We are happy to welcome you to our Autumn edition 2024! The exhibition season we left behind has been dominated and still is, by two prestigious global circuits showcasing Arabian horse beauty and conformation, founded by President Jan Tops, a giant of the equestrian world, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), with the follow-up of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAHS. The Global Champions Arabian Tour 2024, the novel €17 million international
championship series, and the 6th Emirates Global Arabian Horse Cup of 2024 have purposely interested state-of-the-art venues across Europe and the Middle East, embracing a global audience through live events and digital content. This new approach has signalled a new chapter in Arabian horse sports, ensuring that the beauty of Arabian horsemanship is accessible to anyone, anywhere. Arabian Horse Magazine went above and beyond to ensure Press and Media coverage of important championships within these two massive equestrian circuits. Regrettably, we could not cover all the legs in the Arabian Peninsula because our staff was participating in several popular European competitions in the same period. Therefore, we were twice in The Netherlands, for the Eurozone Cup and Dutch Masters in May and the GCAT leg in Valkenswaard in July. Twice in Belgium, for the Bruges AH Event-European Show in June and for the West Coast Cup in August.
Twice in Poland, first for Tarnow’s All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship in July and the Pride of Poland in August. Our stop in the Czech Republic for the Prague InterCup in late August coincided with the 9th leg of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup. Lastly, we attended the GCAT leg in Rome at the historic Circus Maximus, which was a huge success. The AHM team put in tremensous effort to tour and travel. But it paid off with numerous acknowledgements from the organisers, unexpected exceptional achievements, new friendships and collaborations, and unforgettable memories to bring home. In this Autumn edition of 2024, in addition to the more technical show reports, readers will also enjoy a variety of cultural essays and interviews with emerging or veteran figures from the international Arabian horse
community, shedding light on the passion, dedication, and expertise that drive these individuals in their pursuit of excellence. You will read about the 40th anniversary of Michaela Weidner’s Murana Stud (Germany), the 1st Forum in Morocco by William Richardot de Choisey (France), Professor Majeed Khan’s dossier on the origins of the Arabian Horse (Saudi Arabia), Painter Valentino Robinson’s artistry (US), Photographer Soheil Gholami (Iran), Novelist Carmel Rowley (Australia), Halters creator Fady Shiekh Sroujieh (Jordan), and Sculptor Kathi Bogucki (US). So, dear readers, you’ll have plenty to read about and keep you occupied during the sweet Autumn afternoons. Meanwhile, anticipation and excitement in the community continue to build as the GCAT 2024 moves towards its grand finale in Riyadh. An epic conclusion to an extraordinary equestrian circuit awaits all of you in the Saudi capital. See you there!
This year, the Dutch Arabian Horse Studbook led by Mrs Amira Safadi, took a great initiative by setting on its agenda a morphology event in Deurne, North Brabant, The Netherlands, dubbed The Dutch Arabian Masters, for which the Arabian Horse Magazine team provided captivating media coverage. CONCLUSION & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The Dutch Arabian Masters 2024, held near the picturesque town of Deurne, the Netherlands, was truly an Arabian horses’ beauty, elegance, and grace celebration. Organized by the Dutch Arabian Horse Studbook and led by the dynamic President Amira Safadi, the event was outstanding, bringing together, breeders, owners, judges, disciplinary commissioners, handlers, groomers, photographers, and enthusiasts from around the world in a true show of camaraderie and
sportsmanship. President Amira Safadi’s leadership was instrumental in the Dutch Arabian Masters running smoothly and efficiently. Her dedication and commitment to the Arabian Horse cause are not secret to the international community, and her tireless efforts to promote the breed were evident in every aspect of the event. Under her guidance, the Dutch Arabian Horse Studbook could deliver a successful 1st edition of this show on the international Arabian horse circuit. On Saturday evening, everyone had a great time at the nice barbecue, with mouth-watering food, and refreshing drinks, enjoying the music, the company, the funny ga-
mes, and the overall exciting atmosphere. We had so many emotions at the Dutch Masters 2024: delight, relief, happiness, laughter, cheers, applause... even sadness in a strange way as it was a show our whole AHM team had been focused on for a while, and suddenly that chapter was over. Therefore, we thank The Dutch Arabian Horse Studbook and President Amira Safadi for choosing Arabian Horse Magazine as the Media partner number one for this event. We hope to work with you again next year!

INTRODUCTION
Acclaimed as the Venice of the North, Bruges is one of the most charming historical European cities. Horse carriages provide a glimpse of the town’s deep historical connection with equines, back when these were men’s only mode of transportation. With the great efforts of the Organizers Jurgen Lievrouw and Tim Dejonghem of VZW Prestige, and the vital support of the Province of West Flanders, the Bruges Arabian Horse Event has returned this year on 22-23 June, under the patronage of Al Thumama Stud (Qatar) in partnership with the GCAT 2024, and a program packed with attractions and a special location to welcome more than 100 purebred Arabian horses, among which also Straight Egyptians specimens, from European and Middle Eastern breeding programs. A wonderful get-together of humans and animals, sports and excitement, audience, sponsors and attendees took place in the beautiful forest of Tillegem Bos with its ancient towering trees and lush fields for participants and visitors to relax. The Arabian-style white installations, the four-row red seats, the black electronic display, stud banners, the luxury cars, the impressive horse sculpture in the grassy main arena, and the tent stalls and food trucks all around it, added a touch of modernity to Tillegem Bos’ old-world appeal.

Therefore, thank you Jurgen Lievrouw and Tim Dejonghem of VZW Prestige, for organizing this lovely event in Belgium that emphasized the importance of the country’s breeding tradition and legacy. Thank you to the Province of West Flanders and all the sponsors for their support and contributions. Thanks to the judges and all the attending officials, the breeders, the owners and all the friends who came to attend and celebrate. Arabian Horse Magazine looks forward to seeing you next year!

B-NATIONAL SHOW
29-30 JUNE - TARNOW (POLAND)
WRITTEN BY SONIA SMALDONE & GIANLUCA MARTINO PHOTOGRAPHY BY CONNY ANNUNZIATA
TARNÓW. A SHORT HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
In the 18th century, the Tarnów estate was owned by the House of Sanguszko, a Polish and Lithuanian noble and aristocratic family of Lithuanian and Ruthenian origin, remaining in the family’s hands until World War II, and the heirs held onto it. Prince Paweł Sanguszko, the grandson of Prince Roman Władysław Hieronim Sanguszko (1803–1870), took the honorary patronage over the Tarnow’s championship. On behalf of Prince Roman,
the horses originating in the Arabian Peninsula were imported by Bogdan Ziętarski (1884-1958), and their contributions to developing the Polish Arabian horse’s breeding would be crucial. Today, Tarnów quietly whispers tales of the past, inviting visitors to embark on an unforgettable journey through time. The city’s medieval old town embraces you with Gothic cathedrals and ornate Renaissance palaces that paint an unparalleled portrait of the city’s heritage. Each weathered stone of Tarnów is a testament to its resilience and spirit through the ages. The city’s beating heart lies in its vibrant
festivals that fill the streets with infectious energy. Polish delicacies, handcrafted souvenirs, and lively folk dances fill the senses with all the colours and sounds of the local culture.
THE STORY CONTINUES IN TARNOW IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GCAT 2024
Organized by the Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Association (PAHBA), led by its enterprising President Mateusz Leniewicz-Jaworski, in partnership with the tentacular GCAT 2024, the All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship was held this year on the weekend 29-30 June, at the equestrian fa-
cilities in Klikowska Ostoja, on the outskirts of TarnÓw, attracting more than 100 horses from the finest breeding programs across Poland, subject to the evaluation and score of seven international judges: Mrs Claudia Darius (Germany), Mr Gideon Reisel (The Netherlands), Mrs Paula Bőhmer (The Netherlands), Mr Cristian Moschini (Italy), Mr Abdulaziz Al Marzooqi (United Arab Emirates), Mrs Janice McCrea (United States of America) and Mr Graham Smith (Australia). The fair conduct of the show was a prerogative of Disciplinary Commissioners Mr Nils Ismer (Germany), Mr Fahrang Fazeli (Iran), Mrs Janet Court (UK), and Dr Agnieszka Kozłowska (Poland). In their role of
Ringmasters: Mr Bart Beckers (Belgium) and Mrs Joanna Krawczyk (Poland). Results and Livestream by Arabian Essence (Italy). Official speaker: Mr Mirosław Kołodziej (Poland). Music played by DJ Marcin Kalicki. Show photographers: Mrs Ewa Imielska-Hebda, Mrs Sylwia Iłenda and Mr Karolina Misztal all from Poland. Official press: Arabian Horse Magazine (Italy), Tutto Arabi (Italy), Konie i Rumaki (Poland), PolskieAaraby.com (Poland), and Koń Polski (Poland). The show kicked off on June 29, 2024 at 09:00 Europe/Rome and ended on June 30, 2024, at 22:01 Europe/Rome, with the announcement of the final champions for each of the participating classes:

THE CHARITY AUCTION: A BEAUTIFUL INITIATIVE
PAHBA’s board had the brilliant idea to organize a beautiful auction at the Tarnów show, and all proceeds went to the Charity Friendly House Care and
Educational Institution. The subjects of the auction were multi-awarded champion horse breedings and artworks. Awesome things happen in Poland!
TARNOW 2024: AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS IN POLAND
The All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship 2024 in Tarnów was an irresistible success, bringing even more excitement, and thrills than last year. Much of the attainment went to President Mateusz Jaworski, Mr Tomasz Tarczyński and Mr Marek Blaszkiewicz, the amazing show committee, supporters and sponsors. The show clenched the versatility of the Arabian horse by featuring endurance competitions, riding classes, carriage driving demonstrations, and displays of traditional Polish breeds of horses. Surely, the main attractions were the beautiful and functional Polish Arabian horses shown at the B-Natio-
nal competition. The judges were impressed by the quality, particularly in the Mares classes. President Mateusz and Mr Tomasz also focused on providing social and family-friendly activities throughout the show. It was such fun for the Arabian Horse Magazine Team to be part of these celebrations of Polish culture with the judges and all the officials, and make new stimulating acquaintances. Besides them, we offer our heartfelt thanks to the countless people who worked diligently behind the scenes. Your contributions, big and small, made a huge difference in ensuring the smooth operation of this lovely event in Tarnów. I could write much more about this show, but I urge you to visit the various AHM social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) to see our posts and videos for a better feel of it. Let’s meet again at the 2025 edition!

WEST COAST CUP 2024. TOWARDS A CONCLUSION…
Besides the show-ring performances, the West Coast Cup 2024 entertained us with special attractions! There was the opportunity to witness the hilarious Jack Russell Race, the traditional Shrimp Fishermen On Horseback & Thanksgiving for a thrilling ceremonial demonstration. For us on the AHM Team and everyone else involved, the West Coast Cup 2024 made for an unforgettable experience: from the organizers - The Detailleur Family - to the horses, from participants to spectators, the incredible atmosphere, the event honoured the splendour of Arabian horses from all corners of the globe, connecting like-minded people and friends with the same love and vibrant passion for these extraordinary animals. We are beyond grateful to the Detailleur Family, particularly the amazing Louise, for their generous hospitality, flawless organization and meticulous attention to detail offered at the show. Their unwavering dedication and passion were evident in the smooth operation of each competition. We look forward to the West Coast Cup 2025, though we already know the same equine excellence and pride standards will apply. We’ll see you soon Detailleur Family!

Under the joint name of Prague Intercup 2024, a whole series of shows took place this year on August 22-25 at the well-known Velka Chuchle Racecourse, near Prague. Besides the famous International-A Show & Championship for Pure-bred Arabian Horse, we witnessed the European Cup 2024, the Geldings International Class and the Amateurs International Show. Furthermore, the Czech National Championship, an ECAHO National Show, was staged a day before on Friday, 23 August. This year’s ACHPAK ČR organizational machine, in partnership with the Global Cham
pions Arabians Tour 2024, featured European-bred and owned horses participating in the A-International show. In conjunction with the 9th leg of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup for 2024, the event brought together breeders, owners, exhibitors, and Arabian horses from two continents, Europe and the Middle East, enhancing its global resonance and catalysing the participation of Prague breeders and owners.

The highly-esteemed Jury of the International-A Show and Championship for Purebred

dom). In his role as Ring-master, Dr Abdel Wahab Amira (United Arab Emirates). Mrs Zuzana Slavikova (Czech language) and Eric Blaak (The Netherlands) (English language). Arabian Essence (Italy) provided the scores, while Arabian Horse Magazine (Italy) was the Press and Media partner.

PRAGUE INTERCUP 2024. A FEW ENDING COMMENTS
The Prague Intercup 2024 and the encompassed series of competitions gave rise to a compelling overall event. All the horses and their handlers rose to the challenge and fought bravely for high marks and top placements despite the extremely high temperatures for the end of August (34 degrees Celsius), In conjunction with the 9th round of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup, and the Global Champions Arabians Tour 2024 partnership, the show was even more actionpacked with European-bred horses competing at the A-International and the plethora of rich prize money for the winners. Breeders, owners, and exhibitors had unprecedented chances in this edition to showcase their talents on both national and international platforms, offering them the opportunity to achieve significant recognition and success. In the 2024 edition, Arabian Horse Magazine’s role as a press and media partner was a remar-
kable accomplishment. Being a part of it was a privilege and a source of great pride. We extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to families and national organizations such as ACPKA ČR (Czech Association for Pure-bred Arabian Horses) and others, who are continuously expanding their promotional efforts and excelling in strategic international collaborations for the betterment of the breed and the individuals involved in its care and preservation.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the generous sponsors, the dedicated officials who ensured a smooth event, the talented teams who showcased their skills, the hardworking video-makers and photographers who captured every memorable moment, and the entire staff at the Velka Chuchle Arena whose efforts made the Prague InterCup 2024 a resounding success. Your contributions were invaluable and you truly embodied the spirit of the event. We are immensely grateful and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

SOME CONCLUDING NOTES
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the follow-up of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Arabian horse competitions abound and spread all over the globe to support breeders, owners, and exhibitors. This support represents the continuance of the extraordinary legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, strengthening the UAE’s reputation as a world leader in equestrian sports. EAHS Director-General Al Harbi has often emphasized that the cities hosting the various legs have been cautiously selected to expand the scope of services and support those interested in Arabian
Horse Shows. The general responses and reactions to the rounds so far have been very heartening, throwing a special light on what an amazing organization and how strong the level of competition is at the EAHGC 2024. The 9th leg in the Czech Republic has not been less compelling at all undoubtedly underlining the country’s significant role in Arabian horse breeding, the strategic UAE-Czech partnership in furthering Arabian horse activities internationally and the pivotal function played by members of the Czech National Association of Arabian Horses, headed by President Jaroslav Lacina. The finale coming up on 20th-21st September in the Syrian capital Damascus is something to look forward to as the super winners of this massive show circuit will finally be revealed. See you there!
