Tribute to Sheikh Saleh Al-Toaimi
Late Sheikh Saleh being honored by our Secretary General, Mr. Rashad Mabger, during a visiting Greek delegation to Riyadh, November 2012
Late Sheikh Saleh between Mr. Farouk Joud, former BD Member and Mr. Anastasios Antonopoulos, former Chairman of the Board of our Chamber
On January 6th 2020, the Arab-Hellenic Chamber lost one of its pioneers and long-standing friends, Sheikh Saleh Al-Toaimi.
Sheikh Saleh had an impressive history of achievements and an enviable reputation at home and abroad. His inspiring leadership and pursuit of excellence have followed him throughout his professional life. He was one of the founders of both, Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and the Council of Saudi Chambers, where he served as the first Secretary General.
As we reflect upon the high standards he espoused, we are reminded of his valuable contribution to the development of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber during his long-term board membership as a representative of the Saudi Council of Chambers.
We, at the Arab-Hellenic Chamber feel privileged to have shared with him many rewarding years for which he will be remembered as a man of knowledge and integrity. He always had a constructive word of advice and was highly respected and admired by his colleagues and friends. He left behind an honorable legacy that offers both inspiration and challenge. The big family of our Chamber all join me in honoring his memory and offering our condolences to his loved ones in their time of mourning.
May his soul rest in peace.
Late Sheikh Saleh with H.E. Adnan Kassar, another pioneer of our Chamber in the early years of our Chamber

Dear Reader, As we reflect and look back on 2019, we can proudly say that we are pleased with all our successful activities and achievements, which we treasure, as they have been a result of the hard work, passion and dedication to our members. In terms of figures, throughout 2019, we have received over 300 businessmen from the Arab world and 600 businessmen from varied business sectors in Greece – a substantial increase compared to last years.
Harris Geronikolas President
Nevertheless, we constantly aim higher as there is still plenty to be achieved. We see next year lined-up with success and further achievements and therefore, we are looking forward to the events of this year with even more determination and enthusiasm. It is worth mentioning, that last year’s newly introduced event The Roundtable ‘Meet the Arab Ambassadors’, which was positively received by everyone, inspired us to launch more new initiatives. For 2020, we are planning to introduce events of completely different nature, which we believe, will add value in terms of contents and participation from two Arab countries. A small example will be the presentation of the members’ networking event, which will give the opportunity to our members in Greece and the Arab world to meet, discuss, interact and create business partnerships. Please stay tuned as more information will be announced in the coming two months.

GREEN ENERGY UPGRADE BY D. KORONAKIS SA D.KORONAKIS SA is focused intently on green energy as it considers it crucial for the industry’s sustainability. A new innovative environmental project between D.KORONAKIS SA and MYTILINEOS GROUP is already in place and being further developed. We are very proud for the green energy upgrade of D.KORONAKIS site infrastructure in Thiva, i.e. its electrification by two photovoltaic sites (of 1 MWp total capacity). For the time being, 3.378 photovoltaic panels have been installed and have covered a roof area of 5.600 m2. The execution of the project and park electrification were completed in less than 40 days.
As such, 20% of the total energy of the D.KORONAKIS SA plant is currently covered by solar power with zero environmental footprint and an annual energy saving of 1,3 GWh . D.KORONAKIS SA continues to support its environmental practices by expanding the photovoltaic site through a net metering process and doubling the capacity of the photovoltaic system in the next two months. We believe that green energy and commitment to environmental issues will have a major effect on our industry and the environment.
