First of all... 2015 has been a great year for Bahrain! Over the past 12 months, the country has put itself out there regionally and internationally with the many high profile events it has hosted. The grand success of the F1, H.O.G. Rally, WEC 6 Hours of Bahrain and Jewellery Arabia among others strengthens our belief that the Kingdom has nothing but a bright future ahead of it. We can easily attribute these accomplishments to many things of which teamwork is the most important. Bahrain is a melting pot of cultures and arguably the most closely knit country in the GCC, offering both locals and expats a healthy balance of tradition and modern. Let’s strive to maintain this and celebrate the spirit of this beautiful island we call home, not just this month – on Bahrain’s National Day – but in the year to come as well!

In Conversation With
Shaikha Noora bint Khalifa Al Khalifa Shaikha Noora is the CEO & Chairwoman of Medpoint Design, a leading design company based in Bahrain. She is also the national brand ambassador of the International Non-Olympic University and holds a Masters degree in Media and Public Relations. profiles the Bahraini entrepreneur, auditor and graphic designer in an EXCLUSIVE.
The journey so far…
I always wanted to have my own company and be a graphic designer. After winning Allbecklrius degrees in graphic design at New York University, I eventually set up Medpoint in 2008. Further, I decided to get into branding and events management in addition to setting up my own training centre and university.
On seeing the bigger picture…
Bahrain is missing out on a lot of events and can do better. Presently, our country is doing a great job by organising largescale local, regional and international events like the Bahrain Airshow, Jewellery Arabia, Autumn Fair and F1. Medpoints hosts many successful events in Bahrain and Dubai. Its so much easier Dubai. Local businesses in Bahrain are generally not too cooperative and don’t want companies from outside the Kingdom to come here. We need to see the bigger picture, as this would help Bahrain open up and grow.
A motto I live by…
Take risks and dream big!
How I unwind…
I don’t really relax too much. I’m always working and I love my job. But yes, I do like going to the gym and my weekends are very much family occasions.
Favourite restaurant in Bahrain…
I love the Tea Club restaurant over in Amwaj!
What’s on loop…
I love all kinds of music but Gulf Arab tunes are particularly my favourite.

MY BAHRAIN
Jelena Piergiovanni, from Serbia, is a piano teacher and vocal coach living in Bahrain.
Top 3 personality traits
Warm, enthusiastic and funny.
I started learning music at the age of…
6 years. My mother knew to play the piano too and would play classics during dinners she hosted for her friends, artists, intellectuals and musicians, at our home. She inspired me.
Pianists I admire:
I admire a few talented Serbian pianists whose concerts I’ve attended from an early age and aspire to become a concert pianist like them. I also admire ex Yugoslavian pianists like Ivo Pogorelic, Rita Kinka etc.
The best part about being a teacher and coach is…
Being able to complete the circle by sharing the knowledge I received. I also hope to instill some of the passion and love I carry for music in my students, hoping it will shape them into sensitive and emphatic human beings, and make them want to become professional musicians.

My top autumn-winter fashion and beauty essentials this season…
Definitely boots, scarves and hats in Europe but in Bahrain I would just say more of jeans, leather jackets and sometimes, scarves. Also, darker shades of make-up, and for the nails, colours like burgundy and red.
Plans for the New Year
I try not to make New Year resolutions; instead, I try to set new goals and challenges every day. I hope to perform more in 2016 and expand my business – teaching more vocal lessons and preparing more children for ABRSM exams and talent shows.
Personal goals
I would love to spend some more quality time with my family especially my husband. Perhaps enjoy a short getaway to Oman or Dubai.
You can get in touch with Jelena, for a music lesson perhaps, on j_ pavlovic@hotmail. com or call, Tel+973 3535 6358

Joelle Paris' all-new SUN PROtect hair-care range
Joelle decided to include her beautiful children in her latest Joelle Paris hair-care campaign as these products are suitable for the entire family – even kids!
JOELLE PARIS Wojooh, Seef Mall - Seef District hosted Joelle Mardinian, Founder of the luxury salon, Maison de Joelle. She launched the all-new SUN PROtect range of hair-care products by Joelle Paris in Bahrain.
What do you love about Bahrain?
Bahrain is so chilled out and the people here are so friendly. There is this one sushi restaurant I like in particular. Four years back my team and I created a sushi dish, which the restaurant loved. The dish was named after me and is still on the menu! I’m really looking forward to dining there.
Tell us a little about Joelle Paris.
I created Joelle Paris three years ago to be a hair- and skin-care line because I wanted people to take care of themselves. Women in the region spend 60 per cent on perfumes, 30 per cent on make-up and just 10 per cent on skin-care. I started using skin-care products when I was 14; it was a birthday gift from my mum and made me
44
December 2015
feel like a woman – I’ve always wanted to be like my mum. When it comes to haircare, I have nine salons in the region and know the typical problems women in this part of the world face.
Tell us more about your latest SUN PROtect hair-care products? Joelle Paris’ SUN PROtect hair-care range is exclusively available at all Wojooh stores and Maison de Joelle. It includes a hydrating serum, sun-protection mask, shampoo and conditioner. These are suitable for the entire family – I even use them on my daughter.
How has your mum inspired you?
Oh completely! My mum’s stunning, and
I’ve grown up listening to how beautiful she is. She is a make-up artist too and that’s probably why I’m into the same field. She is just 16 years older than I and so she is more like my friend and sister. She is always reminding me to protect my skin. If she sees me outside, she asks me if I have sun block on my hands and neck.
Joelle Paris’ SUN PROtect hair-care range is available exclusively at all Wojooh stores and Maison de Joelle.

The 2016 Lexus LX 570
EK Kanoo, the sole distributor of Lexus in the Kingdom of Bahrain, unveiled the 2016 Lexus LX 570 during an exquisite event at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa. Top officials from private and public sectors, as well as Lexus customers and members of the media were invited. Lexus Bahrain took the wraps off the all-new LX 570, unveiling a premium, full-capability three-row luxury utility vehicle that combines the brute strength of a massive 5.7-litre V8 with the grace of an eight-speed automatic transmission, producing 362 horsepower.
The renowned Nissan Patrol has been made even more capable off-road with the World Premier launch of the Desert Edition – a new model conceptualized and developed in collaboration with the Middle East’s most famous and influential motorsports personality, Dr Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Visually identifiable with special ‘Desert Edition’ and ‘MBS’ badges, this new model is based on the Nissan Patrol LE, powered by Nissan’s powerful 5.6L V8 engine that generates a formidable 400hp and 560Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that incorporates manual mode and synchronized rev control – a set up that guarantees unmatched driving enjoyment, whatever the terrain.

The cabin features include a newly designed dashboard featuring an 8” display and extended super vision cluster and new door trims for a sportier feel. For the first time on a Hyundai Motor Company compact SUV, the All-New Tucson introduces a smart powered tailgate that opens at the approach of the key-holder, and a Blind Spot Detection system that monitors the side and rear of the vehicle for approaching vehicles.

Euro Motors launched the sixth generation BMW 7 series last month. cars Audi Bahrain’s Promotion
Audi Bahrain has announced a promotion to coincide with the arrival of a unique collection of vehicles featuring attractive customisation options from its exclusive range. In addition to the generous standard options, the vehicle configurations include unique exterior colors and styling options, leather varieties, interior stitching, wheels and other bespoke details. For a limited time, customers have the opportunity to express their individuality with an Audi exclusive exterior paint color at no additional cost. Among the new arrivals are unique customisations of some of the brand’s sportiest models including the Audi TT Coupé, recently awarded Best Premium Sports Coupe at the Middle East Car of the Year awards, and the Audi S3 Sedan, in addition to popular models from its premium SUV range and a special sport edition of the Audi A8. There is a high demand for personalised models, reflecting a growing trend towards vehicle customisation, globally, and one which Audi is well positioned to respond to with the extensive portfolio of quattro GmbH, a fully owned subsidiary of Audi AG specialising in the production of highperformance vehicles and exclusive customization options. In 2015, the company expects as many as 200,000 cars to be individualised via the Audi exclusive program. For the exterior, there are around 100 paint colors and a whole series of design packages adapted specifically for each individual model range. These also include the off-road packages for the Audi Q3 and Q5. Customers that set even greater store by the expression of their own particular individuality can order the exterior paintwork in a color entirely of their choosing that is then mixed specifically for them. The range of alloy wheels – one of quattro GmbH’s best sellers – is growing continually and extends all the way to a 21inch wheel with a titanium-style finish. The interior program consists of 16 interior colours, fine Nappa and Valcona leathers, Alcantara and nine carpet tones. Almost every one of the seats can be individually configured and accentuated with contrasting stitching. There is also a free choice of leather color. In addition, quattro GmbH offers exclusive trim elements to match the choice of leather – in piano lacquer, metal and fine wood veneer – offering customers almost limitless combinations through which to personalize their driving experience.

WHAT IS ‘FINE DINING’?
A fine dining restaurant has a more formal atmosphere than a casual dining restaurant, and they tend to be more expensive. The staff may wear formal attire. They also have stricter dress codes. Fine dining restaurants are not usually places for kids, unless very well behaved.

filters. Your attention is limited and valuable. You need less information. You need good filters. We can have trouble separating the trivial from the important, and all this information processing makes us tired. A solution is to hide for part of the day. Go where people cannot reach you and get solid work done, though of course that’s not an option for everyone.
4. THE INCREDIBLE POWER OF “GOOD ENOUGH” - You can do anything once
you stop trying to do everything. Be a perfectionist about it all and you’ll have a nervous breakdown. Save your limited decision-making power for the things that matter so you are not wasting time on things that are not high priority. For low-priority endeavors, allowing yourself to do just what is “good enough” for their completion is the right strategy. Of course for your high-priority endeavors, the old-fashioned pursuit of excellence remains the right strategy.
5. YOUR BRAIN NEEDS TO BE ENGAGED -
P
leaders, pop stars, and tycoons of business. Their skills and accomplishments vary, but one thing is remarkably constant. They have staff - their external attentional filters - to determine for them the best way they should be using their time. But here’s the thing: You can be like that too. And it doesn’t require a staff of 10. You just need to get a few systems in place ahead of time.
1. CLEAR YOUR MIND - Shift the burden of
organizing from your brain. Writing things down gets them out of your head, clearing your brain of the clutter that is interfering with being able to focus on what need to focus on. Everything you’re worried about, every to-do, every concern gets written down in one place. Afterwards, break it up into 4 categories:

1. Do it 2. Delegate it 3. Defer it 4. Drop it
2. MANAGING TIME REQUIRES ANTICIPATING THE FUTURE - Scheduling forces you to confront
the reality of how much time you actually have and how long things will take. You not only squeeze more work in but you’re able to put work into places where you can do it best. You’re less like to procrastinate when an activity has an assigned block of time.
3. SET UP FILTERS - Successful people, corporate heads, political leaders, spoiled movie stars, and others whose time and attention are especially valuable have a staff of people around them acting as
You must be assured that you are doing what you need to be doing, and that it’s OK to be not doing what you’re not doing. If it’s on your mind, then your mind isn’t clear. Anything you consider unfinished in any way must be captured in a trusted system outside your mind. That trusted system is to write it down.
6. FOCUS - Ever seen a picture of the US President’s desk? Does it have piles of papers and 1000 random post-its? No. Research shows a crowded desk saps your ability to concentrate. Just stepping into a different space hits the reset button on your brain and allows for more productive and creative thinking. According to productivity guru Tim Ferriss, focus is just the product of removing distractions. Make visible the things you need regularly, and hide things that you don’t. Your immediate environment should make what you need to do easy and what you don’t need to do hard. The trickiest thing to learn to manage is yourself. But once you can handle that, you can handle anything.
