About the Exhibition: DREAM Dreams consist of a series of thoughts, images and sensations during sleep. Psychologists often look at dreams as a connection to the unconscious mind and have analyzed them for insight into a patient’s hidden desires and motives. Surrealist artists have sought to channel dreams as a means to unlock the power of the imagination. The works selected by juror James Bacchi address the broad spectrum of dreams, from abstraction to narrative to surrealism.”

About the Juror: James Bacchi, Gallerist/Co-Owner, ArtHaus Gallery & Consulting, San Francisco, CA

James Bacchi continues to enjoy more than twenty-five years as a gallerist, collector, philanthropist and iphoneographer. Former Co-Owner of ON THE WALL, in New York’s East Village, and JagendorfBacchi in SOHO, Bacchi relocated to San Francisco and established ArtHaus gallery with art dealer Annette Schutz in 1995. Voted “Best Art Gallery” in the SF Gate Best of the Bay List in 2010, 2011 and 2012, ArtHaus is celebrating 22 years of working closely with beginning and established collectors, curators, corporate art advisors and the architecture/design community. http://www.arthaus-sf.com/

Juror’s Statement: Welcome to DREAM… From pipe dreams to sweaty nightmares, I found myself engulfed in the subconscious imaginings of a multitude of artist's work. For DREAM, each artist presented their interpretations of subconscious, one off and sometimes reoccurring remembrances. Much like dreams themselves, this collective body of work ran the gamut in regard to subject matter, media and style. While jurying and making final selections, I found myself consciously directed by the execution of each work, and its final outcome in relation to the artist’s description of the dream itself. “You may say I’m a dreamer. But, I’m not the only one.” Good night; sweet dreams… - James Bacchi, Gallerist/Co-Owner, ArtHaus Gallery & Consulting
