working with RafaelVasquez, Veronica Villanueva, Tommy Hsieh, Maria Horfman, Nooshin, Mengyuan Zhang, Rutwik Sathe, Make Liang, Xi Wu, Xiaoxi Bi, Yue Wang, Chen Han,Xu Teng The project is based on the plan of TAMU 2050. In the plan, the number of stuff, faculties and students will be the twice of the current one. So the campus need to be density, and the functions of school buildings will be complex. Our design philosophy for this project is strating from finding out problems to west campus of Texas A&M University
solving problems. Based on the analysis of the site and context, there are three major problems that are disconnection, indensity and the lack of indentity.

reform The traditional layout of the Chinese courtyards is introverted, but, as public facilities, libraries should be extroverted. We design a new courtyard with preserving the introverted spaces, and inserting public and extroverted spaces. Then we transform the new courtyard with topology, and the transformed courtyards are inserted into the traditional layout. Consequently, the traditional courtyard is expressed in new architectural language.

There are two entrances for the site. One is in the south of the site is mainly used for patients to drive into the site and to leave the site. The one in the north of the site is used as ambulance’s entrance and secondary entrance of patients’ vehicle.

Routes for pedestrian and automobiles are totally separated in the site, which ensure the safety children and their family members. In addition, the distance from parking lots to entrance of the building are shortened as less as possible, so parents do not have drop their children and then park cars. Consequently, children will not be separated from their parents.
