As we say goodbye to 2024, we take a moment to reflect and celebrate the Arabian horse community. In the past three months, Arabian Horse Magazine has fully committed itself to bringing you a comprehensive look at the show season in Europe. This culminated in equestrian events that showcased the Arabian horses’ beauty and majesty throughout the Old Continent. From the flat terrains of Poland for the 46th Pride of Poland, and Belgium for the European Championship in Lier, to the stunning arenas of Aachen, for the 40th All Nations Cup Title Show & 5th All Nations Cup Straight Egyptian Event, Circo Massimo in Rome, for the 6th round of GCAT 2024 to the equestrian facilities of the Straight Egyptian Royal Championships in Vermezzo, Milan, Arabian Horse Magazine was there, building installations, filming and
documenting each triumph and every moment of the best Arabian horse morphology of the ongoing exhibition season. The commitment to keeping you informed has been unwavering. We are proud to say that our coverage encompassed a wealth of competitions associated with high-profile artistic exhibitions that not only showed participants and visitors the beauty and charisma of the Arabian breed. We also strengthened the connections within this vast industry, making new acquaintances and reconnecting with friends who have been part of our extended family for years... Meanwhile, Christmas is just a heartbeat away, meaning the festive season is upon us. The Arabian Horse community is coming together, adorned in the spirit of the holidays, as we prepare for the grandest showcase of them all—the 2024 World Arabian Horse Championships in Paris. After last year’s edition in Qatar, this inimitable pageantry returns to where everything started with the show industry. The finest
horses and some of the best international handlers are expected to join in Paris, la Ville Lumière, a magic place where dreams are realized and legacies are celebrated. In the coming weeks, the anticipation will continue to grow. Breeders are finalizing their preparations, trainers and handlers are polishing their routines, and fans worldwide are eagerly marking their calendars.
The World Arabian Horse Championships are not just a convergence of high-status competitions. Their presence historically represents the heart and soul of the Arabian horse community. In December 2024, they will return to Paris to reunite passions and long-held dreams at the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles.
As we gather our thoughts for the year ahead, we at AHM remain committed to our mission: to provide you with inspiring stories, insightful articles, breathtaking photographs, artistic images, and elegant graphic design
that celebrate the Arabian horse—a breed unlike any other.
As we look forward to 2025, let us carry the spirit of your achievements forward, celebrating not only the splendour of the Arabian horse. But also the camaraderie and human relations among those who, like us, love it dearly.
From all of us at Arabian Horse Magazine, thank you for being part of this extraordinary journey. We wish you a joyful Christmas Season filled with warmth, happiness, and, of course, many more thrilling moments in the world of Arabian horses. Here’s to another year of passion, dedication, and unmatched beauty in the Arabian horse community!
Over the past three decades, Pride of Poland organized in the small city of Janów Podlaski has provided breeders and owners with the best of its aspiring show stars, stalwart matrons, and exceptional sires to compound the next generation of success on the world stage. Many of the world’s most influential and celebrated show horses in history first debuted in the outdoor show-ring in Janów Podlaski, before triumphing on the global stage as icons of the breed.
In 2024, the rich program returned with great fanfare, encompassing five essential events: the standard-setting Polish National Arabian Horse Show, the prestigious Pride of Poland Auction and Summer Sale, and the always inspiring Breeding Parades at the twin pillars of Polish breeding excellence in Janów Podlaski and Michałów Studs.

A SHORT INTRODUCTION
On September 3rd, a sudden weather emergency presented several challenges. However, the Global Champion Arabian Tour 2024 completed its European segment in Rome before preparing for the Grand Finale in Riyadh in November. Meteorological downbursts caused disruptions in several neighbourhoods and areas of Rome. Nonetheless, authorities and emergency teams quickly responded, initiating structural repairs and conducting a comprehensive damage assessment. The historic venue, Circo Massimo (Circus Maximus), selected for the event, underwent immediate recovery operations to ensure the safety of all involved, people and horses alike. GCAT and the local authorities collaborated to restore the area to optimal conditions, ensuring the event could proceed as scheduled. GCAT also enhanced communication with all involved parties, including participants, training and media teams, to address every safety concern. Declared viable, Circo Massimo turned into an ancient Roman equestrian theatre with actors and dancers twirling and leaping to the beat of drums. Gladiators on horseback paraded around the ring, their shining armours reflecting the sunlight. In such a solemn and festive atmosphere, skilled handlers appeared in the arena to present stunning Arabian horses from Europe and the Middle East.

Circo Massimo’s expansive, flat terrain and the ancient ruins with the Roman pines surrounding it created a breathtaking and picturesque setting for the GCAT Rome 2024. The majestic Arabian horses exuded an air of exceptional grace and elegance as they pranced within the ancient walls of Rome’s grandest stadium, infusing the atmosphere with a palpable sense of grandeur and stirring emotions. The sixth and penultimate round of the Tour led us on a journey through nobility and history, where the majestic Arabian horses and talented human counterparts paid homage to the sport’s rich history. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Thani, Deputy CEO of Global Champions Arabians Tour, expressed gratitude for the commitment shown during the weather emergency. The spirit of collaboration contributed to meticulous preparation, leading to a memorable event. After Rome, Ajman Stud’s mare AJ Kayya still tops the female leaderboard, Dubai Arabian Horse Stud’s colt D Borkan remains at the top of the male rankings points and Italian Paolo Capecci dominates the handlers. As GCAT 2024 moves towards its grand finale in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next November, the anticipation and excitement continue to grow, promising an epic conclusion to an extraordinary circuit of equestrian excellence. These magnificent horses represent the purest thoroughbred breed on the planet, comprising approximately 4% of Arabian horses. These beautiful living creatures embody the extraordinary passion of the wealthiest and most powerful sheikhs, showcasing a legacy of elegance and strength. At SERWC, Arabian Horse Magazine was warmly welcomed and hosted by Mrs Barbara Morali, the organizer and mind behind the Royal World Cup 2024, for the event’s press and media coverage.
Among the judges were Mr Ahmed Mohamed Badrawy (Iraq), Mr Medhat Gaber (Egypt), Mr Giorgio Rossi (Italy), Mr Christian Moschini (Italy), Dr Nagham Aldabbous (Kuwait) and Mr Mohammed Saif Al Hajri (Qatar). MOMENTS & PEOPLE
Who is Gabriela Thiry, exactly?
My name is Gabriela Thiry. I was born in Poland, but my whole life combines two countries because I’m half Polish and half Belgian. As a child with my parents, I travelled a lot in Europe because of my dad’s work, but we lived in Poland permanently when I started school. Although I wanted to become a veterinarian from an early age, I ultimately graduated from the University of Law. As a child, I loved animals, especially horses and dogs. Dad always took me to see the horses at the stables and my riding lessons began when I was three years old. At the age of seven, I began my first internship in a stable in Belgium. At age 8, I fell off my horse very badly while jumping. It was a very traumatic experience for me and I was afraid of horses for three years. So I avoided the stables. After two years, my fear passed and I returned to riding, training jumping and cross-country riding, and I started dreaming about my horse. I read a lot about horses. I drew horses, watched movies, and searched through sales ads on the internet
and newspapers. In two words - horses everywhere. My parents hoped that I would get bored one day with horses, but they always supported me in this, even though they were worried about me because of my passion. In 2006, I went with my parents to buy my first horse which was my dream horse and which I put into all the pocket money I had. We went to Wrocław to watch a beautiful black gelding named Ajax, a mix of Hanover and Oldenburg blood on who I wanted to start my future competitions. Until now, I remember the horror in my mum’s eyes when her 13-year-old daughter wanted a 175cm tall horse. We didn’t have a stable ready, therefore, we went to a family friend who was an Arabian horse breeder to look at stabling Ajax there. He had only grey Arabian horses, which my parents tried to convince me to look at, saying how gorgeous they were but really because they were much smaller than my dream horse. Finally, my dad decided that we were going to buy Ajax. I couldn’t sleep all night because I was so excited about having my own horse. We arrived to see Ajax again and then he bit my hand extremely hard. As you can guess,
I didn’t want this horse at all. So, I returned home without a horse, but with his teeth reflected on my hand. My mom did not agree to buy a horse but she preferred grey Arabs because she knew that I would want another giant mastodon. Again, I started my research but it was an Arabian horse this time. In 2007, I found a website of an Arabian breeder in Łódź and with my grandmother, we went to see a three-year-old Zorita (Turban x Zuzela by Egzamin). At that time I didn’t know anything about Arabians and I thought it was a horse like any other but smaller. I recorded this young mare with my camera and showed her to my parents. Her appearance in front of us will always be etched in my memory. She floated above the ground with her tail up and had beautiful, black shiny eyes. My dad gave me the green light to buy Zorita. And a month later she was mine. I wanted a big black horse and I ended up with a grey Arabian pony! Zorita was just broken in. She taught me how to ride and fall off… well. Of course, I never admitted any of the falls to my parents. This fearless and extremely
fast mare made me fall in love with Arabian horses and I wanted to learn everything about them. This is how GT Arabians started. Without my parents’ commitment to my passion, I would never have achieved what I have now. We are a family that breeds horses with heart.
Tell us about your early steps in the Arabian Horse industry. Who were your mentors (or the most important people for you) during your formative years?
My parents and I went to stables all over Europe. We visited such studs like Michałów (one of my biggest crushes), Jadem Arabians of Christine Jamar and Schoukens Training Center etc.. But I was blown away when I saw the 2008 Pride of Poland in Janów Podlaski and the stunning Kwestura sold for 1.125.000 euros. I had a huge fascination for Kwestura and her father Monogramm. I will never forget how I tormented my parents with printing pedigree, showing them live streams or videos of shows and talking about Arabian horses all the
time. Despite their reluctance, I finally infected them with my love for these horses as an only child. I never had a mentor, I was fascinated by the state studs and horses, but one of my inspirations was Christine Jamar and I wanted to be like her. She is a person with incredible knowledge, a powerful woman, an amazing breeder and outstanding judge and I have a lot of respect for her. I learned by comparing horses and recognizing desirable and undesirable traits.
Gabriela, if you are primarily a good breeder, do you think you will also be a good judge?
You will never be a good breeder if you are not a good judge, because it is harder to evaluate your own horses than other people’s horses. You must see the pros and the cons to evaluate their breeding value. When you see horses every day, you train your eye and you are much more sensitive to many things. You see the differences
between them, the lamenesses, you understand the anatomy, movement, and you feel these amazing animals.
What made you want to become a judge at some point?
I want to learn, I want to know everything about horses, and I want to do it professionally and have an influence on breeding. Judges set trends because they decide in which direction breeding goes.
What training did you receive to become a National Judge Level 1?
In October 2023, I passed the judge course exam organized by the Polish organization and Berengere Fayt. I received instructions to perform three probations and I did four probations in 2024. Additionally, I was on a lot of shows to train my eye and learn. I was
added to the National List in October 2024. Then, I signed up for the Level I Judges Assessment in Strohen. During this exam, I tried to do my best. I got a positive result and become an ECAHO National Judge.
How many probations have you got at your credit so far? What memories do you retain of the last one in Janow on the occasion of the Pride of Poland?
I did four probations with Berengere Fayt in Sweden, Lucas Goździalski in Poland, Marek Trela in Germany and Robbie Den Hartog in Poland. Berengere is a fantastic teacher, she made me believe that I could be a judge carefully introduced me to judging and gave me a lot of advice. Thanks to her knowledge I was able to enter deeper and deeper waters. My next probation was in Bialka with Lucas Goździalski, an amazing judge and person. He is very demanding and precise, but thanks to this he detects my shortcomings and taught me how to assess the body and legs of horses. He was very strict with me and said I would pass Level I if I was as good as the others. In Strohen I was with Marek Trela, a living legend in my eyes. I learned a lot and his advice sharpened my senses. He is a wonderful person with incredible knowledge and I was grateful I could do my probation with him. Thanks to this probation I gained more confidence in myself. My last probation was with Robbie Den Hartog during the Polish National Arabian Horse Show Pride
of Poland in Janow Podlaski, a place for which I have a huge sentiment. And I’m happy I had the opportunity to be there in the ring and have a wonderful time.
Which system of judging at shows do you prefer? Why?
I like the 20-point system with half points. As far as I’m concerned, it is the most accurate and understandable pointing system, but a wider scoring scale would help breeders understand better.
What skills are necessary to become accountable judges for the public?
In my opinion, a good judge must have both practical and theoretical knowledge of horses, as they need to justify their evaluations. Judges should be confident in their assessments and honest in their decisions. Above all, the judge must prioritize the welfare of the horses and consider their future in breeding.
How do you tackle the concepts of beauty and functional correctness in contemporary pure-bred Arabians?
I ride horses, both for racing and for sports. Therefore, we have to remember what the horse was created for. Functionality comes first, then beauty. An Arabian horse with a beautiful head, but without movement, loses all its magic. For proper movement, it needs proper anatomy and functionality.
Which champion stallion is your favourite at the moment? How about your favourite mares?
One of my favourite stallions is QR Marc, a show bomb and an extraordinary sire. Despite his age, he looks phenomenal at Schoukens Training Center. I have a crush on AJ Kaya who also has the blood of Kwestura and is the quintessence of a modern Arabian horse. She is a mare with excellent type, a beautiful head, a perfect body, and spectacular movement. She is just complete.
What will the next probation be? In Europe or outside Europe?
I want to see horses around the globe, so it’s hard to tell where I will go next...
Gabriela. Are you ready to connect with Arabian horse breeders and owners everywhere? Leave your message and share your thoughts with a passionate community that cherishes these magnificent creatures!
The diversity of nationalities and cultures is wonderful because we share one passion. We all share a passion for Arabian horses, which I like to call “Arabitis.” I take great pride in being part of this extraordinary industry. I would like to express my gratitude to my family and friends for their unwavering support and trust in me. As a little girl, I had big dreams. And now those dreams have evolved into a vision for the future that I am excited to pursue. Nothing is impossible; the word itself says “I’m possible.”

A SHORT INTRODUCTION
The Arabian horse, which is believed to have originated from the Arabian desert, has a longstanding tradition of breeding and showcasing also in Europe. Particularly, Spain France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Poland, proudly possess breeding histories that span over two centuries. For these countries, the historical European Championships for Arabian Horses, exclusively for European-bred horses, have been one of the most valuable platforms for Old Continent breeders to showcase their best breeding products and provide a significant counterbalance to the multitude of Arabian Peninsula shows.
This famous Title show made a return on the weekend of 26-27 October 2024 to Lier, Belgium. The 2024 edition attracted participation from some of the most influential European breeding programs that have played a major role in shaping the modern European-bred Arabian horse: Janow Podlaski Stud, Michałów Stud, Klikowa Arabians, Nayla Hayek’s Hanaya Arabian Stud, Flaxman Arabian, Forelock´s Arabians, Kalliste Arabians, Ismer Stud, De Cartherey Arabians to mention a few.

Thee Desperado Apr.5.1989-July.26. 2013(The Minstril x AK Amiri Asmarr Mar.14.1985 by The Egyptian Prince). Bred by Mr. Tom and Mrs. Martha Salome, MarSal Arabians, Crawford, Texas. Owned by Mr. James and Mrs. Judy Sirbasku, Rock Creek Arabians, Waco, Texas. U.S. National Reserve Champion and Scottsdale Supreme Champion Stallion.
From the same family as Rhapsody In Black, Thee Desperado produced a super stallion: the grey Thee Revolution (1996), son of the mare Bint Zaarina (1988) (Ruminaja Ali x Glorieta Zaarina), bred by Mrs Marilyn Thomas, Falconwood Legacy Bloodstock, Texarkana, Texas. The last owners of Thee Revolution were Mr Bill and Mrs Kristy Whipperman of Infinity Egyptian Stud, Freeland, Maryland. The grey mare Bint Zaarina (1988), bred by Mrs Judy and Mr James Sirbasku on Rock Creek Arabians, was a full sister to the black mare Aliashahm RA (1985-19.09.2002) and became a U.S. and Canadian National Top Ten Halter Mare. She was a tall, strong mare with an equally powerful and charismatic personality. Bint Zaarina was very fluid in her movements and looked striking when stepping into the arena, which delighted fans in the nineties. The classic beauty of Thee Revolution (1996) mirrored his dam in male shape, matured at an older age. He was the classic desert horse, elegant, lean and correct, with a beautiful head and two amazing large, black eyes. Presented several times to the U.S. Egyptian Event, Thee Revolution won several accolades: 2004 U.S. Egyptian Event Unanimous Champion Most Classic Head, 2004 U.S. Egyptian Event Reserve Champion World Class Stallions 6-9 Years
Bint Zaarina 1988-2013(Ruminaja Ali x Glorieta Zaarina) with Mrs. Shawn Crews. Bred by Mr. James and Mrs Judy Sirbasku, Rock Creek Arabians, Waco, Texas. Owned by Mrs. Marilyn Thomas, Falconwood Legacy Bloodstock, Texarkana, Texas. Canadian and U.S. National Top Ten Halter Mare.
Thee Revolution 1996(Thee Desperado x Bint Zaarina). Bred by Mrs. Marilyn Thomas, Falconwood Legacy Bloodstock, Texarkana, Texas. Last owner Mr. Billy and Mrs. Kristy Whipperman, Infinity Egyptian Stud, Freeland, Maryland.
old, 2006 U.S. Egyptian Event Unanimous Champion Most Classic Head, 2006 U.S. Egyptian Event Reserve Champion World Class Stallions 10 & over, behind only the great Laheeb (02.01.1996-04.03.2022) (Imperial Imdal x A.K. Latifa) who was crowned Champion. Thee Revolution proved an excellent sire as well. Sadly, he didn’t have the same opportunities as the other sons of Thee Desperado, so he left little progeny. However, it’s not always the best stallions that produce a lot. Another exquisite black daughter by Thee Desperado - I have already spoken about her, but it is worth remembering - was The Vision HG (17.02.1994-14.08.2018) (Thee Desperado x Belle Staar 26.02.199020.01.2009 by The Minstril). As well as the chestnut stunning stallion True Colors (02.07.1997) (Thee Desperado x Daheda 17.05.198731.10.2018 by Dalul), one of the best sons of Thee Desperado, about whom I have talked a lot in the past. One of the jewels produced by Thee Desperado was a grey Abeyyah Om Jurays mare from the family of El Shahbaa (19.01.1925) of the Inshass Stud: Savannah CC (05.05.1997Apr.2012), a daughter of Miss Maggie Mae (09.05.1991-May 2014) (The Minstril x Bint Magidaa), coming from one of the dam lines that have produced the most in the Straight Egyptian Arabian Horse world with majestic subjects of both sexes. Some of the most illustrious stallions of this family are individuals like Ruminaja Ali, Ruminaja Bahjat and Alidaar - all maternal brothers to Miss Maggie Mae. For her part, Miss Maggie Mae was the daughter of one of the most pivotal matrons of the breed: Bint Magidaa (04.02.1970-19.11.1998) (Khofo x Magidaa), and the legendary The Minstril, also a grandson of Bint Magidaa. So, when Miss Maggie Mae was bred to Thee Desperado, a magnificent filly came to this world. The one who would become the special grey mare Savannah CC: a double The Minstril, which revealed a massive blood concentration of her grand dam Bint Magidaa. Savannah CC (05.05.1997-April 2012) was bred by Mr John W. Green IV, owner of Cadron Creek Arabians, in Quitman, Arkansas. When she was about three years old, this delightful charcoal grey filly, with a light silver
The Vision HG Feb.17.1994-Aug.14.2018(Thee Desperado x Belle Staar). Bred by Mrs. Marilyn Geurin, Hamilton Gates Arabians, Hot Springs, Arizona. Owned by Ariela Arabians, Bnei Zion, Israel. 1999 Israeli National Champion Mare and Multi-Champion.
Kavetas Miracle RCA 2009(Thee Desperado x Kaveta). Bred by Mr. James and Mrs. Judy Sirbasku, Rock Creek Arabians, Waco, Texas. Owned by Mr. Ayad Al Thuwainy, Alghanayim Arabian Stud, Al Wafrah, Kuwait.
Savannah CC May.5.1997-Apr.2012(Thee Desperado x Miss Maggie Mae).
Bred by Mr. John W. Green IV, Cadron Creek Arabians, Quitman, Arkansas. Owned by Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Gail Mailloux, Two Silos Farm, Rogersville, Missouri. 1999 U.S. Egyptian Event Reserve Champion, World Class Yearling Fillies.
tail and mane, moved from the farm in Arkansas, where she was born, to a new home in the rolling hills of southern Missouri, Two Silos Farm, owned by Mr Joseph and Mrs Gail Mailloux, located in Rogersville, Missouri. Savannah CC remained there until the first days of April 2012, the month of her early passing. The elegant and dancing Savannah CC, always alert and focused on to her surroundings, was a charismatic mare with great temperament. At the same time, she was very kind, incredibly beautiful with perfect morphology. It was also a pleasure to ride her. She was light and supple in her movements and particularly receptive to commands. Savannah CC was much admired and praised as a filly, but after winning the 1999 Egyptian Event Reserve Champion title, the World Class Yearling Fillies title, in a very large category, her show career was suddenly broken up to become the prolific broodmare of Two Silos Farm. Her first foal was the lovely grey Dianaah (2002) by Shahir (12.06.1993) (Salaa El Dine x Imperial Imphayana), sold to Mrs Jeannette Longley of Dalton, Georgia. Dianaah was extraordinarily beautiful and had powerful movement, a high classy broodmare, and a Reserve Champion at the U.S. Egyptian Event. I will continue the list with other famous sons of Savannah CC. The grey stallion Nader Al Jamal (06.04.2004-June 2014) by Ansata Sinan (16.02.1992-2011) (Prince Fa Moniet x Ansata Nefara), who was called “TS Atlanta” at birth. He was sold as a weaning to “Atlanta Partners” Capstone Arabians & Tourbillon Farm, Indianapolis, Indiana. In Autumn 2006, Nader Al Jamal was leased to Ariela Arabians, Bnei Zion, Israel, where he proved to be a great sire. He became a Champion horse who garnered international recognition, with exceptional morphology, brilliant and kind. Unfortunately, he died very early in June 2014. Crossing Ansata Sinan with Savannah CC proved a breeding success, reiterated with the birth of the beautiful grey Al Bahir (2006), 2007 U.S. Egyptian Event Futurity Champion Yearling Colt and 2014 U.S. Egyptian Event Silver Champion Stallion. Al Bahir (2006) was sold to Mr Hank and Mrs Sandy DeShazer of DeShazer Arabians, Cypress, Texas. The same cross also produced the grey filly TS Vivien Leigh (2008), which remained
was the good-looking dark bay filly, almost black Apolloniaa (2010), booked and developed by Dr and Mrs Brock Livingston of Capstone Arabians, Indianapolis, Indiana, long before her birth. Savannah CC’s last filly was the gorgeous black The Black Magidaa (2012). Savannah CC was not only a splendid mare. She was also an exceptional conveyor of qualities, regardless of the stallion she was bred to. Another superlative daughter of Thee Desperado was the grey Alia Valentino (2003-23.06.2012) out of the mare Ali Maar-

I have already talked about Yosreia in previous chapters. Alia Valentino was bred by Mrs Janet Stevenson of Sho Shana Arabians, The Yellow Briar Farm, Orangeville, Ontario, Canada. In December 2008, this mare was purchased by Mrs Keith

and Mr Wayne Adams of MacKayne Arabians, Mabank, Texas, when she was still one of Arabians Ltd.’s broodmares in Waco, Texas, handled by Mrs Shawn Crews for the show. Alia Valentino was also an excellent reproducer. Before being sold to The Adams, she had already produced the grey filly Alia Lahab RSA (25.02.2007) by Al Lahab (22.02.1999) (Laheeb x The Vision HG by Thee Desperado), a Multiple International Champion with twice Thee Desperado in her pedigree. The sudden death of Alia Valentino on June 23, 2012, left a great void in the hearts of her owners, for whom the mare had been as a family member. There are many outstanding stallions among the sons of Thee Desperado. The first I will talk about is Thee Cyclone (19942004) (Thee Desperado x The Minuet), a Dahman Shahwan subject who comes from
the family of Bint Nefisa (1959) (Nazeer x Nefisa), through the beautiful and exceptional grey dam Charm Of Halima (21.05.1978) (Ansata Ibn Halima x Nama). Thee Cyclone’s dam was the bay The Minuet (31.03.1989) (The Minstril x Aliah Halima 07.06.1985 by Ruminaja Ali x Charm Of Halima), bred by Aliah Halima Partnership. The broodmare The Minuet was purchased by Mr Frank and Mrs Pat Bradish of Twin Hickory Arabians Inc., Rushville, Ohio, where she produced all her foals with the stallion Thee Desperado.
The year after Thee Cyclone’s birth, The Minuet produced her first filly, the bay Minuet In G, who would become a beautiful and si-

gnificant broodmare. But her most famous colt was Botswana, born three years later. The chestnut Aliah Halima was also a prominent broodmare, producing 3 U.S. winners at the Egyptian Event and one U.S. National Top Ten Mare. This magnificent bay stallion was exported to South Africa by Mr Jack Maritz of Sidi Arabian Stud, Upington, near Cape Town, where he was used as a sire with outstanding results. Thee Cyclone was also a three-time National Halter Champion of South Africa before his untimely death in 2004, excelling in several equestrian championships. One of the four Arabian stallions (three were Straight Egyptians), crowned three times Supreme National Champions of South

Africa, was Maistro (25.05.1990), also a son of The Minstril, imported into South Africa by Mr Jack Maritz of Sidi Arabian Stud. Thee Cyclone not only stood out as a horse with tremendous functional morphology and Classic Arabian Type. But he produced sons who also shined as riding horses. In endurance racing, Thee Cyclone is sought after in the pedigrees of participating horses. One of his sons, the grey Shaheer Prince Cyclone (1999), out of the mare Sidi Bint Malika (1990) (Sahiby Gamaal El Arab x Lar Malika), bred and owned by Mr Fanie Maritz, Shaheer Arabians of Upington, if not the best, was one of the best performing saddled Arabian horses and a star in endurance races in South Africa. As well as a winner of many Halter Championships. Shaheer Prince Cyclone (1999) was awarded 14 Victor Ludorum Titles in the ring in 2005. The same year, he was also awarded the WAHO Trophy. The above-mentioned titles and results are even more impressive given that today’s Straight Egyptian horses only represent about 3% of worldwide Arabian horses. As previously mentioned, Botswana (1998) wasa full brother to Thee Cyclone, also bred by Mr Frank and Mrs Pat Bradish of Twin Hickory Arabians Inc., Rushville, Ohio. He remained in the U.S., where he was purchased by “The Botswana Trust” and kept at Talaria Farms, owned by Mrs Allison G. Mehta and Mr Curt Westley, in Newnan, Georgia. Botswana is a Living Legend among Straight Egyptian Arabian horse breeders across the globe. But also among other breeders of the Arabian horse looking for the authentic Arabian type. Like his sire Thee Desperado, Botswana produced many Egyptian-related sons. He is a stallion who continues to increase his popularity and the appreciation of him as a sire despite his old age. This bay horse also possesses a faultless functional morphology like his full brother. His type is as classic as extreme. Very importantly, Botswana is pleasant to ride. He started competing in Halter very early. In 1999, he was Region 9 Top Five Colt; 1999 U.S. Egyptian Event Champion Futurity Colt (out of 25 colts). In addition, the 2000 Scottsdale Top Ten Colt (third in a class of 21), 2009 U.S. Egyptian Event Senior Champion

Stallion, and 2009 U.S. Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Stallion, and he also won the “Leading Halter and Performance Sire” Titles. From 2006 to 2016, Botswana held the record of the Leading Halter Sire and Leading Performance Sire titles at the U.S. Egyptian Event. The stallion proved a worthy descendant of his sire Thee Desperado in his long breeding career, with progeny of stunning quality, from every point of view, both stallions and mares, as well as in Straight Egyptians and Egyptian-related. Botswana is known to breed extreme types, beautiful bodies and correct legs, with naturally set high tails, beautiful heads and large black sparkling eyes. He conveys his bright intelligence and learning skills to his offspring in any equestrian discipline. Among the countless sons of Botswana, there is a high percentage of champions, regardless of sex, whether Straight Egyptian or Egyptian-related. There are many champions in competitions at every level up to Class A, including EBC winners at the U.S. Egyptian Event, both in the U.S. and in other nations. Before concluding this chapter, there are five other notable stallions, all extraordinary reproducers and sons of Thee Desperado. I cannot help but mention it. Starting off with the black Saklawi Jedran Ibn Sudan The Verdict HG (04.02.1995) (Thee Desperado x Belle Staar), bred by Mrs Marilyn Geurin, by Hamilton Gates Arabians, Hot Springs, Arizona and owned by Mrs Martina Haslbeck, La Fame Arabians, Assling, Germany. The Verdict HG was a full brother to the prodigious black mare The Vision HG (17.02.1994-14.08.2018), a world pillar of breed selection. He was a well-built stallion who became U.S. Class A Halter Champion; 1996 U.S. Egyptian Event Top Ten Breeders Challenge Colt, and 1999 Egyptian Event Top Ten 4 Years Stallion. Then, the Abeyyan Om Jurays bay stallion Thee Infidel (04.05.1995) by Bint Magidaa (04.02.1970-19.11.1998) (Khofo x Magidaa), bred and owned by Mr James and Mrs Judy Sirbasku of Rock Creek Arabians, Waco, Texas. Thee Infidel was a stallion with an astoundingly short back, beautiful petite head, with a harmonious and correct conformation. In his progeny, we find many champions. Thee Infidel obtained

ita Zaeim is sired by the great stallion Kanz Al Nasser, a direct son of WH Justice, the Champion Maker. And with a beautiful mother from the Egyptian Arabian horses Ftoon Al Shaqab. Her Dam is the Nobel mare Mayleen by the stallion ZT Marwteyn one of the most influential stallions who did an amazing job in Iran.
What makes Sita Zaeim so captivating is her magical movements and the grace she releases during the show performance. She is one the prettiest mares and one of the most winning female fighters inside the show ring with a lot of 20 points for her beautiful head and light movements. Even though she is just 4 years old, she was already crowned First in class and Gold champion in the Nationals 2021 as a Yearling Filly, 2022 First in class and
Gold champion in the Yazd show, 2023 First in class and Gold champion in the Iran National Championship, 2024 Second in class and Gold Champion in the Iran National Championship. Sita Zaeim belongs to Hadis Sarzaeim. She was discovered by her father, Jalal Sarzaeim, at the age of 4 months in the city of Zanjan. He gifted Sita to his daughter Hadis.
Jalal Sarzaeim was so in love with this filly when he saw her. But there was no horse trailer available and he was afraid the owner would regret his decision to sell the filly. Eventually, he took Sita to his club (Iranian Stud) in his car while holding the filly in his arms. Jalal Sarzaeim has been one of the top horse dealers and breeders in Iran for 30 years and his farm has won many titles at the shows in Iran.
