Milton intersection projects underway; others slated to begin soon By JOE PARKER joe@appenmediagroup.com MILTON, Ga. — Some major Milton road improvement projects have been completed recently, and more construction is set to begin this summer. The roundabout at Freemanville and Providence Road is on track for completion in July dependent on weather. The single-lane traffic circle replaces a fourway stop and will include landscaping in
the interior of the roundabout. Work is underway to complete a left turn lane on Ga. 372 at Batesville Road. Paving was completed last week, and the addition of pavement markings and cleanup are the only remaining items on the project, said Milton transportation engineer Sara Leaders. A Florida-T intersection at Crabapple Road and Green Road was completed in April along with the construction of left and right turning lanes on Green Road.
The Florida-T includes a receiving lane for traffic turning left from Green Road onto Crabapple and a left turn lane for eastbound Crabapple traffic turning onto Green Road. The intersection was an operational improvement in conjunction with the Georgia DOT. Such projects can be implemented in a short period of time at a lower cost versus major improvements.
