2018 - 2022
Hi, I am Aqil Ersa I freshly graduated architecture and is striving to learn more. I always see designing as an interesting activity and by solving problems through design, I find joy in it. Throughout my studies, I had always opened my eyes to new ideas. To me, designing is a never ending process in which the outcome and the designer can always improve further. Thus, creating a relevant answers to many problems from a to z.

RE:Project RE:PROJECT is a future-oriented concept that explores how space can be re-experienced. Through the existence of augmented reality, everyday activities that seem mundane can be much more fun and fulfilling with one’s imagination. This project takes place in liminal spaces such as transit stations especially for buses and MRT’s.
Year 2021
Type Academic Project
With the advancement of AR technology, this project helps to ease loneliness of others while commuting. In the near future, we might be well geared with gadgets (whether it is our phone, or maybe something else?) to project images to our surroundings. Thus, commuting alone or even being with friends can be a more joyful. Those tiny moments spent within the transit won’t always have to be dull. Even when in a rush, having to rush with someone else is better than rushin alone, right?
RE:PROJECT is set to be an intervention spread across town to help ease the loneliness of others in transit oriented areas. In this prototype, MRT Fatmawati is taken as a sample district for RE:PROJECT to erect. It connects the MRT station above with the bus stops underneath it. How it stands might differ in certain locations, but in this particular case, it spreads above the highway of JORR.
Consists mostly with open area in the building, this project provides more room for the people to ‘imagine’. Imagine what kind of images they can project from their thoughts, through their gadgets, to their surroundings. This image that they generate will acompany them throughout the distance they travel to transit.
As to help people transit at the same time, RE:PROJECT provides spacious areas in order for them to move. Thus, one can still imagine without disturbing others.
Cinepatch Cinepatch is a project done during my participation in the Osaka Architecture Student Summer Student Workshop 2021 with the theme of ‘Reuniting and Upcycling’. During the early period of COVID-19 pandemic, theatres were closed. At a certain point in that time, did we miss going to the cinema with our beloved ones? Cinepatch arrives as an intervention to tackle our yearning for watching movies with friends and family. Located in the pedestrian street, Cinepatch captures panorama of the streets, framing, helps us recall the experience we had together in the cinema.

Cinepatch is basically a wall. A wall that does not separate us from one end, but to visually connect. With openings that vary in each iteration, what lies beyond the frame can be seen by our eyes. The sky, the streets, the cats. With the shades casted by the wall itself, the view we see will be more visible.
Upcycling process is implemented in the design. As Indonesia has a very large amount of fabric waste, this project attempts to recycle those fabrics so they won’t just go to the sea for nothing.
Foundnation Foundnation is designed to create a housing solution for the homeless in Skidrow, Los Angeles, CA. The building acts not only as a place where they can sleep, eat, and sanitize, but also as a center of growth and learning. This project lies in the center of Skidrow. Thus, with the limit of space in the site, those who are still queueing for their turn to settle can come to experience in the public area.
Year 2021
Type Academic Work
With its surrounding full of abandoned buildings, Foundnation is set to become the new face of Skidrow. Reimagining how the streets could be, Skidrow will not only end its description as a ‘hell’ in America, but would become a place where a new fresh begining could start. Through this image, they who once homeless would have the confidence to start anew.
The open yard in the middle plays a role as a space that connects everyone. Regardless of their background, whether it is race, class, residentials, everyone can gather in this particular space. Once in a while, events can be held in the area to enhance the liveliness of Skidrow.
With Foundnation being a solution for homelessness, creating a “home” at individual level becomes important. The upper floors of the project consist of several living quarter units for one or two people. Their wellenss is considered through the enhancement of private boundaries and slight openness on their own will. The balcony is covered with a perforated metal sheets that can be retractable, creating composititons collectively to endorse liveliness inside the building.
The outer areas are as important as the inside. WIth the limitation of the site, Foundnation can only contain a small percentage of the homeless in Skidrow. However, the project compromises with the existence of multifunctional areas to provide equal services for everyone in the area.
Children House Located in the Tanaff Valey of Senegal, this project aims to become a center for children who are in need of nutrition help. With the facilities that vary from open courtyard, to infirmary, the Children House provides mindfulness and peace for the Senegal people.

The building consists from a rectangular form for infirmary, storage, and multifunctional facilities. While on the circular form functions as a courtyard mainly for interaction and for visibility for the security of the children in the area.
Materials gathered from the local enviornment are used to create familirity for the people as the labor works will be done by them to be then occupied by themselves. This method attempts to help the building sustain and ease the maintenance.
The design spans with various opacity between rooms. This approach differs each function yet with several openings, the users can be under the shade and experience natural air.
The infirmary area isn’t one to make someone feel alone. With openness within the space, if not on an emergency case, those who are in need of healing can heal together.
Hori HORI derives from korean hangeul, it stands for ‘SUN’. This project is a study of material exploration and at the same time functions as a platform to enjoy the sunrise at a cliff in Anyang Park, South Korea.
Year 2020
Type Academic Project
The platform is a linear path that leads to the east. At the end of the path, one can witness the first light in the morning.
The materials used for the study mainly consist of 3; PTFE, Glass , and Steels. These three harmonize to create a design in which one can feel like they are hovering above the ground to reach the sun.
Telan Telan stands for TENIS LANTAI and is a conceptual unorthodox game of tennis where the players do not stand. Instead, they would have to either sit down or crouch to play. The components of the design can be installed anywhere. As long as there is a ground, there can always be a game of TELAN.

Sustainability is one of the consideration for the design. Therefore, with the essential components of tennis; Ball, Racket, and Net, the three can be achieved by reusing waste. This effort can simply bring happiness for others by playing and giving a positive impact to the environment at the same time. Delaying the waste process.
Wisdomhood Wisdomhood is a study on typology and computation design. The notion of this project is to redefine how a learning center in a local neighborhood of Jakarta can in a new form by implementing the essentials of a learning center typology.
Year 2021
Type Academic Project
The form of the design derives from a series of computational iteratoin in which each of them are generated by certain parametrics.
With slight modification on the generated design, several asymmetrical angles can be found within. However the development prioritizes interaction to happen inside the intervened area in order for the people to socialize, therefore, learning with each other.
The design consists of multiple volumetric masses as a result of the computational approach. Located in the corner of the street, most of the area on the ground floor function as an open space to gather.
Fatmawati Hub Located specifically near the Fatmawati MRT station, this project provides facilities for the people to do several activities from playing, gathering, to witnessing local community products. The project prioritizes efficient energy usage to make it sustainable and can be easiily maintained.
Year 2020
Type Academic Project
The design spans from north to south and provide outdoors and indoors area. The outer parts of the site are used for a more physical activities such as sports and picnics. Meanwhile the inner areas function as halls, space to socialize, to perform, and to exhibit.
The facade of this building is considered to be the main physical features that stands out the most. With perforated openings made out of wood and concrete, natural air will penetrate creating a cool breeze inside.
With the design prioritizing natural elements especially air and light to utilize the building, users can be emphasized with the open area.
