I N T RO D U C T I O N Select CITYWALK is a 1.3 million sq. ft. air-conditioned, vibrant and upscale destination shopping centre. This is a part of an overall complex of 54 acres that comprises of three floors of office space, India’s first SixScreen, two Gold Class and four Premier Class PVR Cinemas, and approx. 1 lakh sq. ft. of Serviced Apartments. It is centrepiece of 54-acre, well planned business district. It is an interesting hybrid of a European high street and an enclosed shopping mall, with a 240m facade overlooking a 100,000 square foot of outdoor plaza and 4-acre landscaped park.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CASE S T U DY To understand the services used in a shopping mall. To understand the planning and zoning of the shopping mall. To understand how a shopping mall attracts more peoples.

To understand the minimum facilities requirement of a shopping mall.

• There is problem in crossing of road as no Pedestrian facility like FOB, Subway is provided nearby to it. So, number of modal conflicts are more.

ARCHITECT’S OBJECTIVE AND CONCEPT OF DESIGN. PLANNING CONCEPT Select citywalk is spread over 6 acres and includes a multiplex, serviced apartments, offices and public spaces. The planning of the select citywalk mall is divided into 4 categorization1. Family & tradition space 2. Celebration (centre-sage) 3. High-voltage (youth) 4. Open plaza/ Landscaped area (ground floor)

STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE, AESTHETIC QUALITY / VISUAL IMPACT.

ELEMENTS REMINISCENT OF VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE LIKE THE FREE-STANDING WALLS OF JANTAR- MANTAR,

FOUNTAIN PLAYS A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN CATCHING THE EYES OF THE SHOPPERS TO STOP BY IT AND SPEND SOME TIME AROUND IT.

HALF DOME SHAPED STRUCTURE CATHCHES THE ATTRACTION OF VISITORS, WHICH IS VISIBLE FROM THE ROAD.

AT THE UPPER LEVEL ON THE FRONT FACADE, SPACE HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR ADVERTISEMENTS WHICH ARE VISIBLE FROM A DISTANCE GOVERNING THE EXTERNAL ELEVATION.

MATERIALS FOR CONSTRUCTION Concrete is used for dome and Brickwall is used for straight walls.

SPECIFICA TIONS 1. Type of the Construction : RCC Frame structure 2. External Finish Cladding : Granite, Texture paint, Composite metal 3. Internal Wall Finish : Plaster with desired paint finish, ceramic tiles for the toilet. 4. Flooring : Marble, Granite Slabs,Vitrified Tiles 5. Doors : Shutters of ply with TW frames and fire proof door wherever required. 6. Windows : Aluminium Sections 7. Electrification : Adequate provision for electric outlet, TV and Telephone Points.

each building is provided with its own parking in order to reduce the chaos in complex .

• Saket district can take the load of traffic but its surrounding area, are not. • Complex don't have adequate parking for two wheeler.,


PARKING •

1200 cars can be parked in 3 different floors of basement at one time.

Basement 1- Offices, Parking for 370 cars, Loading & unloading area, Garbage disposal area

Basement 2- Parking 470 cars

Basement 3- Parking 270 cars

Basement height- 3.5m

BASEMENTS = 41578.5 sq.m (3 LVLS)

There were two separate entries which were connecting to the parking, from ground floor.

One was used for general entry of cars & The other was used by service vehicles.

There were 4 lifts which were connecting basement to upper floors.

Toilets and locker rooms Provided for the drivers.

Signage are clearly marked in the basement.

Throughout the basement, fire fighting equipment 's like sprinklers, Fire hose reel, Fire extinguishers were present Basements are used for car parking

Well outlined loading-unloading areas in the basements are provided.

Car wash facility is given in basement.

The waste from restaurants was collected in basement, through shaft.

There were 3 separate areas, which were dividing the waste into different categories.

After separation, waste is dispose of through garbage trucks.

LANDSCAPE • Comprises of 4 acres of outdoor open plaza, for art exhibitions & performances. • Landscaped plaza of 8992 sq. meters. • An OAT, with a capacity of 200+ people. • Statues & Sculptures were placed all around the landscaping. • Flooring: Marble, Granite Slabs, Vitrified Tiles . • Sitting spaces is created all over the landscaped area. • Fountains


LANDSCAPING

More use of pots for plants. And are placed in almost all the floors to be energyefficient building. Terrace garden is being used as outooor seating for the cafe situated on the second floor. Mainly stone wooden, and aluminum furniture is used.

PUBLIC PLAZA PLAN

Public plaza Seating spaces created all around the open spaces • A frontage of over 250m overlooking a public plaza with pedestrian outside the mall pathways extending into 4 acres of green space. This plaza provides a pleasant and sitting for rest, • Special features – open air theatres, water bodies, fountain and relaxation . breathtaking landscaping.


SERVICES SERVICES • 2 entries and 5 fire exits are provided. • 3 level basement parking is provided. • The placement of the entry to the basement is such that it also acts as dropoff without hindering the entry to the basement.

• 3 escalators are provided. • Service corridors are also provided at the rear side of citywalk. • A 20 m wide service lance is provided at the rear side which also acts as surface parking.

STORES • Area to stores were assigned as per their requirements. • Floor to floor height-4m • Stores equipped with fire fighting equipment's • Internal layouts varies individually. • Shops area ranges form 50 Sq.m- 1500sq.m

WASHROOM There were 2 washrooms present on each floor. Each washroom comprises of • 5 washbasins • 6 urinals

• 6 cubical • Hand dryer • Handicapped washroom Total Area- 5mx8m


MULTIPLEX •

THERE ARE 6 SCREENS.

2 OF THE 6, ARE GOLD CLASS.

OTHER 4 SCREENS ARE ABOVE THE GOLD CLASS SCREENS.

THE MAIN ENTRY IS THROUGH THE BRIDGE ON THE FIRST FLOOR WHICH CONNECTS MALL AND MULTIPLEX BUILDING.

THE GROUND FLOOR ENTRY CAN ALSO BE USED FOR GOLD CLASS ENTRY.

TICKETS FOR CINEMA CAN BE PURCHASED FROM GROUND FLOOR & FIRST FLOOR.

GOOD POINT IS TICKET COUNTOR IS JUST AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE MALL.

PARKING FOR CINEMA IS SAME AS FOR MALL.
