Newsflash VALTRAVIESO CRIANZA WINS GOLD MEDAL AT CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES Valtravieso Crianza 2010, a blend of Tinta Fina (Tempranillo), Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, from Ribera del Duero was awarded a Gold Medal at this year’s Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, with Valtravieso Oak Aged 2011 taking a Silver Medal. A total 8,200 wines from 50 producer countries competed but only 2,400 received a medal, proving that quality is essential to win these awards. The Valtravieso estate is surrounded by 83 hectares of vineyards planted in poor soils located in the heart of Ribera del Duero, more than 900 metres above sea level. Its wines reflect the singularity and personality of this area, such as Valtravieso Reserva 2009, which won a Silver Medal at the prestigious Decanter Wine Awards or the VT Tinta Fina 2009, which took Bronze at the International Wine Challenge and shows, according to the judges, “lively damson fruit with good purity and a pleasantly chalky finish”.
