Urban Plan 1/32”=1’
my pavillion design battles the urban fabric of downtown syracuse. while its surroundings, particularly i.m. pei’s everson museum, are rosy and rectilinear, the pavillion uses cool tones and yellows in its rounded and triangular forms. Urban Sections 1/32”=1’
the pavillion exists as a space for play. the triangle encloses organized forms of play, such as fitness classes, while the circles and arcs suggest exploratory and freeform play.

my design for the project uses a lenticular facade system to highlight the bidirectionality of a corner facade. when viewed from one direction, the louvers appear blue, but from the other direction they appear pink. level 2 plan (1/8”=1’)

in contrast with the unyielding outer surface, the interior is spongy and luminous. circulation through a glazed atrium, with space to look up and down, blends the axes of travel together. occupants traveling on the multi-axis stairways can wave to people on the high line.
