Project Brief: This project was a part of the Pave 2020 Student Design Competition. The goal of this project was to design a brand experience for SketchUp that would take the form of a pop-up space which had to be adaptable, mobile and transformable and could be located in different environments: a mall, a college campus, a park, etc. The goal was to develop a space which exploits the design potential that SketchUp offers, and would lead to an increased number of SketchUp adopters. The project must incorporate 4 industries that SketchUp is used for and design a popup experience which allows users to explore these industries through the use of SketchUp. Fixtures will be designed to promote the experience by creating micro-environments within the overall envelope of the space. The brand narrative was considered while constructing the space to connect the user’s journey with the 4 industries.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT An origin is the beginning of something, to which thoughts turn to cells. The beginning of life. Those cells studied in a lab to learn from, understand and experiment with. The cell is a circular shape which has no beginning or ending, thus being infinite. Infinite possibilities are possible throughout this shape which means no limits and every thought to be tangible.
The Origins Lab is a place providing opportunity for experimentation, observation or practice where something can begin, arise or can be derived from. An idea, thought or passion can be the perfect origin for a powerful design. The Origins Lab has no boundaries or limits. SketchUp also gives its users the power to create with no restrictions. Everything begins with a clean slate, ready for the mind to roam and test the untestable, dive into the creative unknown and spark the unimaginable. SketchUp allows its users to make the impossible possible which is why The Origins Lab is a perfect place for the end user to use the tools given to them through SketchUp to create infinite designs.
