the Major Investments Office, who was bumped up by 9.15 per cent to $201,480. “The Liberal finance minister refuses to look at more money for a fair deal for teachers by saying it is out of line with other public sector contracts,” said Fleming. “Yet his government goes and rewards its own staff with pay increases far in excess of that range. How is that not out of line?” “The B.C. Liberals have already cost our kids the end of their school year with a strong possibility this strike will carry into September,” said Fleming. “It’s time they stop saying one thing to teachers while doing another for their political friends, and start negotiating in good faith.”
proximity to the main detachment. In addition, co-location with the Crown Counsel offices, Community Corrections, courthouse, and Pre-Trial will provide for a “Justice Precinct” service centre model and an enhanced relationship among Surrey’s justice partners. “I am very pleased that we have been able to secure this space from the city which will provide us with the additional space we need to accommodate our operations, support services and training,” says Chief Superintendent Bill Fordy, Officer in Charge of the Surrey RCMP. “Community policing is a cornerstone of our service delivery model and this is certainly not a move away from that model as our five district offices will continue to be a central part of our policing strategy. We are fully committed to having a continued, robust presence in each Surrey community as I believe that is the most effective and efficient way to respond to the needs of this large and growing city.”
Has Elton John finally announced retirement from music? London : Elton John has announced at a festival in France that he will retire from his music career as he wants to spend more time with his sons. The 67-year-old musician has twice said he wanted to retire first in 1977 and again in 2010 when he said he was “too old to be a pop star”, the Mirror reported. In 2012, the Brit singer said that he wanted to be around to take his son Zachary, to school and pick him up. A spokesman for the singer, who had 40 more shows lined up this year in America and Europe, said that John was only joking. (ANI)
Man Sets House on Fire Trying to Kill Spider A man almost burned down his house in order to kill a spider with the lighter and spray paint. According to Kiro7, Seattle fire fighters managed to control the blazes at a house in the west of the city but not before it caused 60,000 dollars worth of damage, the Mirror reported. Fire officials said the man’s unusual method caused a wall to catch fire, which quickly spread through the house. Neighbors were warned to return to their houses as fire crews investigated reports of ammunition in the house, but this was later ruled out.
Microsoft announces biggest-ever job cut, to lay off up to 18,000 Microsoft has announced its biggest job cut ever, reducing the size of its overall workforce by up to 18,000 jobs by 2015. Of the total layoffs, about 12,500 Nokia Devices and Services employees would be given pink slips. These employees would comprise of both professional and factory workers. In a letter to Microsoft employees, CEO Satya Nadella said the cuts are part of the company's efforts to realign its workforce and move towards being a productivity and platform company. He said that the company is
moving now to start reducing the first 13,000 positions, and that "the vast majority of employees whose jobs will be eliminated, will be notified over the next six months." Nadella assured that the layoffs will be carried out in a thoughtful and transparent way. He also informed employees that Microsoft will offer severance to all employees impacted by these changes, as well as job transition assistance in a large number of locations.

B.C.'s record-high debt shows Clark taking province in wrong direction - Brooks KAMLOOPS, The Public Accounts for 2013/14, released this morning in Victoria, demonstrate conclusively that British Columbia's finances have deteriorated badly under Premier Christy Clark says Dan Brooks, Leader of the BC Conservatives. "When Christy Clark moved into the Premier's office in the spring of 2011, B.C.'s total provincial debt represented 88.5 per cent of the government's annual revenues," Brooks said. "That number has grown every year she's been in office and now, at the end of her third year as Premier, the Public Accounts show that our total provincial debt has exploded to
107.7 per cent of yearly income, says Brooks. "Clearly, British Columbia's mounting debt is becoming increasingly difficult to service," he said, "as it would take nearly 13 months of revenues - with nothing spent on health care, education or any other public service - to pay off our financial obligations." Brooks also pointed out that at 107.7 per cent of annual revenues, the province's debt
has reached a level that is higher than at any time in the 1990s under New Democratic Party governments. "The Premier often refers to the horrible fiscal performance of the NDP between 1991 and 2001, but the highest that B.C.'s total debt rose under Mike Harcourt and Glen Clark was 103.1 per cent of revenues in 1999," said Brooks. "It is astounding - and alarming - that B.C.'s fiscal performance under Christy Clark is even worse than it was during the decade when the NDP mismanaged our province."
How much sugar is really in that? Ottawa proposes food label changes The federal government says proposed changes to food labels should make it more clear how much sugar is in packaged food. Among the changes, Health Canada says both total sugars and added sugars would be required information on nutrition tables. And suggested serving sizes would be more consistent among similar foods. Health Minister Rona Ambrose made the announcement Monday at an Edmonton grocery store. She hopes the changes will make it easier for people to make healthy choices. "We heard repeatedly from
parents that they understand there are natural sugars in many things that their kids eat, food like fruit, of course. But they also want to know how much sugar is added to foods," Ambrose told a news conference. "Parents want to know how much sugar is being added
in total to their children's cereal, for example ... Whether it's molasses or brown sugar, all types of sugars will be grouped together. This makes the label much more transparent and allows shoppers to quickly see how much added sugars are in a food, compared to other ingredients." She said there will be a series of online, public consultations on the proposals. The consultations are to run until Sept. 11. The Canadian Press
LiLo trips at gala dinner in Italy
London : Lindsay Lohan recently suffered an embarrassing slip-up at a film and music festival gala dinner in Italy. The 28-year-old actress managed to hold up well at the event in her silver flapper dress and silver heels, the Mirror reported. However, Li Lo was snapped at the precise moment when she hit the deck. Lindsay has been in London to start rehearsals for gritty stage play ‘The Plow’ and apparently promised earlier that there would not be any sick days. (ANI)
Apple to pay 450 million dollars in U.S. e-book lawsuit Washington, Apple will pay an amount of 450 million dollars as a result of a U.S. lawsuit against it that said that the company had increased the price of e-books. An amount of 400 dollars could go back to the consumers, said reports. New York Attorney General Schneiderman said that even the biggest companies had to follow the same rules as others, reports the Verge. He further said that they would work to ensure that no company got involved in unfair means and that no company
was above law. Apple is reportedly still waiting for an appeal and they believe that they did nothing wrong as they never conspired to raise the e-book prices. (ANI)

Some rather drastic changes could be taking place this week that should make things a lot easier for you in the future. Whatever you are giving up will be (Mar.2121- April April 19) 19) (Mar. replaced by something much better. This is the time when a few favors, political or otherwise, are paid back to you. You have been waiting for this landfall and now it is finally coming your way. Make sure this landfall is put to prompt and very good use to help your finances. The trouble or problems you have been experiencing lately are over a planet which is about to change signs (about time) to a much better aspect for you. You will be able to make successful changes starting this next week so please get ready to make your move into action. Plans you have kept (Apr. 20- may 20) to yourself may be implemented the end of this month or even into next month. Bide your time because the event it is about to happen to you.
Now is an excellent time to get yourself and your affairs organized. It appears to be a good time to seek out any favors you may (July 23-Aug 22) need or are owed by others. Some sort of (July 23-Aug 22) “breakthrough” can be made now and you romance. You hav Someone else yo could break some sort of record by using new methods and techniques. Try those new techniques as they may work better than you thought. You can finally relax now that pesky planet is now leaving your sign.
Get all of your important projects done and out of the way this week if you want them to be successful. Next week a planet changes signs and may cause you some problems. Pay close attention as you are not ready for any more problems. Right now you can seek and receive favors and help, especially (Nov 22Dec 21) (Nov. 22 -Dec. 21 political ones. You could even make some sort of breakthrough or set a record by using unique methods. Give them a try! They work!
Clear the decks this week because a planet will move into your sign next week and that means you will be very busy for the next six weeks. This warning will help you to be prepared! You are now keeping all your (Aug. 23 plans and ideas a secret until you see how Sept. 22) everything works out and if you will earn the extra money you want and need from all your hard work.
Wait only one more week or so to initiate any changes you want to or desire to make. After that, success is yours. Some of those opposing you now may even join in to help you out. In September you will have great (Dec 22.22.- Jan. Jan. 19) 19) luck and get just what you want so (Dec t meanwhile you must have patience and believe in yourself. Your hard work will prove to eventually pay off. This will increase not only your status, but also your lack of funding.
Endings are happening now for you but it is just as well. These are fated endings as a new door cannot be opened by or for you until the old doors are closed and situations have been put to an end. This can be a very emotional period for you so do not be so (May 21-June 21) surprised because if the truth be known, (May 21-June 21) you must admit that you have seen it coming for a very long time. Just make sure you have prepared yourself very well for this event.
The ending of the affair or friendship in which you were involved was the proper thing to do at this time. It could be seen coming but you hesitated to end it for some reason or other. Now that it is over and in (Sept. 23 -Oct. 23) the past, a new door can open for you (Sept. 23 -Oct. 23) shortly that will prove to be so very interesting. Finish up any left over projects this week while you still have the will and energy to still be successful. Those new methods just might work.
You seem to be making some drastic changes now that you have thought about for a long time. The changes, whatever they are not even agreeable to you. However, those changes turn out for the best in the long run. It is not the (Jan. 20 -Feb. 19) time for a new relationship no matter how (Jan. 20 -Feb. much you are attracted to someone. It can harm you in the future. Draw upon your past experiences as a reminder. Your will be thankful for that past experience. ______________ This week can be a little difficult for you and all those around you. It can be an emotional time as a close relationship is breaking up. It should take you by surprise (Feb. 20 -Mar. 20) since you did not see this coming. (Feb 20 Mar 20 However, Pisces people are the must tolerant and adaptive of all of the signs so you may go right out and find a new, better and more stable relationship.
Your income should be picking up starting around mid week and continues through September or early fall. You are keeping your plans and ideas to yourself for now and will not reveal them to others until ( June 22-July 22) around the last week of this month or so. If you are looking for a new relationship, you can be successful after next week, so be on the lookout. Good hunting, as there are relationships out there just waiting to be snagged by you.
Dear SOS
_______________
Your social life is about to pick up this week. And starting next week there should be some extra money in your pocket. Plans you have already made should turn out to your benefit as planets are about to change to a more favorable aspect to your (Oct. 24 - Nov. 21) sign. By the end of August or early (Oct 24 Nov 21) September you should be very successful in your endeavor. This endeavor should more than you had planned on. It will turn out a resounding success.

smile. Did you know that an uninhibited smile not only makes us look more attractive, it is also a gift? When you smile, others smile back and that is synergy for mutual stress reduction, relationship building, health improvement and longevity. Wearing a smile is such an effective accessory it's no wonder the current fashion trends include an oral care regimen that includes the whitening and brightening of teeth. “Smiling is one of our most important social assets, so it's not surprising that we strive for long-term oral health and the desire for whiter teeth,” says Christopher Ludmer, marketing manager in the Philips

consumer lifestyle division. “Professional whitening products and related technology have evolved dramatically in recent years to produce the Philips Zoom line – and now there is almost universal satisfaction with the results.” If, for example, you want to have a radiant smile on a special day, be sure to prepare in advance. Contact a dental office first to discuss the options. One of them is a light-activated whitening system called WhiteSpeed, a method that can whiten even sensitive teeth up to eight shades in just 45 minutes. Ludmer points out that light technology is a Philips expertise and the process delivers 40 per cent better results than any comparable non-light whitening system. Or, there is a system of Zoom gels you can apply at home. This option includes the DayWhite treatment if you have two or three weeks – or the NiteWhite gel can transform your smile in less than one week. “These specialized gels are the only two whitening products for home-use in which the efficiency has been proven by clinical studies,” Ludmer explains. “The formula not only whitens your teeth, it also reduces sensitivity, and protects the enamel.” Or, for the times when you just can't plan ahead, ask for the Zoom whitening pen during an annual dental checkup. Designed to be slipped discreetly into a purse or pocket, the pen allows you, at any given moment, to touch up a few spots of your pearly whites. News Canada

Create an outdoor oasis. How you decorate your outdoor table will set the tone for your gathering. Choose bright and colourful summer plates, along with pots of fresh flowers and outdoor candles to add simple style and ambience to your atmosphere. Even simple decor items like jewel-toned throw pillows on your patio furniture or napkins with bright and fun designs can have a huge impact. Try barbecuing fish. Serving up fresh fish on the barbecue is a great alternative to the typical burgers and hot dogs and will be sure to excite your crowd. Plus it gets you out of the kitchen and outdoors spending time with friends and family. Try grilling the new PC Lake Pickerel with some fresh herbs. Pair it with a fresh fennel and pineapple salad for a crunchy grilled main course that looks wonderful presented on a small platter. Don't forget the beverages. Have a refreshing cocktail ready for your guests as soon as they arrive as a delicious welcome gesture. Prepare the drinks before your guests arrive so it's ready to go when your friends show up. Chef Tom suggests using the new PC Watermelon Lemon Naturally Flavoured Soda in a pitcher. Stir in ice cubes, mix with ginger ale and lemonade, pour into highball glasses and garnish with mint sprigs and lemon slices and voila - instant cocktail success. Play mood music. The right background music can help set the mood for the party, so have a playlist prepared in advance that features enough music to last the length of the party, which typically should be two to three hours. www.newscanada.com
