working with Rafael Vasquez, Veronica Villanueva, Tommy Hsieh, Maria Hoffman, Nooshin Ahmadi, Mengyuan Zhang, Rutwik Sathe, Make Liang, Xi Wu, Xiaoxi Bi, Yue Wang, Chen Han,Xu Teng The project is based on the plan of TAMU 2050. In the plan, the number of staff, faculties and students will be the twice of the current one. Consequentely, the campus will be more density, and the functions of the school buildings will be more complex. Our design philosophy for the project is from looking west campus of Texas A&M University
for problems to solving problems. Based on the analysis of the site and context, we defined three major problems as disconnection, indensity and the lack of indentity.

REFORM The troditional layout of the Chinese courtyards is introverted, but, as public facilities, libraries should be extroverted. We design a new courtyard with preserving the introverted spaces, and inserting public and extroverted spaces. Then we transform the new courtyard with topology, and the transformed courtyards are inserted into the troditional layout. Consequentely, the troditional courtyard is expressed in new architectual language.
