A FEW ENDING COMMENTS…
DIAHC 2024 gathered some of the wor-

ld’s most stunning Arabian horses at Dubai World Trade Center Za’abell Hall 4-6, providing a spectacular parterre for award-winning and multi-champion Arabian horses competing for generous jackpots. It is impressive every year how the quality level of horses presented at this unmissable morphology event grows exponentially and how deep the love and passion for these equine creatures run throughout the country. The expansion of the equestrian market in the UAE amply demonstrates this. We are beyond grateful to the venerable members of the High Organizing Committee (H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin
Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin
Mohammed Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai) as well as to the DIAHC Board - in particular, General Manager Mr Qusai Obaidalla and DIAHC Executive Manager Mr Adel Saeed Al Falasi - for inviting Arabian Horse Magazine also this year in this show where excellence and expert equestrian stewardship are the rules. Many thanks to all the tireless judges, the impeccable DCs, the zealous breeders and owners, and the trainers and handlers who worked hard to bring their horses to such high standards. A special thanks go out to the sponsors, volunteers, ring stewards, and behind-the-scenes workers. We look forward to seeing again all the wonderful people we have crossed paths with and making countless more interesting contacts, dreamers and lovers of the incredible, immortal Arabian horse.

AN INTERVIEW
BY SONIA SMALDONE
A long-time dream came true when Dobrochna Perz-Wawrzyńczyk and Przemysław Wawrzyńczyk’s Lubochnia Arabians has been established in Poland. The stud’s first important horses were acquired from some of the best genetic bloodlines and award-winning breeding programs around the globe. Read their captivating story in the interview below.
AHM | 126
WHO ARE DOBROCHNA PERZ-WAWRZYŃCZYK AND PRZEMYSŁAW WAWRZYŃCZYK, EXACTLY?
Who are we? We are a happily married couple with two daughters. We keep our feet firmly on the ground. We consider ourselves people who work hard every day and are ambitious. The passion accompanying us in life and the persistence in pursuing our goals allow us to implement our plans and fulfil our dreams. We cannot stand still. We also demand this from the people who surround us. We like to strive for goals in our professional lives, i.e. running a company and developing an Arabian horse stud, a new but crucial project for us. Business-wise, we have been running a company that provides electrical, telecommunications and HVAC installations for 25 years. From 2021, we also breed Arabian horses at a stud farm in central Poland, on Lake Wierzbiczany. Looking at us from the side, people may think we are serious and demanding at work, especially of each other. After work, we are very family-oriented, we love playing cards with grandparents, children and friends, riding horses, travelling together and exploring new places. Above all, we like to spend time actively; riding horses and bicycles, and swimming. Of course, we are always busy and often late for our flights. But this also has its charm.
WHO WAS/WERE YOUR MENTOR(S) WHEN YOU STARTED THE BUSINESS?
We can confidently say that our parents were and are our greatest mentors. Thanks to their support and commitment we have built a large, efficient and successful company. From an early age, we had a passion for horses. Thanks to one of our clients, Krzysztof Kapała, who persuaded us to visit the show in Białka, we started looking for Arabian horses and met Mateusz Jaworski. Thanks to Mateusz, we met Paolo and Susy Capecci. Together, we create a well-coordinated team of crazy Arabian horse enthusiasts. Passion has gradually evolved into a serious activity and constitutes a large part of our lives. We don’t have time for a trip to the cinema or weekend laziness. There are births, insemination, shows, veterinarian and blacksmith visits, photo sessions, marketing campaigns... A lot is going on...
WHAT LED YOU TO BUILD LUBOCHNIA ARABIANS?
As we mentioned, we had a passion for horses from an early age. Przemek found one of his first paid jobs at a stud farm, cleaning stalls and preparing horses for riding. At that time, he had no idea that he would become an Arabian horse breeder in the future. Life is full of unexpected turns that appear be-
AHM | 127
cause of the wonderful people that come into it. We wouldn’t like to call it a coincidence, but the fact that these would be Arabian horses and not another breed was, in a sense, decided by chance. However, how much we got involved in this world is an entirely different story. We love spending time with our horses, delivering foals, going to shows, visiting other breeders and learning about their breeding programs. We are convinced that thanks to the efforts of Polish breeders, our country can regain its lost prestige and become a significant player in the international arena again. Among Polish breeders, many extremely experienced and talented people with great passion can be found, and that’s what it’s all about. We believe we should
support each other as a group of breeders. Showing unity and support is extremely important in striving for success. This requires peace and mutual support in a challenging world.
HOW MANY MARES DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE? WHAT ARE THEIR BLOODLINES? WHICH OF THEM HAVE WON ACCOLADES AT SHOWS?
It is no secret what horses we have in the stable. We certainly caused quite a stir in the Polish community when, as a Polish stud farm, we started by purchasing horses in Dubai, and not the other way around, as was the case years earlier. Currently, the most titled in the stable is D Leen (D Seraj x D Maha by
AHM | 128
Eden C), who is, among others, an All Nations Cup Silver Junior Champion Mare from Aachen in 2023. Juwanda OS (WH Justice x Shak Lavanda by ZT Shakfantasy) is, among others: European Gold Champion Mare, International Abu Dhabi Gold Champion Mare and has repeatedly been at the top of the most important shows in Europe and the Middle East. Juwanda OS gave birth to a beautiful filly by FA El Rasheem this year. It is a great satisfaction that such a great icon of world breeding can be our property. The next mares that make up the stud are two daughters of FA El Rasheem: D Narjeseyyah (out of Exxaltress by Excalibur E.A.) and D Dawaly (out of D Danat by SG Labib), both highly titled young mares. Dawaly is also the sister of D Nafayes, the most successful yearling Arabian mare in the world, who is unquestionably leading in this year’s most important ranking of global shows, the Global Champions Arabians Tour. We have great breeding hopes in our daughters of FA El Rasheema and D Seraj. Despite the huge offers that appeared along the way to buy D Leen, we decided to breed her daughters first, feel like breeders, and be successful in this sector, and then we would think about selling her. The two daughters of the World Champion Kahil Al Shaqab are of great value to us: Washa (out of Wasa by WH Justice) and SS Rawnaq (out of SS Ranya by WH Justice). This year, we expect 10 foals for the first time, which means the real foaling season has begun at our stud. More than half of this year’s off-
spring have already been born, we are extremely pleased with the foals by the stallions Exagon OS, FA El Rasheem, Madin Al Baydaa and Faez Simbad.
WHO ARE THE CORNERSTONE STALLIONS OF YOUR BREEDING PROGRAM? WHO ARE THOSE WHO HAVE PARTICULARLY SHONE AT COMPETITIONS?
Our observations show that the greatest successes are achieved by young horses sired by such sires as FA El Rasheem, D Seraj, Excalibur E.A., Shanghai E.A. or Exagon OS. We are also impatiently waiting for foals by these stallions. Last year, we bought the six-month-old Sana OS (Exagon OS x Panamera OS by Psytadel), who will represent us as a yearling filly at shows in Europe this year.
WHAT TRAITS DO YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE FOALS?
Full of charisma, correctly built, well-moving, with big eyes that will catch the judge’s attention to the show ring. But will also attract other breeders. This is what we want to strive for.
ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN BREEDING IS…?
In theory, it is easier to buy a good, high-quality horse than to breed one yourself. We have heard this from breeders several times, visiting their stud farms in various parts of the world.
AHM | 129
Currently, the situation on the market has become so complicated that even finding a suitable horse that would also be for sale is not easy. Middle Eastern stud farms have almost unlimited budgets and are home to some of the best mares in the world. Even with good budgets, it turns out that it is not easy to buy a horse that will win, there are many factors involved. We have noticed that high-quality purebred Arabian horses have become a truly scarce commodity. Something special. Therefore, our biggest challenge will be our breeding. To not have 300 horses within our four walls, but 30 of the most precious ones. For now, this is a plan that, together with Paolo and Susy Capecci, we want to implement step by step.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT BEING A BREEDER?
The emotions accompanying it, the moment before the result is announced during a show, especially during a
championship. Often, it takes months, and often years of hard work. Breeding is neither a simple nor obvious process in which everything can be planned. The number of variables independent of the breeder is so large that this moment of success and the satisfaction it brings is so great that it compensates for all the sleepless nights. Nights that don’t always have a happy ending.
WHAT CRITERIA DO YOU CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING WHICH COMPETITIONS TO ATTEND, AND HOW DO YOU PREPARE YOUR HORSES FOR THESE SHOWS?
As a first step, we listen and create a show plan with the Training Center. Our horses are at Susi and Paolo’s. They and their team look after our pupils, taking care and training them. We always plan the season at the beginning of the year, we love planning in the company, in our private life and at the stud farm. Horses are probably the most
AHM | 130
difficult thing to plan! Of course, before each show, we decide again whether the horse is in good enough shape to perform at the show. We respect judges and the breeders’ community. We always try to show horses in the best possible conditions. When the idea to create an Arabian horse stud first popped into our heads, we assumed that considering our age, we did not have time to build something from scratch ourselves. We decided to invest in a world-class training center with traditions that is currently the most successful in the world. Susi and Paolo believed in our passion and, despite our difficult personalities, we are creating a small stud farm alongside world stud farms through joint decisions and friendship that unite us.
WHAT IS YOUR WISH FOR BREEDERS WORLDWIDE DURING THE 2024 EUROPEAN SHOW SEASON?
We would like them to use all their passion to breed horses they believe in and meet their expectations. Therefore, they won’t be afraid to take risks, make decisions, and trust themselves. Breeders must be satisfied not only with their own choices but also with the recognition they receive from colleagues. Lots of success! And let’s hope there will be more and more breeders in Europe and the world!
...Thank you, Dobrochna and Przemysław for your time and for being one of the driving forces behind the preservation and promotion of these remarkable horses in Poland. I wish you continued success in your future endeavours!

3RD LEG
Global Champions Arabians Tour
“RESPECTING
BEAUTY WITH INTEGRITY”
30th MARCH /1st APRIL
MUSCAT – OMAN AL BUSTAN PALACE
Written by: Sonia Smaldine & Gianluca Martino
After two successful editions in Doha and Abu Dhabi, the 3rd leg of the Global Champions Arabians Tour (GCAT) led by CEO Badr Al-Darwish was celebrated from 30th March to 1st April in the leafy parkland of the Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton hotel, nestled between the rugged Hajar mountain range and the tranquil sea of Oman. Originally constructed for the Late Sultan Qaboos in 1985 to host the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, Al Bustan Palace stands as a monumental achievement in contemporary Omani architecture, symbolizing Oman’s emergence onto the global stage. The centrepiece of this architectural marvel is its towering 38-meter dome, surpassing even the majestic dome of the Taj Mahal, featuring an impressive 5.5-ton, 18m crystal chandelier. In addition, Al Bustan Palace is a sanctuary of botanical diversity, boasting over 300 date palm trees, 200 coconut trees, and an array of vibrant flowering bushes. Participants and visitors had much to enjoy at the Heritage Village surrounding the GCAT Muscat show-
grounds immersing themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Oman, and connecting with people from all over the globe through the shared passion for the Arabian horse. Another prominent highlight of the GCAT Muscat 2024 was an impressive championship prize fund of €1,050,000, the highest prize money in Muscat’s Arabian Horse Show history. Alongside this, horses competing on the Muscat leg could collect points towards the overall tour rankings resulting in the leading horse walking away with a bonus prize of €1,000,000.
For GCAT Muscat, as in previous legs, a panel of 20 esteemed judges evaluated nearly 100 purebred Arabian horses based on a five categories set - type, head and neck, body and top line, legs, and movement - each worth 20 points, allowing a maximum possible score of 100 points. In attendance, there were Mr Elyas Ebrahim Faraj (Bahrain), Mr Nashaat Hegazy (Egypt), Mr Detailleur Koenraad (Belgium), Mrs Christine Valette (France), Mr Rocco Luiz Antonio Moreira (Brazil), Mr

The story of Aljassimya Farm, the award-winning Arabian breeding program developed by H.E. Sheikh Jassim Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar, starts in 1979. Since then, the farm has produced superior purebred Arabians who have made their name in the most prestigious contemporary International Arabian Horses Championships, building dyna-
sties of Champions after Champions. A dominant part of Sheikh Jassim’s dedication to the Arabian horse is a commitment to support Arabian horse activities to attract new audiences to the farm. A runaway success was the Open House on 6th February 2024 that Sheikh Jassim Bin Khalifa Al Thani held at the main arena of his equestrian facilities. The event drew a small group of friends, families, breeders and honoured guests.
AHM | 174
At the core of the presentation was the unveiling of Aljassimya’s collection of foals, mainly this year’s newborn. The foals were presented - one by one- by the speaker, commenting on their unique qualities, impeccable bloodlines, and potential as future champions. Guests had the opportunity to witness the foals in action, showcasing their agility, strength, and intelligence - traits essential for success in the Arabian Horse world of competitive equestrian sports.
AHM | 175
The guests at the Open House were not only treated to a visual feast of stunning foals. They also had the opportunity to interact with them up close, witnessing the pride, masculinity and flawless balance of the colts or the fillies’ feminine showy attitude and graceful movements. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and awe as attendees admired the
foals’ beauty and loftier quality, acknowledging the high skills and expertise that Sheikh Jassim Bin Khalifa Al Thani put into their breeding and development. His new foals epitomize the highest standards of the Arabian horse breed, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the heritage and legacy of the Arabian horse in Qatar.

The presentation continued with the handsome colt Lehon (2020) (Fa El Rasheem x Aragia Vanilla), crowned 2023 Reserve World Champion Junior Colts, followed by the stunning grey Arrab Aljassimya (2017) (Al Ayal AA x Om El Aisha Aljassimya), Silver Medal Champion at Qatar National Arabian Horse Championship 2023 - Senior Stallions Championship, the precious bay mare Andrea Al Jassimya (2018) (Equator x Aurora Aljassimya),

and the gorgeous Alma Al Jassimya (Alexxander x Malikat Al Moluk). The exquisite grey Brianne Alfabia (2019) (EKS Alihandro X Balbina Alfabia) stole the scene at some point. She was crowned Gold Medal Champion at the World Arabian Horse Championship 2022Paris - Junior Fillies Championship and, at the Open House, proved the worth of her title, delivering a delicious performance of grace and impressive agility. The big and unexpected final surprise was the appearance in the arena of the sublime E.S. Harir (2011) (AJ Dinar × TF Magnums Magic), recently crowned Gold Champion Senior Stallion on the Global Arabian Tour 2024, Doha, Qatar, exhibited muzzle to muzzle with the
outstanding grey colt Bandar Aljassimya (2021) (Picasso Di Mar x Miznat Aljassimya), Gold Champion Junior Colt on the Global Arabian Tour 2024, Doha, Qatar.
As the day winded down in this beautiful region of the Arabian Peninsula, the success of the Al Jassimya Open House 2024 was evident. The Open House 2024 showcased the exceptional quality of Aljassimya Farm’s new foal collection and the cornerstone horses of its breeding program. It also reinforced its reputation as a leading authority in the Arabian horse world breeding, continuing to set the standards for quality and excellence in this industry.

For the fourth consecutive year, the global Arabian community gathered on the beautiful Polo Grounds of WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona, for one of the marquee events on the international calendar: the Arabian Breeders World Cup. Condensed to a more engaging three-day schedule, the show was held from Thursday the 28th through Saturday the 30th of March, moving forward one day to avoid a conflict with Easter Sunday.
Scottsdale has been home to the World Cup since 2021, when the life-saving decision was made by the Arabian Horse Breeders Alliance (AHBA) Board of Directors to conduct the show outdoors at WestWorld rather than miss another opportunity to host the show in its original location in Las Vegas at the South Point Events Center. The global COVID-19 pandemic had cancelled the 2020 World Cup just weeks before show date, and remaining restrictions for indoor venues in 2021 made hosting the World Cup an impossibility during the traditional time frame of mid-April. Thus the long-held dream to host an outdoor international-style show in Scottsdale finally came to fruition, with the World Cup.
For those not accustomed to outdoor halter events, the World Cup at WestWorld has been a welcome respite. The Polo Grounds are the perfect venue: an expansive, beautifully manicured, green field, ideally situated near the facility entrance with easy access and ample parking, all set against the imposing backdrop of the McDowell Mountain range. Once the white marquees are assembled to enclose the show ground and provide shade for the VIP guests, officials, vendors and awards, it’s as if a new pristine facility has popped up overnight, one purposefully created to showcase the best of the Arabian horse and to provide maximum comfort and enjoyment for the breeders, owners, professionals and enthusiasts who have come to support the breed.
While there has been growing interest from the international community for the World Cup to return to Las Vegas, the most recent Scottsdale edition of the event gave everyone reason to reconsider, as the show put it very best foot forward with increased sponsorship support, an elevated set-up and design, more rewarding perks for VIP guests and even more prizes and awards for winners at an event already known for the best award haul in the business. With the exception of gale force winds that challenged the integrity of the sponsor banners on Saturday, the weather was perfect for Scottsdale in late March –sunny, dry and pleasant, with temperatures comfortably in the 70s, following cool nights and the wettest Spring in the region for more than a quarter century.
AHM | 221
For guests and exhibitors alike, fellowship, camaraderie and sportsmanship were at an all-time high, reminiscent of the first World Cup events in Las Vegas, when everyone worked together to support each other for the betterment of the breed. The welcome addition of the EMIRATES ARABIAN HORSE GLOBAL CUP, a first for North America to host an ECAHO-accredited event supported by an international Arabian Horse Society, contributed considerable excitement and celebration, with more awards and titles distributed to a greater number of owners and breeders and significant prize money won by breeding horses of all ages.
Most reassuringly, given the recent decline in horse numbers at most Arabian shows worldwide, entries remained at the same level as 2023, with 125 horses forward to compete for the ultimate honour of World Cup Supreme Champion. The additional appeal of earning prize money at every age and of being crowned Emirates Global Cup Champion buoyed interest considerably, with a significant number of small breeders supporting the show, many for the very first time. A comprehensively global team of judges – comprised of Helen Hennekens (Belgium), Mario Braga (Brazil), Ted Carson, (USA) Jonas Salzmann (Kuwait), James Swaenepoel (Belgium) and Isaac Taylor (USA). The presence of Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) Director-General Mohamed Al Harbi, EAHS Consultant Deirdre Hyde and ECAHO President Jaroslav Lacina added further prestige to event, as all were on hand not only to present the awards in the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup, but also to meet and engage with local breeders, owners and exhibitors and to support the evolution of the World Cup. For the first time since the trailblazing event had been held in Scottsdale, it was beginning to feel like the ‘world’ was once again rightfully represented at, and an essential part of, the World Cup.
For those who have faithfully supported the World Cup since 2007, when the event burst onto the international scene with great fanfare and seismically transformative change, they understand and appreciate the attention given to amateur handlers as integral to the success of the show. Created with inclusivity in mind, it has always been the aim of the World Cup to showcase amateur handled and/or owned horses alongside the best Arabian horses competing in the breed, to not only make those owners and exhibitors feel a vital part of the elite global community, but to also give those horses the opportunity to shine under the same prestigious spotlight at an event that enjoys universal acclaim and respect. The magnitude of the awards presented to the Amateur to Handle (ATH) Supreme Champions, which include some of the largest cups awarded in breed anywhere in the world, attest to the high regard in which these horses, handlers and owners are held at the World Cup.

SUPREME GOLD CHAMPION YEARLING FILLY MARLAYNA PCF
(MARTINO PCF X LAYNA LEONA PCF BY REGAL ACTOR JP)
2024 ARABIAN BREEDERS AHM | 224
OWNED BY: ORRION FARMS | BRED BY: PCF ARABIANS
As had been the case since the very first World Cup seventeen years ago, the largest section was once again yearling fillies with 26 entries forward. Superior quality was present from top to bottom, with the ten highest scoring fillies returning for the Supreme Championship on Saturday afternoon, a premier attraction that follows just after morning brunch and official opening ceremonies. Two of the brightest stars from the Scottsdale All-Arabian Show just six weeks earlier were again rewarded for their excellence by yet another panel of distinguished judges. The most talked about horse of the show proved to be the filly who earned the Supreme Gold Championship with four votes for gold and two for silver – the magnificent MARLAYNA PCF. Improbably tall and captivatingly elegant with a gorgeous forehand, exuberant tail carriage and a commandingly confident show ring presence, MARLYANA, is even more impressively, an eight-generation PCF Arabians-bred masterpiece, with two crosses to their inimitable foundation sire PCF Vision (*Marwan Al Shaqab x Veronica GA by Versace) who was renowned for his extravagant forehand. Now proudly owned by Orrion Farms and masterfully presented by Andrew Sellman, MARLAYNA has inherited the best phenotypic attributes of her esteemed ancestors, most deservedly winning the High Score Award for her breed ideal Neck & Shoulder. The reigning Scottsdale International Gold Champion Yearling Filly SEDRA ALGHAZALI redeemed herself in the championship final, finishing as Bronze Supreme Champion, after a rather sedate performance in the qualifying class. An exceptionally pretty filly with an abundance of size, grace and charisma, SEDRA is yet another testament to the prepotent siring ability of *AJ Radman.
The most refreshing surprise in the final line-up was the triumph of AL NOOR MIRALENA as Supreme Silver Champion, one of the youngest contenders in the class who made her show ring debut at the World Cup. The quintessential success story for small breeder and owner Sherry Conrads of Al Noor Arabians in California, MIRALENA is a consummate blend of the best bloodlines from both the Om El Arab and Varian Arabians programmes. An exquisitely petite filly who exudes refinement, quality and femininity, MIRALENA remained compellingly composed every time she came into the ring, enchanting the judges and spectators alike while gaining an enthusiastic fan base of support. MIRALENA’s triumph, both in the World Cup and the Emirates Global Cup, was an indisputable highlight of the entire weekend and proof positive that the small breeder can most assuredly achieve at the highest level. From the very first foal crop of Om El Maximus (Magic Magnifique x Om El Bint Beneera by Om El Shahlimar), MIRALENA is a testament to his ability to sire exotic type of the highest calibre, including her breed ideal head, which was justifiably awarded the trophy for Highest Scoring Head.

The judges were all in agreement that the quality of the yearling colts was as high as the fillies, a rare occurrence anywhere in the world. So deep was the competition in 2024 that several of the most highly rewarded colts from the Scottsdale Show in February were left out of the medals entirely at the World Cup. Ultimately, the three highest scoring colts ended up ranked in the exact same order in the final line-up, beginning with the impressively complete and well balanced *NADER ALBIDAYER winning the title of Supreme Gold Champion. A fourth-generation Albidayer-bred champion, NADER is not only one of the finest examples of the siring ability of his four-time National Champion sire *Rhan Al Shahania (*Marwan Al Shaqab x Jwaaher Al Shahania by FA El Rasheem), but his tail-female line traces directly to one of the most illustrious mares in Arabian breed history: three-time World Champion and twice undefeated Triple Crown, *Pianissima (*Gazal Al Shaqab x Pianosa by *Eukaliptus).
The judges’ choice for Supreme Silver Champion was the reigning Scottsdale Reserve Champion Junior Colt SYNATRA, the banner carrying progeny of the popular sire *Sharif Al Zobair (FA El Rasheem x Risalah Al Zobair by Marajj). A tall, scopey, handsome and refined colt with immense eyes and a striking silhouette, SYNATRA is very reminiscent of his venerated dam: international champion *HDF Fontonella (Quasim CRH x HDF Baronesa by HDF Lugano), a Brazilianbred beauty who was sagaciously leased by Joe Polo and successfully campaigned in North America. Recognized with the Supreme Bronze Championship was another powerhouse mover bred by Rae-Dawn, RD BACARO, who was deservedly awarded the crystal trophy for the Highest Score in the category of Movement. Sired by Brazilian National Champion RFI Unique (AF Maden x RFI Ultraa Maktub by RFI Maktub), BACARO is more importantly a third-generation RD-bred champion, tracing back to the iconic multi-US National Champion NW Siena Psyche (Padrons Psyche x NV Shanteuse by Bey Shah) through the ‘Queen of Rae-Dawn’ - RD Marciea Bey (Bey Ambition x RD Marciena by QR Marc), who has been recently honoured with her very own Breyer replica.

Among the junior fillies, the choices gained more international momentum, with pedigrees, origins and ownership of the medallists representing a broad-cross section of taste, style and acclaim. The Supreme Gold Championship was justly awarded to the highest scoring female of the entire show: the evocative VANNA A, bred by Australian-American Alexandra Hodsman and now proudly owned by Peng Jiang of China. Exotically beautiful with size, scope and elegance, VANNA was fresh off her Scottsdale International Silver Championship from February, looking even more polished and composed in the outdoor setting. Sired by international sire of significance S.M.A. Magic One (Psytadel x Majidah Bint Pacha by AS Sinans Pacha), a Belgian-bred supersire now in residence in the UAE, VANNA is yet another superlative example of the prolific production of her venerated dam Ava Maryia (Eden C x Dakara EA by Dakar El Jamaal), source of World Champions Algamra (by AJ Portofino) and Aisha Al Sheikh (by Jyar Meia Lua).
Royal Arabians was the proud breeder and owner of both the Silver and Bronze Supreme Champion Junior Fillies. Earning the higher honour was ROYAL MIA, an exceptionally beautiful bay that affirms the invaluable contribution of *AJ Radman to the Royal Arabians breeding program. A consistent winner at both Scottsdale and the Arabian Breeders Finals as a yearling, ROYAL MIA is a second-generation McGown & Davis-bred champion with direct links to Brazilian royalty through both her sire and dam. The Supreme Bronze Champion, *ROYAL BLACK MOON, was actually bred in Brazil by Royal Arabians and recently imported. Named United States National Silver Champion in the Two Year Old Breeding Pay$ Futurity in October, the aptly named BLACK MOON is a beguiling filly with a promising future and an impeccable pedigree.

Unsurprisingly, the colt that emerged victorious in the Junior Colt Supreme Championship was the same that had triumphed in Scottsdale less than six weeks earlier: RHAPHAEL SBA. Honoured as Supreme Gold Champion RHAPHAEL is yet another rising star among the growing collection of acclaimed progeny sired by *Rhan Al Shahania, and, more importantly, a direct tail-female descendant of legendary broodmatron Amety B (Eternety x Amiga-B by Bask El Amigo), source of all the Angels, Princesses, Duchesses and Goddesses of Marwan fame. Earning the Supreme Silver Championship was another royally-bred colt – ARIA HELIOS, proudly bred by Sahara Scottsdale and now under the ownership of PCF Arabians. The younger full brother to the immensely popular ARIA RAKEEM, HELIOS is a masterful blend of both his esteemed parents: global icon *MD Hibbat Allah (DA Valentino x *Anastaciaa by ATA Bey Starr) and the leading international sire of significance FA El Rasheem (FA El Shawan x Virtuosa MLR by Versace). The Supreme Bronze Championship was earned by *KINZ AL ADIAT, a distinctly more European-style horse, who was fresh off his Scottsdale International Gold Championship for Israeli owner and breeder Abu Riash Mufid.

The ultimate honour of the title of Supreme Senior Mare Champion is a jewel in the crown for any show mare who accepts the challenge of elite competition at the World Cup. The contenders forward were some of the very best ever to grace the ring in World Cup competition, the result of which resulted in an unprecedented three-way tie for Supreme Gold Champion. Breaking the tie for the Silver and Bronze Supreme Championship titles was decided in the category of movement, giving the edge to three-time United States National Champion EXXALTRESS. Growing more refined and elegant with each passing year, EXXALTRESS remains the pride of the Orrion Farms show team, and a sterling example of the ideal Arabian mare. Earning the Bronze Championship title was the reigning Scottsdale International Gold Champion OM EL BELASINA, who was just one vote away from Supreme Gold Champion the year prior at the World Cup. The modern pinnacle of perfection for the Om El Arab breeding programme, BELASINA not only represents fourteen generations of homebred breeding genius, she possesses six essential crosses to the grandest Arabian matriarch of the 20th century, *Estopa (Tabal x Uyaima by Barquillo), and is the premier daughter of the reigning broodmatron supreme, Om El Beladeena (*Al Lahab x Om El Benedict by *Sanadik El Shaklan).

Placing over both these glorious mares for the Supreme Gold Championship was the newcomer *SAHARA MISSHAELA, who secured three of the six first place votes from the judging panel. Bred in Brazil, MISSHAELA is a daughter of the acclaimed broodmare sire *Shael Dream Desert (Ansata Shaamis x Elettra by Hadidi), the stallion whose globally distributed descendants continue to transform the breed for the better. *SAHARA MISSHAELA’s genotypic excellence continues with her maternal grandparents, sire of the millennium *Marwan Al Shaqab (*Gazal Al Shaqab x Little Liza Fame by Fame VF) and celebrated show and broodmare Satin Mist (*Muscat x Satin Silver by Tornado), the most famous full sister of World, United States National and Scottsdale Champion Amber Satin. Now proudly owned by the partnership of Desert Sky Arabians and Royal Arabians, *SAHARA MISSHAELA promises to leave a lasting contribution in her adopted homeland.

The hosting of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup North American Championship in conjunction with World Cup provided an additional boost for both participation and reward at the 2024 event. Masterminded by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society to encourage the breeding of Arabian horses worldwide, the truly global initiative encompasses ten shows on six continents over the course of a calendar year. The annual tour plans to award over a million euro in prize money to small breeders for horses locally bred and owned, all funded by the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates. A total of 250,000 emirati dirham, an equivalent value of just under $70,000 USD, was committed to the North American Championship, with prize money paid from first through fifth in all ten qualifying classes. Designed to reward small breeders/owners, those who breed fifteen or less purebred foals each year, the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup is unquestionably the richest prize money programme for halter horses of all ages ever offered in North America.
The Global Cup provided its own unique scorecard, which assesses exhibits in seven categories from one to ten, giving judges the opportunity to score a single exhibit twice under two different systems. Only three of the five judges selected to adjudicate each of the breeding classes were tasked with scoring the Global Cup qualified exhibits twice using both the World Cup and the Global Cup scorecards, which allowed for greater variation in results and more opportunity for horses to earn acclaim in both competitions. With prize money only allocated to qualifying classes, 5000 emirati dirham for each place getter from first through fifth, great fanfare was given to the prize giving in all the Global Cup qualifying classes, with winners receiving EAGHC-NAC logo emblazoned caps and photos taken with large format checks alongside a representative from the EAHS.
On Saturday, those horses qualified for Global Cup Championships returned for one final assessment following the Supreme Championships in their corresponding age divisions. Just four championships were offered in the inaugural season – a Junior Filly and a Junior Colt Championship for horses three years and younger as well as a Senior Mare and a Senior Stallion Championship for horses aged four years and older – with several high-profile horses choosing only to return for Global Cup honours as a testament to the importance of the competition.
The Junior Filly Championship proved to be the most highly competitive, with eight gorgeous fillies forward for assessment. The unanimous choice of all three judges was most predictably AL NOOR MIRALENA, the Supreme Silver Champion Yearling Filly that had already proven her undeniable worth amongst the best competition at the show. Finishing as Silver Champion was Psynergy’s enchanting VISION OF LOVE ENB, a former World Cup Supreme Bronze Champion who represents the best of her sire Dominic M (Da Vinci FM x Rosa La Valentina by DA Valentino). Owner and breeder Alexandra Hodsman was thrilled to receive the Bronze Championship for ELEGANZIA A, maternal sister to World Cup Supreme Gold Champion VANNA A, and sired by the successful *Ibn Farid (RFI Farid x Asawir by Marajj).

Competition was once again fierce in the Mare/Filly ATH division, with several gorgeous females presented in every age split. The three entries scored highest proved triumphant in the Supreme Mare/Filly ATH Championship, with the refreshingly complete VICTORIA AS named Gold Champion for Sonrisa Farms. Line-bred to World Champion Gazal Al Shaqab (Anaza El Farid x Kajora by Kaborr), VICTORIA is also blessed with the invaluable influence of two esteemed international aristocrat dams: Veronica GA (Versace x Echo Belle by Echo Magnifficoo) and *Taamara HVP (Don El Chall x Tananaa by Namek), both responsible for her exceptional quality, feminine elegance and impressive length and shape of neck. Named Silver Supreme Champion was the exotically headed, colourfully marked, chestnut ROYAL BELEZZA, whose cherished parents are both Brazilian in origin and trace back to many of the most celebrated Arabians from South America, including the iconic matrons Jullye El Ludjin (Ludjin El Jamaal x NV Justa Dream by Bey Shah) and MFA Exoticaa (Echo Magnifficoo x MFA Hucklehoneybey by Huckleberry Bey).
The youngest filly amongst the competition, the exquisite POSHA GIANA PCF, was named Supreme Bronze Champion for proud owner Sam Peacemaker. Representing an impressive eight generations of PCF breeding on both sides of her distinguished pedigree. POSHA GIANA is the daughter of venerated Scottsdale & US National Champions Pilatus PCF (Exxalt x Alexandria PCF by PCF Vision) and Giana Leah PCF (Polidoro FC x Aliyah Vision PCF by PCF Vision). Her capable handler, Koy Moody, was awarded the Amateur Handler of Excellence Trophy from the international judging panel for her skill, sportsmanship and horsewomanship, all of which gave Team PCF more reason to celebrate. While Murray & Shirley Popplewell, always formidable competitors in this division, were left out of the winners’ circle on Championship Saturday, they did not leave empty handed as their homebred RD RHAFIELLA was awarded the High Score Feet & Legs trophy for her exceptional conformation.
Entries in the stallion/colt/gelding ATH division were surprisingly light, with just five horses forward. The geldings, which are always rightfully celebrated in North America, held their own, taking home both the Silver & Bronze Supreme Championships. Lisa Atterberry and Dina Cale’s flamboyant, athletic and substantial MEER AUDAZ V gave a sensational performance with Ally Nelson at the lead, which secured him the Bronze Champion title, while Koy Moody’s own JAIDEN ENB, a decidedly more refined and elegant gelding with considerable length

of leg, finished strongly as Silver Supreme Champion. The same combination of genetics, with World Cup Supreme Gold Champion *AJ Radman (Vervaldee x Felicia RLC By *Shael Dream Desert) as the sire and Brazilian breeding legend El Tino (DA Valentino x Imprimista CF by Bey Imprimis) as the maternal grandsire, were responsible not only for JAIDEN ENB, but the eventual Supreme Gold Champion Gelding ROYAL REIGN. A beautiful, smartly marked, bright chestnut, very reminiscent of his illustrious sire, ROYAL REIGN lived up to his namesake for proud owners and breeders Cindy McGown and Mark Davis with daughter Amanda Pagan capably at the lead for a command performance.
ROYAL REIGN was also named Champion AHBA Legacy Futurity Yearling Colt/Gelding ATH, with JAIDEN ENB earning the championship in the AHBA Legacy Futurity
Two Year Old Colts. Rae-Dawn’s dynamic RD INDIGO, a son of six-time National Champion *Preludio OSB (Dominic M x Partyssima OSB by Sir Fames HBV) and out of their premier broodmare RD Quianna (Shanghai EA x PCF Crystal Vision by PCF Vision), was honoured with the Reserve Championship and the corresponding futurity prize money payout behind ROYAL REIGN. Rae-Dawn prevailed, however, in the division with the biggest prize money payout, that for AHBA Futurity nominated Yearlings. The homebred and owned RD ATTIKA scored a respectable 325.0 with Murray the at the lead, four points ahead of the Reserve Champion ROYAL LUKA and Amanda Pagan for Cindy McGown & Mark Davis.
The winner of the AHBA Auction Futurity for yearling fillies was CHAMPAGNE NIGHT LRA, a fourth-generation Armstrong Arabians-bred beauty that was expertly handled by Jordan Simons for an ecstatic Ron and Laura. Brynlee Guimaraes finished just one half point behind with OLIVIA ANVIL as Reserve Champion in the AHBA Auction Futurity Yearling Filly Championship, after winning the championship the day prior in the AHBA Legacy Futurity Yearling Filly ATH with the exact same score of 325.0 for a very happy Alejandro & Ana Vigil. Royal Arabians scored two more winners in the AHBA Legacy Futurity Filly classes with daughters of their very successful sire AJ Radman. ROYAL GHADA was honoured as Champion Two Year Old Filly and highest scoring exhibit among all the futurity entries, and ROYAL PANDORAA was named Reserve Champion Yearling Filly. The Cedar Ridge-bred AMES ARMARETTO KISSES, a fancy daughter of multi-National Champion Stallion Polidoro FC (DA Valentino x *ABHA Palma by *Marwan Al Shaqab) was Reserve Champion Two Year Old Filly for owners Sandro Pinha and Gil Valdez.

A highlight of the World Cup is always the competition for the highly coveted Breeders Cup, which honours those breeders whose horses have achieved the greatest results across all division. An integral part of the show since the very beginning, the Breeders Cup recognizes five Breeders of Distinction each year, with the breeder who accumulates the most points afforded the ultimate honour of having their name engraved on the base of the grand silver cup synonymous with the event’s identity worldwide. For 2024, the breeders celebrated in centre ring just prior to the Senior Stallion Supreme Championship were Dr. Ben Bassichis of Stella Bella Arabians, Sam & Sandy Peacemaker of PCF Arabians, Murray & Shirley Popplewell of Rae-Dawn Arabians and former winners Psynergy Enterprise Developments LLC, represented by Michael Weinstein, Jean Edwards and Arturo Uribe. Claiming top honours for the second successive year were Cindy McGown and Mark Davis for Royal Arabians, elevating them to exalted status alongside Al Jassimya Farm, Pegasus Arabians and Om El Arab International as the only programmes to be honoured multiple times.
The 2024 event gave everyone much to celebrate - more champions crowned than ever before, as well as sponsorship and attendance, both domestic and international, were at their most enthusiastic levels since before the pandemic. We look forward with great excitement to the 2025 the Arabian Breeders World Cup and the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup North American Championship when they will return with even more innovation and energy, ready to trailblaze ahead for the breed into the next quarter century and beyond.
