SPALDING SPREAD THE LOVE

As a Catholic school, we are called to build a caring and loving environment for all members of our community. In other words, we are called to spread the love. Each and every day, throughout the halls of Spalding that is exactly what we do. What is more, members of our community (students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents) spread the love wherever they go. The first letter of John tells us that God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God. Because of your support, our classrooms innovate and create new knowledge; our musicians and artists expand our minds and fill our hearts; our athletes stay strong and compete at the highest levels. All of this and more is possible because you spread the love through your time, talent, and treasure. In doing so, you remain with God and you keep us One Spalding that is One In Christ.

SCHOOL NEWS Kathy Sanders Award I was blessed to know Kathy both when I was a student and as a colleague. I witnessed her live out the mission of Spalding, treating students and staff with compassion and support. There are countless people in our community that deserve this award. I work alongside so many who work tirelessly, day in and day out, to make sure our students have a meaningful and fulfilling educational experience. I am grateful to be this year’s recipient of the Nicole Trumpler ‘95 Campus Ministry Kathy Sanders’ Spirit of Spalding Award.

2024 Educator of the Year I'm deeply appreciative to this community for the Educator of the Year award! I feel blessed to be a teacher at Spalding, where I have the opportunity to contribute to this warm and encouraging environment. I love being part of our strong community and I know I'm fortunate this is the work I get to do each day. There are so many dedicated teachers in this building, people who regularly create engaging lessons, stay after to provide additional help, and offer many opportunities for students to learn and grow. They encourage me and challenge me, and for them, I'm also very grateful. Thank you for this significant honor!

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT One Love is a national non- profit organization with the goal of ending relationship abuse. Their mission educates people about the signs of healthy and unhealthy behaviors in order to learn how to love better. The Spalding One Love Club started in 2019. Over the past five years, we have led workshops and classroom presentations and have grown the club to over 100 members; we are currently one of the largest clubs at the school. At Spalding we have seen first hand the importance of educating young people about One Love’s mission and how it has helped students recognize and address signs of unhealthy relationships. The month of February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Spalding’s One Love Club plans to “Spread the Love” in an effort to bring awareness to this mission. Claire Lamy - Club Moderator
